  1. Oh snap! I'm not sure which one I like more...
  2. And the story was written by a C. Hoffman, which is the reason Hoffman can take him.
  3. Okay, speaking as a linguistics nerd, I feel like a complete tool for not noticing this the first time that I saw Kirai: Kirai in Japanese means "Hate." Considering her backstory, I find that rather clever. Wow, I feel really slow. How late am I to figuring this one out?
  4. Yeah, I don't really know what to say. I've proxied a couple of fights with Sonnia, and I've never taken more than two turns to get her to a point where she could start raining down fire on her enemies. I'd definitely advise playing with terrain that doesn't hinder her movement - you'll have a lot more fun. Sure, she isn't as fast as some others, but her powerful range and blasts definitely make up for that. And when they start raining down, things start dying. Also, she comes with the awesomeness that is Samael, and possibly the most solid 4ss minion choice in the game: Witchling Stalkers.
  5. The Clockwork Quartet is thematically perfect for Malifaux, imo. The Watchmaker's Apprentice sounds to me like the story of an Outcast, hiding out in Malifaux after committing a terrible crime. http://www.youtube.com/embed/u4YuqjsVhfo The Doctor's Wife seems to me like the story of a well-intentioned man who slowly starts going mad and pursuing Ressurectionist magic to bring back his wife. http://www.youtube.com/embed/zBFtWyvRMOk
  6. Paint eyes before anything else. It's much easier to paint your eyes when you're not worried about getting paint outside the actual eyes. Then, when you're done, just cover up the paint around the eyes.
  7. Right, so I just got the Scales of Justice for Lady J, and though I like the model itself, there's one problem I have: The ropes holding the scales. These parts seem like they're very susceptible to bending and snapping off accidentally. Is there a way to strengthen them up, or do I have to be exceedingly careful with the mini? Or is it much less of a problem than I'm thinking it'll be?
  8. I'd kind of like to see a music-themed crew, maybe for Arcanist special forces. The Henchman could be a conductor who channels the sound of battle into music. I think you could have some interesting play styles. Individual musicians could give various buffs/debuffs (play uptempo to give allies Fast, play downtempo to give enemies slow, play the right tune to give showgirls a casting bonus on Siren Call). The Conductor could have an interesting mechanic where you choose a type of music that he conducts, with minions changing their abilities and traits depending upon the type of music.
  9. The trick is with the one that is standing on one leg. That's a little tricky to magnetize well.
  10. Some friends and I were actually considering dressing up as a full Guild crew. I've been thinking about making the Death Marshal costume for myself.
  11. See, that's fine, though. If the painter showed up with the models that he worked on and spent all that time on making sure every last detail was right, that every last highlight was perfect, then he deserves to win the prize. However, much like Tuesday said, if I spend a ton of my own time painstakingly painting up a crew and then find out that the guy next to me just paid someone to get his minis done and still got into the competition? Well, let me tell you, that is a huge slap in the face. And before anybody comes back with that argument about how spending money is the same thing as putting effort into painting the mini - that's just wrong. Imagine two people: One has a job that pays well and lives comfortably. The other has a minimum wage job and barely pays the bills with what he gets. Are you telling me that if the first guy buys a painted mini, it's the same as if that second guy put his heart, soul and time into painting the mini himself? tl;dr: Nobody should ever be able to win a contest that isn't a random lottery just because they had more money than the other guys.
  12. Damn gubment, always putting the common man down!

  14. Carrying the Executioner across the field, for one.
  15. I've been considering taking Sonnia with Death Marshals if I play against Ressers. The Death Marshals could help keep corpse counters off the board with their trigger, and Sonnia would have me covered in the case of Kirai being played. However, it seems like I'm almost crippling myself by taking Death Marshals instead of Witchling Stalkers if I'm not taking Lady J.
  16. General consensus seems to be just to grab Deadlands and use that system. Apparently it is absolutely perfect for Malifaux.
  17. I don't know about how well it works with plastic, but I'm currently soaking a showgirl in Pine-sol. Stuff works wonders, I tell you.
  18. I never really thought the Grave Spirit was a Tyrant. Wasn't the Grave Spirit what the inhabitants of Malifaux brought in through Kythera in order to combat the TEs? The way it is described in the fluff, I always saw it as some sort of extradimensional entity - death energy itself made sentient.
  19. Som'er Teeth Jones, governor-general of Malifaux. You know you want it. That, or Colette doing magic tricks to entertain The Dreamer.
  20. Anything Gor. Dear god, the frothing hatred I have for that series cannot be summed up in words. Even worse are the people who think that this is how society should be.
  21. Hmmmm... I suppose these would be quite usable for Malifaux, but I think they'd be even more useful for a game of Pulp City. I'll have to keep an eye on this for when I get more money.

  23. Warhammer 40K - Space Marines and Eldar Warhammer Fantasy - Vampire Counts Infinity - Nomads Warmachine - Khador (Sorscha) Malifaux - Colette and Lady J (currently my favorite game) OGRE/GEV - Got a TON of minis for this one. Also looking into Pulp City, Hell Dorado, Dark Age, and various other mini wargames. Also thinking I might start doing video reviews of games. Maybe even get on TGWTG (lol, yeah right).
  24. Akujie: Not sure about balance given those abilities, but I love that concept, both in fluff and in playstyle!
