  1. good question... i wouldnt mind hearin some people speak up on this... ive been playing 25 ss and lately have tried adding bette noir at 9 ss and it seems like so much of a sink when its close to half your crew.. i feel like 2 -3 other models is far more efficient?
  2. great advice guys... thanks a ton. yea we were discussing adding more terrain.. at least more smaller bits of terrain.. this prospect seems like a good one plus it seems sooo much more fun and cinematic too! defensive stance huh? yea, forgot about that one.. do a lot of people out there use it? yea i hear the warmahordes rush.. i wouldnt say we rush full in we definitely play our way up the board but there definitely still is a tendency to go for the throat early.. im yet to play out the legendary game of being beaten by a crew that no longer exists.. thats plain awesome. well, heres to many more awesome games... thanks again everyone. im sure the game will change as it matures in our crew.
  3. thanks for some quick replies... the game has not stopped being fun... just wondering if we're approaching it wrong... the crews are varied... we pretty much cover all factions.. no one in particular is winning all the games or has had crazy advantages. we have come from the past 4 years of warmahordes. i believe part of the problem may be that we play a lot of shared strategy games because we're still trying to get the hang of the different types and stuff so ultimately we're both going towards the same objectives. we do have winners in the end im just curious to if we were to say play in a tourney sometime would it be a very different game? anyway thanks a lot... the next few games im going to really try to hold out on the engagement aspect just to see how it plays out...
  4. Ok... was hoping to pop on and get some advice about this... Me and my buddies never really achieve turn 6. It seems like we are playing the game wrong? Now, I know the game itself is not about just battling each other and killing models and we get this and have been slowly moving away from this but it seems like we end up engaging quickly and by turn 3 or 4 most of the game is already played out? Not much left. I know we are still a bit slow at playing and drinking scotch and beers during play does nothing to speed up the process... but we are getting quicker and i was wondering: what is the typical game flow? are people usually setting up and maneuvering during the first several turns ? is it more of a dance and less of a train wreck? Do people pass and wait till later turns before committing? How do people strategize for 6 turns and make for a crew that is still capable? Do people grab objectives early or wait? Just hoping for some different insights and play styles concerning Malifaux as a 6 turn game? Our game group is hoping to re-assess the way we approach this? thanks!

  6. yea, love the idea of townfolk in game... good call guys.
  7. hey, quick comment here.. (by the way the shared treasure bat rep is just about done just waitin on one guy)... but i would like to ask any of you out there.. if you have any advice for our crews or ideas to help us as players to write a comment under the bat rep.. that would be awesome and helpful! dont feel like you have to go out of your way but any help would be appreciated, we're a relatively new bunch of guys at malifaux. thanks.
  8. Heres an old battle report that for some reason never got posted but i found it hidden inside the blog somewhere and decided to post it up... also we are just about finished with a seamus vs justice vs ramos shared treasure 3 player game that will be up early this week.. (thank god the groups staring to play malifaux again!)... http://blog.livetocrush.net/2012/10/06/malifaux-battle-report-colette-vs-seamus/#comments
  9. i would try priming white... i personally hate black primer.. i can never see what im painting, brighter colors will never be bright, and multiple coats leave models chunky.. just something to try.
  10. lookin real good... i put up a storm strider for clash for a cure myself.. you should check it out.. http://www.livetocrush.com the problem i run into with models like this is whether or not to go all blood splatter up in there.. i mean with all that exposed muscle and flesh it seems really weird to have such a clean look... but im always afraid to ruin my work by spitting and flicking red/brown paint everywhere... so i end up doing very similar curious as to where you stand on this topic... ive been seeing this in malifuax with the undead and stuff so? watta ya think? to splatter or not to splatter? that is the question. anyway nice stuff as always.
  11. nice work... lovin the sweater texture on mortimer! nice details brotha
  12. yea totally sketchy peeping tom style photo... haha.
  13. great title to this thread.. nice caccoon style feel to the primordial magic?
  14. this is the part of the thread where some idiot says you should just give them to them for free.. problem solved.. figured i would take that slot and offer to take the burden off your hands... ? wow.. tough crowd tonight. anyway there is something liberating and absolute about claiming only one faction and getting to know those models, paint them, and not buy anything else.. with that said i think you should choose your favorite and get rid of the rest.. if not you will eventually need to get all of every faction you own. good luck... im a rezzer for life... ive chosen to never play any other factions...EVER. or else i would have to buy everything..
  15. good stuff.... the problem is the cards... the fate decks stick to each otther like crazy and the puppet and retro decks are super thin and slippery... as much as i love the suits and wyrds decks.. i wish they would make a solid playing card deck that had the right coating and thickness of card as a quality regular deck so cardistry and a few more tricks would be possible... it would totally add to demos and stuff too! i think we'll see one eventually.
  16. groton huh, my grandpa was a WWII sub vet.. good memories of going to the sub museum there... me and my pals play in central CT, we mostly play for fun and not too competitive but you could probably swing up for a game if you wanted. www.livetocrush.com
  17. would definitely be down with some of that good stuff... keep me posted about this.
  18. who can yan lo hire for his crew with rezzers? and who can he hire if he's running as ten thunders? curious on this part..?? thanks homies.
  19. wow... nice to see things come together like this.. i may try an hour for hour shot next cool model i paint... thanks for the inspiration.
  20. havent been on these forums in a while... nice seamus man! im a big orange fan.. and the peachy color scheme on seamy is really tasty... nice work.
  21. Man, crazy busy summer... not much time for computers.. but figured i would post up a few more photos: hopefully i will be back at painting my rezzers soon.. another belle and of course bette noir. this leaves me with a seamus crew that looks something like this: ---------- Post added at 03:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:35 PM ---------- had a couple of requests too for some tips so first up is my dead flesh technique, followed by how i paint my bases: so first i do a green wash first using these three colors: (now for some reason i didnt take a photo of just the green wash but these are some zombies im working on for someone and it looks just like this) once the green wash is put on and i mix a bit of water with it so it goes on like an ink wash (high areas stay a little lighter and creases get a little darker) i then mix up my flesh mix. its a combo of white, basic skin tone, and light fleshtone. i use a lot of mixing medium to make this transparent and build up layers.. like 4 or 5 layers until things are perfect! use more basic and light flesh tones to give more life to the recently undead or more white for less life and longer dead... my bette is a good example of whiter and my belle with the baby blue and pink with blonde hair is a good example of a little more life left still (using more of the light fleshtone mixed in)... finally i mix mixing medium with a tiny bit or purple and wash some of the areas like around the eyes or in a bruised area... i then build up the flesh again a little around it so its not sooo purple and blends in.. you can do tiny washes here and there of greens again or yellow greens... then again build up the fleshy whites in layers to help blend in more... you can go as crazy as you want or just stick with the initial build up.. renessaince artists used this green under tone underpainting technique to achieve blood under the flesh look... but if you use whites and never really glaze down with pure reds or roses or pinky flesh tones you achieve a zombie appearance.. the technique is called verdaccio i think? ---------- Post added at 03:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:45 PM ---------- heres the first build up of skintones: second build up... only a little at a time if you want it to look good.. too much paint without mixing medium will be a disaster and not give you that translucently dead feel.. the purple i use followed by the purple wash: and pretty much finished look... with extra white in the zombie eyes. ---------- Post added at 04:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:48 PM ---------- so to finish the bases i first base coat grey: then i give the portion in the circle a wash of watered down black ink: then i take the base color grey and paint back onto the tops of the bricks: then i mix with lighter grey and do a highlight on the blocks around edges and corners and such: then i glaze over the whole inner circle part with griffin sepia a citidel ink wash: then i clean up with the base grey around the circle tightening it all up: done!, on some of my bases i put blood spots too.. which is exactly as outlined above but i at then end mix up some griffin sepia wash and some vermillion and water it down a bit and apply liberally! thats it... enjoy and hope this helps peeps out.. later.
