  1. I've reduced my Ashigaru down to one now in most of my base lists, how do you tempt people to charge in Chris? I don't have the points for a credible ranged threat and with their speed I don't find them on objectives often. I mostly use them for the one action charge (maybe double depending on opponent melee range) and would love to get some more use out of them. You know, I've actually never thought about it that way. I guess that's the same, but I've plainly never thought to do the walk only when they are engaged (I have done the out in the open ml only). That'd be great with Yin the way I run her.
  2. I do admit that the porter is a nice big target that pretty much all my opponents want to kill, however when Izamu or Yin are at the forefront or right near by to destroy anything wanting to get it in CC, then it's easier. If you have something paralyzed or engaged so that great melee range can pick at the back of an opponent it also becomes easier. I would think, with the nurse, there is a gamble when you don't have the low cards to ditch though. I almost always find myself with one low card and a use for her drugs though somewhere within her sphere of influence. Except scheme runners, they usually aren't admittedly in range when it would be better to use movement drugs to greater effect.
  3. I guess it's just how you like your flavor of healing. If it's summoned then no, it's probably not worth using the nurse on... But in that case you can juice one of your guys or even heal/paralyze an opponents model rather than simply slow them with Chiaki. Once you dump a chi point or three on the nurse you have pretty reliable paralyzing on tap from her, freeing up your heavy hitters to gang pile vulnerable models safely (reducing the need to heal them with the nurse and maybe just touching up with Yan Lo). I see the nurse as an extremely cost-effective piece of utility/toolkit that any Yan Lo Resser crew should consider bringing one.
  4. I play Yan Lo as pure resser with a list similar to that (I like the nurse). If they don't die, the nurse only really slaps them with paralyze so her and Chiaki can tag team heal pretty much anyone in the crew to full as needed from a decent range. I like the crew well enough, but for my playstyle the juggerdillo that can be this crew really isn't always all that different game-to-game. Just like being able to kill crews well in Malifaux doesn't mean victory, a likewise highly defensible crew amounts to just as much. I love his fluff, and I think almost 95% of crew builds can still win most games, but in this case Yan Lo is just not the first master I reach for when I have a team or singles game at this point.
  5. I hate to say it, given that he was my first official M2E Master, but Yan Lo really does feel that way. He's not really that synergistic with his crew for the most part. He's not bad, but because he's not outstanding in any one area he feels very much the neutral duck in the pond. I have many times the memories of what the crew has done over what he's done. I can't say the same about any other master I've played with in M2E though, since they stand should to shoulder with their crews in memorable experiences.
  6. It was a joke in the spirit of the thread. For the record I'm also one of the Pandora players swayed to the idea that blasts are used as well. Not that I see it come up often given the opponent masters I'd regularly see.
  7. That's not an attack, that's an effect.
  8. Look I'm right there with you on Vasilisa, but it feels a bit rude to Wyrd to make a thread like this. If you want ideas for yourself, then it'd probably just be easier to ask in a thread for someone to PM you rather than make a bigger deal out of it. It certainly would be a start to just list the model names and links vs. images. If people are looking for proxies they have the time to click a small amount of links under the name.
  9. The issue I'm seeing is that, somehow, people are taking the Hanged as having priority when so far in this game that hasn't been the case (even to the extent of activating models staking conditions/triggers in ways I feel a little one-sided). I see the activating model having priority. In any case though, I don't really care which way this ruling would fall tbh given that I don't forsee myself being in this situation ever. Mainly due to not playing with either model at this time. XD
  10. Beta rules were just around, as it stands though Avatars will be limited to Campaign games. Their replacement, of sorts, are the conflux upgrades for the faction emissaries. Their rules also were available until very recently in beta format as well. Pretty much every faction gets a 10 pt model with upgrades for every Master.
  11. I want one of the cases, but paying the same as I did for the case in shipping is ridiculous to me. Toss in the foam and it's all of ten bucks worth of difference. (Irritating btw how the loaded new case + foam has lower shipping than the single, empty, misprint.)
  12. It's not really that odd, if you charge you're not affected by the aura effect that activation. Pretty simple there.
  13. Right. It mostly boils down to the activating player having priority to declare the first action, in this case it's declared and then the defender responds as they can. In this case the hanged don't really do much, though two shut out everything trying to avoid just one.
  14. If the wording for Unrelenting Terror is exactly "Enemy models in a4 which did not Charge this model during the current Activation lose all Immunities to Horror Duels, including Immunity gained by passing a Horror Duel." then it appears to be checking after the activation whether or not to strip immunity. He is charging during the current activation though... so it's passing Unrelentings criteria unless I'm missing some text or something. Edit: I'm sure afterwards you can use the ability by every other model (hence the "current activation" criteria since he obviously can't charge on other activating models turns) though. Edit edit: I'm seeing the other way to read it here, I guess it comes down to how you're going to resolve the past-tense "did not" bits with the "current activation". If you consider it to kick in before he ever makes an action then it strips, if it checks to see if he charges from his first action onward (if he charges then) it shouldn't affect this model then.
  15. Slightly stale topic but you can also use the plastic cements out there (ask or search around for a good one that won't cause frosting) to coat the sprue pieces and then you should be able to wiggle them around as you please. Another thing to do if you want a tapered end is an old model hobby trick of sprue + open flame, put it close enough to soften the plastic via heat (dunno if you can use other heat sources btw), but not close enough to catch fire or blacken from the soot, and slowly pull the sprue piece apart. This create a longer, thinner piece that we'd make antennae with but with the plastic cement tip above you should be able to make even more numerous tentacley bits of sprue weirdness.
  16. I was afraid the +1 was how other people ran it, I was running into the same timing issue so I was afraid I was stubbornly convincing myself of the wrong way. So yay, I guess, I played it the right way but it wasn't the way I hoped it would turn out. The defensive thing is one I'd like to find out though, that one I see the validity of both sides and I actually use the defensive one more than the armor as it is. :/
  17. Alright, simple enough thing that I was thinking of the other day. Collodi can pass out a condition from his own activations, normally I would just use Focus but for defensive times I was thinking of the Armor he can gain. Wooden claws grants armor, but armor stacks... So the question is does Collodi consider the armor condition he can pass out to his puppets/minions before or after seeing how much is there? (Tl;dr Can I use Fated and Strings of Fate to toss Armor +4 out to my crew?)
  18. I really like the way that sounds. I've noticed, in many miniature gaming communities, the exact sort of behavior by painters outlined in this thread. I can count on one hand the number that didn't follow this trend, which truly is a shame. One case I was in the middle of long long ago was a talented painter who was getting lazy, he let the masses fluff his ego to the point where his skills stopped improving and it came to a head in one competition event where I pointed out that his source lightning on a particular model was less source lightning than "paint half the model green, ink, and drybrush it and call it sourcelighting". It was a terrible model from someone who I watched improve over the years and get complacent. Regardless, back to the topic, he pulled his mini from the comp and exited in a huff when he realized what I said was true. Had he simply had a less pampered view, he would have likely won that comp with his older (evolving) style of painting if he had listened to sense before it ever got to that point. A tier system though seems like it'd do wonders on any site using it.
  19. Hmm well I have been in epic threads where a DnD Lich and paladin threw down, I'd be up for watching some Malifaux rap/poetry battles! P.S. Lrn 2 Play OP... ...From us, we'll teach you and answer any questions you have to the best of our respective abilities.
  20. I can't complain, I get more good games than bad with cards in hand so I know just why I'm not flipping the RJ or 13s (when I have 4/5 of those in hand).
  21. If you want more cards, Stitched Together can help a small amount as well provided the target has a decently low WP.
  22. That was a disappointing read. Unfortunately I guess I'll just have to see when the time comes if anyone will part with Vasilisa then if I want a legitimate model to use.
  23. Completely forgot to mention, but Seregon had a great option for those wanting to influence the tourney scene without being overbearing. Additionally, I've been to some tournaments (only the larger ones work really), where your winning/losing places you in prize tier brackets that then get randomly assigned prizes. This leads to a more relaxed atmosphere for all but first place guys and makes for a very nice semi-casual weekend tournament.
  24. I'm not saying to be the meanest person you can by any stretch of the words, but introducing soft scores (sportsmanship or painting) when you're trying to run a skill-determining-winner tournament is the easiest way to get the "tourney crowd" to go to the next store. Introduce a league or tournament as laid-back, with custom rules/scenarios, and I'm just as sure plenty of people will line up to play also. The tournament tone should be set and enforced by the TO from the beginning so that everyone joining for the properly advertized reasons can have a good time.
