  1. Remember, Use Soulstone is an ability too. something rather disgusting you can do with Ramos is take a large steampunk arachnid. Turn 1, activate it, kill it with ramos or the toolkit's controlled detonation. Lazarus moves up, picks up 2 of the scrap counters, assimilates Use soulstone off Ramos permanently. Turn 2 onwards, do stuff with the added benefit of being able to assimilate all sorts, while also being able to use all those soulstones that Ramos doesnt really need unless he avatars. only problem is, Ramos most definitely will be avataring (since his avatar is so awesome, why wouldnt you?). @Ratty - wouldnt you be able to copy the armour anyway, since it would be from a different source? you could copy armour 2 off ramos, and you would then have armour 2 (from ramos) plus armour 1 (from patchwork armour, different armour source).
  2. Hi folks, I am planning on running some Malifaux demos this coming thursday 20th october. The event will be held at open gaming on behalf of WARPS society in University College Cork, Ireland. This is held Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm, and is held in the electrical engineering building room G1. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in trying out Malifaux, feel free to come along and check it out. Cheers Michael
  3. Pushes are like normal movement. If the model can fit, it can go there. pushes towards/ away are the same, with the proviso that the model moving must end its push closer to the target than it was at the beginning of the push pushes directly towards /away must be in a straight line directly towards the target.
  4. SnG, you almost have it right. casting into melee, before you determine casting totals, you need to flip to see who you hit. firstly declare your target. You then flip 1 card for your target, 1 for each model in its melee range, and 1 for each enemy model engaged with it. If any model in the melee is Ht 3, you flip 2 cards for them. The model with the lowest card flipped is your actual target. Next, you determine your casting total as normal, taking any cover modifiers into account when ranging on your actual target. Next you determine the resist total of the actual target. This is their resisting stat +1 for each enemy model it is engaged with, + their resisting flip. You are resisting against the casting total. In order to resist you need to *beat* the casting total. Friendly models will always have to flip to resist against a spell cast against them, so long as there is a resisting stat. However, you may always choose to disregard the card flipped for resisting and autofail the resist with a combat total difference of 0 (i.e. :-fate on damage) What this means is that in addition to being mandatory, it is in your interests to flip for resisting regardless, as the chance of flipping low for resisting is quite high. This will cycle low cards out of your deck and also give you a better chance of getting moderate and severe damage (and thence the blast markers). Since these will only hurt non undead models, this is all to the good.
  5. so, did you think of making a sculpt of it and sending it to wyrd? that's just about the perfect model for the avatar. really and truly fantastic.
  6. Blasts will only generate off of the initial hit. So in the Specialists case, if you flip severe you will place 2 blast markers only. Anyone (apart from the initial target) touched by the blast markers will suffer 3 damage.
  7. You are right. First to the stage activates before the game begins. Confident activates after the game starts, but before the first activation phase.
  8. actually, 1) yes 2) no. willpower buffs are transient. unless they are permanent you cant Succumb a third time, as it leaves the potential to cause Seamus to go to negative Wp, which isnt allowed.
  9. it doesnt matter - you cannot pacify and incite the same model, and since the duplicates are avatar colette until you do wounds to them, you cannot cast both pacify and incite on them at the same time. however - once you damage one of them, you will find out if its a decoy. if it is, then it no longer is part of the shell game with respect to targetting etc.
  10. To be honest, I would think the best solution is restrict Special forces to one per for hiring purposes, but beyond that remove the restrictions. One thing you could do in fact, to balance the effigies is to give each effigy Special forces [faction]. So for Brutal he would gain SF: Elite forces, Magical would gain SF: M&SU Assets, Hodgepodge wouldnt need one (since it ignores restrictions on hiring etc anyway), and the Carrion would gain SF: Horrors. Mysterious wouldnt gain anything, as its already got the neverborn special forces, and gives enough bonuses to neverborn masters anyway (with aetheric connection etc not affecting them).
  11. I've actually been using the Battlefoam Malifaux case for a while now, and its actually pretty damn good. Thats not to say there arent issues, but its a very good product. Just to summarise: - cost. very expensive at $130 a pop, including shipping, its a very heavy influence on the case. shipping becomes much less of an issue if you are ordering multiple cases however. - space. These things actually have a lot more space than you recognise at first. The standard loadout comes with 1 pick and pluck tray, 1 tray with 2"x 1.25" holes and 1 with smaller sizes. The tray with the smaller sizes is deceptive. larger 30mm models will have trouble fitting in, but any small model on a 30mm base can fit relatively easily, sometimes with multiples in the same hole. For instance, I use that tray for my steampunk arachnids, molemen, and ice gamin, among other things. If the model is not too tall, then you can also fit larger 30mm models in as well, by standing them upright. The pick and pluck tray may be an issue. While the system is nice, it does tend to eat up space with awkwardly shaped models. Im currently using about 2/3 of mine, and it has the following models in it: Hooded Rider conversion, Killjoy, Ice Golem, silurid (one with arm over his head), Peacekeeper, 2x sabertooth ceberus, Razorspine Rattler, Steamborg executioner, and a shikome. Many of these are custom posed, or in poses that are more awkward than usual, and so take up slightly more room than expected. - Other storage: the case has a flip pocket on the front and a zip pocket on the back. the flip pocket is rather tight, but its good for the rules manual or one of the rulebooks. The zip pocket has 2 deck pouches, a tape measure pouch, another longer pouch (i use it to store my stat cards), as well as hooks for dry erase markers etc. This pocket is rather deep as well, large enough for me to store all of the above as well as all 3 main books. The pouches are a touch tight however. -durability: the case has a rigid outer lining, which gives quite a bit of structure to the case as a whole. all in all, the battlefoam case is pretty shiney, expensive, but worth it if you and one or two friends are ordering at the same time. With regards other manufacturers: Feldherr are pretty awesome as well. one thing to be aware of though is that their cases (except for the backpack ones) are all soft cases, and so arent ideal for travel. the foam they provide in general has a good density as well. The only major gripe I have with them though is their pick and pluck foam. its not rigid enough, and it doesnt hold together all that well in the long run (I've had to reglue the foam to the baseboard twice). Despite that though, its still a good case. I was using the Feldherr Maxi for my lizardmen for quite a while.
  12. Yup, the guys have it. The initial target gains any applicable armor due to the target type, so bulletproof for ranged strikes, magic resistant for Spells, etc. Note that they do not get evasive if they are the initial target, as they aren't actually getting hit by blasts, everyone else is Against the blasts themselves, you get basic armor, evasive armor and magic resistance (if its a spell). These also cut through spirit if it was a spell that generated the blasts. One thing to note is that blasts can never trigger triggers, and do not boost damage, so Bite of Winter etc do not work on blasts (although they work just fine on the initial target).
  13. OK. the only reason I thought it might not be the case is that Special AP are applied at the start of the activation and when she transforms into something that gains them.
  14. Hi guys, When Myranda activates, she gains access to her Melee expert AP. If she does not spend this before she transforms, does she still have access to it upon transformation? for example: Myranda, at full health, activates, runs into combat, and casts Transform to transform into a Ceberus. Does she now have 1 Melee expert AP and the 2 Threeheaded Bite AP, or only the threeheaded Bite AP?
  15. Yes it continues? or Yes, it fails due to the interaction?
  16. I know. She is in the process of being updated. check back in about 2 minutes. EDIT: done. hope she's slightly more dressed up now
  17. Hi guys, I was wondering, how does the Shikome's Prey ability interact with Collodis ability to pass hits off onto nearby mannequins? If Collodi is your prey and you attack and hit, If Collodi shifts the hit off onto a nearby mannequin, do you continue to resolve the attack, or does it fail due to the interaction?
  18. I shall attempt to help out a bit. Any Issues with Myranda can be laid at my door
  19. The thing with Ice mirror however, is that you draw LoS and range from the model you are ice mirroring through.
  20. Spirit comes first, then armour etc. For example: Hans shoots Snowstorm. He manages to pull off critical strike with 2 Rams, giving him severe damage of 7. Snowstorm then resolves damage. First, Spirit reduces the damage by half to 4. Buletproof 3 then reduces this to 1 damage. Snowstorm thus takes 1 wound. Effectively, you work through a logic train: is the weapon magical? does the target have spirit ? If yes, reduce damage by half, rounding up. ignore this if weapon is magical. Does the target have armour that is effective against this attack? if yes, reduce damage by armour number. Convert Damage remaining to Wounds. Does target have Object? if yes, reduce wounds by Object number Apply remaining wounds to target model.
  21. the hiring restriction doesnt come into play - Marcus is the leader, so Kaeris isnt doing the hiring.
  22. Oh yeah, yessir. Very much so. Means I dont need to waste AP from the toolkit or BA casting it. Also, I think Ramos is just about the only model with an aura like that that it *doesnt* affect him. Tina, the executioner, the stitched, all of them have auras that affect them as well.
