  7. Alright, I tried this out last night, and it worked okay. Iggy was rather lacking in resilience, and I didn't manage to keep him alive long enough to use his (1) spell which would have really messed up my opponent's Collodi crew. As a matter of fact, the entire crew lacks resilience. I need to add something with a little more toughness - preferable an M&SU Member, because if someone kills Kaeris (Leveticus got a LoS on her, it wasn't pretty) then I lose all my buried Miners. That's 20 soulstones in one go - not fun.
  8. Yeah, definitely looks like Ratty's work to me.
  9. Well, I haven't used him myself, which is why I'm going to be trying him out in a game later today, but considering how he interacts with and makes burning tokens, I think he'll fit in a Kaeris crew just great. He gives out burning tokens when he hits in melee, has a trigger that allows him to do +1 Dg when he hits in melee for every burning token the opponent has on then (which, in a Kaeris list can easily grow to be huge), and has a (1) spell that is a Dg2 4 which also hands out burning tokens, and deals 1Wd and a burning token whenever he's hit in melee. Also he has Ablaze, making him immune to burning tokens. So yeah, at least on paper, it looks like he's totally worth the seven soulstones to hire him.
  10. Its primary use in non-Colette crews is as an objective grabber, which it does better than almost anything else I can think of. And with its Sword Dance ability, it can soften up enemy units on its way.
  11. Arcanists Crew - 35 - Scrap Kaeris -- 5 Pool Fire Gamin [4ss] Fire Gamin [4ss] Gunsmith [6ss] Iggy [7ss] Union Miner [4ss] Union Miner [4ss] Union Miner [4ss] I was thinking that this list would be good for Slaughter and Contain Power strategies - Dumping three miners and Kaeris on top of an opposing master seems like a good way to tear them down pretty fast. And with Kaeris' flying, they'd be pretty mobile. Throw in some Gamins and Iggy to dump burning tokens all over the board so Kaeris can do crowd control if she needs to (leaving the miners to deal with more resilient opponents). Furthermore, it seems to me that the Miners would be perfect for destroying the enemy supply wagon. The gunsmith is there to add some ranged support in a list that is primarily melee based, not much else. Anyhow, this was a spur of the moment list, so it's probably full of holes. Your thoughts?
  12. With the exception of the Duet, really. That thing is just so good that I think one could find a use for it in almost any Arcanist list.
  13. Oh, good to know! I sent mine in on the 30th, and the suspense has been killing me.
  14. Popular opinion is that Marcus is the least competitive master in Malifaux. Personally, I think that popular opinion is overrated, and that Marcus has a lot more going for him than people give him credit for - especially because people think he's an easy to beat master. After all, overconfidence breeds mistakes.
  15. No, it says +3 to Rg. And Rg, like Ratty said, is not range itself. It is a specific stat. Neither Ice Mirror nor Freeze Over have a Rg and as such are totally unaffected. ...why are you picking Rasputina for a movement based strategy in the first place? Malifaux isn't played like that - You get to choose your master after seeing the strategy and terrain.
  16. What. The Silent One is easily worth six points, what are you talking about? Oh, well, there's your problem. Rasputina only takes a -1 to Ca when casting through the Silent One. You must be looking at the V1 or something, because that's totally incorrect. The wording of the rule is:
  17. Coryphee Duet. It looks gorgeous, does its job well and is well worth its 14 points without being broken. If I had only one problem with the thing, it's that I see a lot of Colette players coming to rely upon it because its so good, and not really learning how to utilize the rest of their crew as well as they could.
  18. I actually think that a couple Native Americans siding with the Neverborn would be really interesting as both groups empathize with each others' situations.
  19. Because Ramos' avatar is so awesome everything looks bad in comparison. In all honesty, I don't know much about Raspy's avatar, and I don't know if I care to. Her normal form is so incredibly effective that I have never felt the need to look at it.
  20. As Koali and Nephalumps stated, she doesn't get to choose a prey when she turns into the Shikome, as the Shikome isn't summoned. Sorry, buddy.
  21. So, you've fought the Mature Nephilim. You've ripped apart the Executioner. The Coryphee lay in splintered pieces, and you've sent Bad Juju to the end more times than you can count. But now, you face your greatest opponent. A fearless enemy that strikes with explosive might! Do you have the courage to face... ...THE BIRDS?! Coming to an Aethervox near you: Doves. Versus. Everything.
  22. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Why in the world is a battle-seasoned warrior showing more skin than the actual hookers and showgirls? That said, as long as Malifaux keeps its Victoriosteamhorrowestpunk thing going, I'm quite happy with the minis themselves. And they seem to be doing an excellent job of this. Steampunky, but not too steampunky; wild west, but not way too wild west; gothic, but not too gothic; creepy, but not too cree- what am I kidding, there's no such thing as too creepy. As far as the rules go, I think there only really needs to be some minor tweaks to the balance of a few masters here and there and we're good.
  23. The trick with Arcanists, perhaps more than with any other faction, is that our masters rely upon syngergy with their minions. You can't really play each model as its own guy, you always have to be thinking about how it fits into the greater tactics. As a faction, we can set up some very sick combos (a properly executed showgirl poisoning is a beautiful thing, as is the deluge of icy hell that Rasputina can let loose with when Bite of Winter is active on her, channeling through a Silent One) but you have to know your crew and how they work with each other. So yes, like the others have said, let's see a list of what you've got and we'll give you some pointers.
