  1. I can answer your first question. LJ's Blind Justice spell creates an aura that gives those (but not her) within it the same ability as Perdita's ability See the Unseen. The biggest advantage of this is that it negates Pandora's Expose Fears, which requires you to beat her in a Willpower duel. Increases in Df could come from abilities that grant higher Df vs ranged attacks, like when firing into melee (the defender gets +1 Df per model it is engaged with). I don't have my books handy for the other three.
  2. Lucidicide is correct. When a model is summoned it receives slow *IF* it activates the turn it was summoned. So if the Flesh construct activates he'll already have slow. Discarding a card keeps Dumb from applying slow, but since you'd already have Slow it wouldn't matter. If you discarded a joker for Fast, then it would cancel out the slow from summoning.
  3. For me it depends on the model. I'm just as likely to buy a model to paint as I am to use it. Some of the new plastics are cool looking, but I don't know if the scale has been one I like. Things are smaller proportionally overall, and it doesn't feel like I'm painting in 30mm scale. I don't know if they'll go back, but I have picked up some of the alt masters to paint (at some distant point in the future when I figure out how to manipulate time) as I like their sculpts better.
  4. When a model is paralyzed it's activation, "doesn't occur," in the sense that activation effects (like poison and such) don't go off, but they still count as having activated. They don't get an activation though (confused yet?). About the only effect of "activating" a paralyzed model is that they'll get their melee threat range back (since they would no longer be paralyzed).
  5. Having been on the receiving end of Mordeqai's Izamu more often than I'd care to remember I'd have to say that he is overpowered. It's true Fetid, he is. In my opinion the big issue with Izamu comes down to his healing flip. Anytime he deals severe damage he gets to make a healing flip, and with the Dadao's positive twist on damage you're going to be able to cheat damage a significant portion of the time. Having a defense of 5 when models of a similar caliber means that he's going to be harder to hit, and if he gets his riposte and cheats damage there's a healing flip for him. The positive twist on his attacks increases the likelihood of him getting up to severe without a cheat. With his object 2 reducing incoming damage you have to dedicate a lot of attacks at him, and if he gets his riposte off there's the chance that you'll be taking a step or two back in your attempts to destruct him. Throw in the Grave Spirit and the job just got harder. From what I've encountered some of the better (read: more viable, not necessarily effective) tactics for Izamu are: Shoot him with an unending barrage or after he activates, and avoid him. In smaller games you can't spare the models/resources to try and take him on, and in larger games you're going to have other threats to deal with. When you're trying to achieve schemes and strategies Izamu is a pain, but if all you do is focus on him then maybe you can take him out. The tradeoff there is that your opponent gets to maneuver his models and achieve his schemes and strategy. This is just Izamu in general, and I haven't even addressed what happens when he's taken with a specific master. Watch Nicodem paralyze models attacking Izamu, only for Izamu to steamroll them on his activation. McMourning has enough attack power to start chewing through models without regard. Kirai is Kirai. Seamus is the only one I haven't really messed around with, but having fast belles to pull models into Izamu's melee range where they will likely stay a turn or two is a probable strategy (don't quote me on this though).
  6. Finished up these two lovely ladies last night and wanted to share! Now with pictures! And Perdita herself The worded version with these pics: http://mydnightshobbycorner.blogspot.com/2013/03/quick-on-draw.html
  7. Not a bad list to start. I've been doing a lot of research into Guild as I'll be doing a Team Tournament with a friend and have had to pick up Guild Models. Perdita is my likely choice, but some models that are really solid to consider: Brutal Effigy ~ at 4ss you get Melee expert with a standard Guild loadout of stats with the requisite damage trigger built into his combat. He's also got object 1, so that gives him a little more survivability. Icing on the cake is that he has a 0 action healing spell. The only issue with him is that you can't take the Enslaved Nephlim (can't take totems and effigies unless you're Neverborn). I love the way Francisco looks, and he's definitely a solid 5ss model with some awesome combat potential. My concern with him is that he is a bit low on the wounds end, which may not see him get in combat as much. Just something to consider depending on a) what strat/schemes you're going for, and what faction you're up against. Witchling Stalker is a pretty awesome model. He's got a sweet combat, magic weapon, and standard Guild damage profile. The point where he really shines is his Disrupt Magic 0 action, which is going to make things difficult for your opponent if they try to cast spells within 6" of the stalker when it's up, and it only affects enemy models to boot (remember that if you have a penalty to flip then you can't cheat). If you swapped out the Nephlim and Francisco and replaced them with the Brutal Effigy and a Witchling Stalker, your cache would go down to 5, but you'd have some extra strength and a bit of trouble for your opponent Again this is only my insight. Try different builds and go with what works for you, and try to give models a few games to shine or not (it takes me a few games to get my head wrapped around a model. You could be better at that than I ). Ultimately I say go with what you have fun with the most. Hope this helps :-)
  8. Several questions came up last night in my game with Fetid Strumpet regarding aCriid. Pyre 1.) Are the Pyre markers placed together or can they be placed separately? The wording suggests the latter but I'd like to be sure. 2.) What is the source of damage from these markers in terms of schemes/strats? Is the damage from Sonnia, or is it like a burning token where the source is the token (in this case pyre) itself? 3.) The wording on Pyre states that a model takes damage when *it* moves into base-to-base contact with it. Does this mean that the model itself has to move into base contact to trigger this effect? What if a 30mm model is fully enveloped within the 50mm marker? 4.) If a model is pushed, placed, or summoned in base to base contact with a Pyre marker, does that count as having moved into it? Searing Wave 1.) Do abilities like Hard to Wound affect the damage flip for Searing Wave? If so how do you figure out which model affects it if two models fail the resist? For example, Copy Cat Killer and a Rotten Belle both fail their resist flip, but since there's only one damage flip (that cannot be cheated) is it affected by the Belle's Hard to Wound, or do I get to choose who I flip against? I think I've gotten down all the questions that came up. Any help would be appreciated :-)
  9. Charge is a 2AP action that involves a move and a strike, and I think mounted combat is similar. Wanted to chime in that I keep seeing people refer to damaging their own undead with Nicodem and Decay, but you have to remember that Decay on friendly undead heals 2 wounds instead. So if you put your own undead up there (MZ's are neutral) and spam decay then you'll only need the one target (until Pandy kills it somehow).
  10. So I finally have a large majority of my Colette Crew finished. The only pieces left are an Oiran and a Performer, but I'm not sure if I'll need them for Adepticon so they're being set to the side temporarily. . You can read my thoughts/perspectives for these models on my blog, which you can find the entries for here: http://mydnightshobbycorner.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-show-must-go-on.html http://mydnightshobbycorner.blogspot.com/2013/02/dance-like-no-one-is-watching.html http://mydnightshobbycorner.blogspot.com/2013/01/are-you-watching-closely.html
  11. I definitely recommend talking to the TO or Wyrd for any official Wyrd events, and if they give the all-clear, definitely let them know when you're in person at the event. And yes Mordeqai, you can borrow models/cards as needed since I'll be bringing Arcanists.
  12. Don't encourage him Nix or else they'll all be wanting daily updates.

  14. So I just got my order of the Guild Riflemen, and I opened the box to find these waiting for me: I am VERY excited about this! With the Riflemen being put on individual sprues it will be 10x easier to assemble them, and since I only need one at the current time it's perfect since I can just assemble the one and have it the rest be sitting pretty in their sprues. And for those wondering, the card text reflects the exact text in the book. Great job on these Wyrd!
  15. I haven't planned any events for January yet, and if I do it'll either be late January or Mid February. The holidays have been really stressful for me this year.

Had to share! I really liked how these turned out, and if you want to know how I painted them then check out my blog (http://mydnightshobbycorner.blogspot.com/2012/10/trophy-wights.html) Here's some close ups of the trophies: 1st/Molly 2nd/Dead Doxie 3rd/Rotten Belle

No entry fee, I'll have 3-4 Crews available or you can bring your own! So come on out if you're in the Central IL area and play some Malifaux!
  22. I own all the models mentioned in the OP, and having a difference in scale isn't fun. If the Neverborn are skin walkers they sure don't look like it, and a change in scale isn't going to give me that impression either. I look at the difference between the rail-crew and the Union Workers. BIG difference. I'd like to see less variation in the size.
