  1. So yeah, same deal stands: I'm willing to trade one crew per pack of GF9 Green Stuff, so if there is anyone in the Bay Area (I'm in SF), hit me up.
  2. Slightly improved photos: http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211070.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211072.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211058.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211056.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211045.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211038.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211027.jpg http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad360/asdfghjklsebo/miniatures52211014.jpg
  3. After about a month of time one these (as well as some 15mm/Firestorm Armada minis), I finally painted all my Malifaux that I bought from my friend in Japan. Not the best paint jobs, but I think they're table worthy. The arm was missing on one of the Death Marshall, so I took liberty in giving him a "hard to kill/slow to die" look. Also my first attempt at OSL. Slop Haulers and Proxies ----- Also, I'm not sure where I can do this, but I will be need to trade (in green stuff) or sell (green paper) all of these. I'm in San Francisco now.
  4. It changes from match up to match up. My Gremlins do well against Zori, against Von Schill... luck is always against me. It's funny how people played them off as weak. Well, they make most Gremlin units useless, Bayou only do 1/1/2 damage (or does 1 damage become 0 due to armor?), Young'ins while tiny only require one hit from Von (his weakest), and outside of Rami and Bayou, Gremlin's range is 8 inches. Blast has no effect, and while yes Slop Haulers are excellent, 2 point action to heal (can they use reckless to move and then heal? can they heal themselves?) in close proximity which is great for specialists. And yeah, their damage out is good with dumb and lucky, but with a leader with nimble and good range one his overpowered pistol (with critical hit to top it off), you lose health to deal more only to get finished off. Of course it doesn't help that I lose nearly every duel, and my opponent pulled 10 rams for healing (out of 12) and heals 3 wounds 90% of time, where as I keep getting only one 1 to offset reckless (which was used to avoid getting killed in the open). This exact thing has been happening for 5 games now, and I'm always using cover, never failing because of being out of range (just failing to hit because of cards), etc. Of course you can blame it on the cards, but then why the hell are there tournaments for a game dependent on dice rolls or cards and people claiming that they "got that opponent in the bag" as if it were a show of skill?
  5. The gnome pictures are nightmare fuel. *~* Like the house though (like all of your other work). curtsy, and hugs from me :flirt:
  6. Whatever I listen to when not painting... 7. Aside from the Bayou Gremlin bits, what did you use? Also, AWESOME. Makes sense about the moving back after shooting rule. Just make sure terrain is accessible or she'll file a lawsuit.
  8. LOL. This forum needs a rep function. ----- Swimming, biking, used to partake in PC gaming, playing Virtua Fighter, drawing and writing, studying science/history/Japanese, and listening to music.
  9. Sonnia vs. 'korps, what do you do? Maybe I'm just basing this on the fact that the last game I had totally favored his team: limited terrain ideal for sniping but enough for reposition to avoid Austringer, better range on Von Schill/Trapper (everyone else I have only had 10"), better shooting/speed (Korpsman with CB5 on shooting vs. guild guard's 4) and defense and AoE means nothing. Plus, the Librarian healing 3 times a turn?! (it didn't help that he also had the best cards in every combat, I kept getting weak or the black joker, and I never had enough for casting) The only thing that kept Sam and Sonnia alive was flame wall, but I still lost everything. Any advice aside from making sure we have more terrain next time and praying to the card gods? ----- I think as long as my opponent is gonna keep using the I need to rely on my Beloved Ophelia (and Rami).
  10. Lies, all lies. Stop reading M&SU propaganda, they always misrepresent the noble leader.
  11. Maybe a magical weapon (vs. spirits)? But then again, Witchlings have that at half the cost. The only reason why I could ever see using Hans instead of Nino is because I don't like Nino's model at all, but then again I'd rather proxy with: http://privateerpress.com/files/products/mercenaries/solos/kell-bailoch.png -------------- Glad there is a thread already dedicated to this topic because I really want to start a Guild force (I like shooty for the most part). Though I plan to get all book one masters and Luci at some point, I don't know where I should start. Part of me really likes Perdita because I like the western feel and the high number of uniques, but I don't want to start off with one of the best masters right away because of "I don't like cheese all that much"-reasons. Part of me really likes Criid because AoE without the risks of running a Papa, the appearance of witchlings, etc. but I dunno. Lastly I really like LJ, but I don't understand how pine box works no matter how many times I read it. :/ I don't know which to get first, but perhaps knowing what my opponent plays can help. My Opponent has: Pandora (never uses though), but I hear Perdita is a good counter, but then again he never uses this crew. Zora (the only one he used thus far), dunno who is best against her, and I just think I was lucky with Ophelia the last 2 times. He is getting a Friekorps ready, and I know that their armor negates AoE/magic/etc., but they're generally very squishy (apparently). He has also expressed great joy in hearing that Hamelin is coming soon, and I hear this guy is this closest thing to a boring-nightmare to play against in the game (I read terror and AoE, as well as killing rat catchers is key to winning). And because I play Gremlins (only Ophelia), Ht 1 models can't do a thing (wtf?!), and we only play slaughter because of language barriers (my Japanese isn't good enough and he knows very little English). So with this all in mind; who would be the best master to pick? I do know that regardless of who I pick, an Austringer and guards (?) are a good idea (already own a Governah's proxy).
  12. With Malifaux, fluff and how faction is played is the most important. I like Gremlins because of I really like their fluff, their appearance, and how they play (or rather how I play with them). While I have only used So'mer only once, I really like Ophelia's simple yet often hilarious play style. Also another benefit of playing gremlins and cutting out your own storage foam: they take up considerably less space. Also another factor for me liking them is because they're the only faction I can bring myself to paint. I don't know what is wrong with me, but I have big trouble painting humans, I find them boring. And while The Guild might fit my "distance-defensive" play style, I don't think I could bring myself to paint them. And I already own Ophelia, starting Ortega might be a little (very) redundant. Though right now I'm busy as hell with my school schedule, I plan to paint the 4 remaining piglets and Youngins' (Gretchin proxies) when the break comes around. But I think I won't be able to make my self paint my Litih/Zori... just can't.......
  13. http://www.bibliobase.com/history/readerscomp/ships/html/sh_065900_northriverst.htm A nice idea of how big to make it maybe? ----- Other game ideas could also include (house rules required) boarding attacks (non-neverborn using 1 or more smaller ships to get aboard). Or the ship can be in a dock. Game types could be assassinate, steal the evidence, sink the ship (hide the evidence, lol). A four decked ship comprising of a steam/under deck, the "affordable quarters," upper class, and captain/crew. Throw in civvies while you're at it. I was thinking of buying a model of a Wright plane (1/48?), maybe when I come back to the States, maybe coming up with a "destroy the prototype before take-off/steal the plans" kinda game set on a simple airfield.
  14. I was just thinking that. Also, what about aura effects, and other things similar that don't require LoS?
  15. I'm planning to tell my LGS to order in some gretchin for proxying Youngin's and regular Bayous. As for the other stuff... dunno, but Gobbos from Warmachine should be easy to use.
  16. Gremlins. I'm biased, and I don't know what I'm talking about because I only played 2 games so far, but you have a lot of variety with what is already available. With So'mer you've got kooky crap, and with Ophelia you've got harder hitting kooky crap. The only "problem" with Gremmies (and I guess malifaux) is that there aren't enough alternative models for inexpensive units (I'm thinking of getting gamins and alps and maybe modding them, even though me and green stuff do not get along), but I think that "problem" will also plague the freikorps as well. But then again it really boils down to you. I'm trying to, for the first time in my life, not care about the result of a game/match and through Malifaux I figured "what is a better way to do so than with a fun team to use?" If you have that mentality, I say with a 100% certainty: Gremlins. But again, this is coming from me, and I haven't played enough, much-less versus Hamelin, or any schemes asides from slaughter (yet). Though I must say, Obey sucks :/
  17. This. And more alternate models. Also to second the preacher gremlin and his devout 50mm mob (with an ability like "Book burning" that debuffs/negates tome based spells, and being immune to influence). "If we came from slurids, why is it that you never see one give birth to a gremlin?!" Other ideas: A new gremlin crew that has been living in the slums for a long time and is more "so-fist-tick-cated" than their Bayou brethren. Crew would include a Slum-lord boss, city gremlins, street urchins, pimp/ladies, boot-leggers, inventor + constructs etc. Maybe have a sub-sect/henchmen with sewer based gremlins and a "Crazy Rat Woman." Miner Gremlins; used for slave labor, but escaped. Burly, melee based, lots of bury usage, and skills like "black lung" which work like stitched-together's anti-ranged cloud. Maybe Ht 2? More pigs, like an immature/mature/sow. A pig rider, like the hooded. Maybe another crew of gremlins that have been earthside and came back? etc. Personally I wouldn't mind Gremlins becoming their own faction and the game being renamed Gremifaux
  18. Got So'mer (and Ophelia), Lilith, and 'Doria. Lilith and 'Do-tits were kinda impulse buys, but I wanna paint them up, and maybe sell them to someone here in Japan to get people playing it here. As for other masters... Guild seems kinda, bleh. Ressers, if it isn't green or it doesn't oink, I don't wanna summon it. Arcanists... no thanks. Neverborn... I like the concept of Slurids, but that's it. Other Outcasts, while mercs/von seem interesting, I really don't like painting humans Can't wait to see January's releases, and what a possible book 3 will bring to the Gremmies.
  19. Hello, I'm a new player and I've managed to one game in with my So'mer crew (played very basic with almost no spell usage) and found the game fun even when limiting myself. But in all, I think I still got most of the concepts down for the game, which makes me glad because I'm leaving for Japan in a few days to study for a year and I plan to take my minis/books with me to teach the game to others when I'm there. So this brings me to the main question: what are the easiest crews to play with? I already have So'mer (as mentioned earlier), Ophelia, and Lilith, and I'm thinking of getting one or two more starters, but I'm not sure which ones I should get. All I know is from what I've read here and in the books, I should probably avoid Leveticus and Pandora, but who is simple in terms of gameplay? Thanks.
  20. I don't want to start a new thread as this one is already here; Hello all, I'm also new and in the Bay Area (for another week, and then I'm moving to Japan for a year for school). I had my first game today with my So'mer crew, and while I lost badly, it was a riot. I'm gonna try to play as many games as possible this upcoming week so I can learn the basics and then be able to play and teach this game for when I get to Japan. Also... Hi XANGO!
