Hello, There is a tournament in two weeks and a friend of mine would take the opportunity to start malifaux. I will lend him my minis (i play resurrectionists). What would be the best choice for a beginner (we planned 2 initiation games before the tournament) ? I have : - Lady J starter v1 (lady J +judge + 3 death marshall) - scale of justice - executioneer - brutal effigy - Lucius starter v1 (lucius + ryle + guild capitain + 1 guild guard + lawyer) - 2 guild guards - 2 austringers (i can proxy the drill sergent and the scribe) For lucius, what is the simmetry between the old minis and the new profile ? Because of the names i would say : v1 v2 Guild capitain = Captain Dashel ? Drill sergeant = Guard Sergeant ? Because of the weapons i would say : v1 v2 Guild capitain = Guard Sergeant ? (he has an axe) Drill sergeant = Captain Dashe ? (he has a baton) I apologize for my bad english.

Malifaux and infinity are the only minis game i play and with these 2 games i have all the gaming experience i need (i like the analogy with yin and yang between malifaux and infinity)! I play infinity more often because there is a communty of player in my little town. For malifaux i need to go to the big city (Lyon) that is 40 miles away (please wyrd make a french traduction of the rules and the card to help the game yo grow here).

I don't know what is the cost of the shipping fees for europe but i hope if this option exist we can buy it in local store because if the shipping charges are more important than the cost of a starter box there is no interest! I have a lady j starter but without scale of justice, i think it's a good idea to buy the metal one before he's discontinued if the new one in plastic is only available in starter box!

I totally agree since we have the same problem in France. The Victorian-horror-steampunk universe, the look of the minis and the cards mechanic is very appealing for new player but when they understand that is english only they just flee!

Someone have any news about the re-release of puppet war ?

There is very small communities in big town (Lyon, Bordeaux...) and isolated players scattered around the territory. The players enjoy the background and the look of the minis but the fact that the game is only in english is a brake for its expansion! (you know the legendary love between french people and foreign languages!). I try to convinced the boss of the LGS where i play, he was very interresting but when i say that the game is only in english at the moment, he said that the player will not be involved! The small community of french player of malifaux has done a translation of the game but we are in negociation with wyrd to have the autorization of diffusing it. I hope they will accept since the game desserve to grow in France! ps: i apologize for my poor english. It's a pity since the game is very cool!

Thank you for the replies. We already allow pre-measure but she hate the fact that we have to use a rubber! I will check for terraclips but i would prefer a hex grid to fit with the 40mm and 50mm base mini (40mm =3 hex, 50mm= 4 hex like Mach 5 said).

How would you do for the 40 and 50 mm base minis?

I have tried the game with my wife this afternoon (lady J against seamus). She almost enjoy it except the measure. It remind her people playing "petanque" and arguying for hours to know who is the nearest from the "cochonnet"! So is malifaux adaptable on a grid system (like 1"= 1 case)? I know it would be better to go to puppet wars but i prefer to give a chance to malifaux!

The colette starter box disapear (not just with the mention "out of stock", it's not listed anymore) from the maelstrom website for at least 2 months, so unfortunaly it's not linked with the GenCon!

Yes but the skeleton are a bit raw. I think there is too many details that make the board "overloaded". For example, the table with the dishes on the edge...in my mind it's impassible or difficult terrain!

I'm dissapointed by the board of puppet war. Puppet war is a parody of malifaux but the board is too serious/dark...it's not enough childish to stick with the theme!

The prices are amazing...but the shipping cost for europe are 35$!

The activation system remind me the one used in a song of blade and heros (but better since it's ala malifaux...with cards : better the mini is, the harder to activate it). Moreover, the team lists are not as open as we expected since it's easier to activate a puppet which have the same suit of the master (mercenary aside) ?

The website is very well made (optionnal rules puppet is a great idea, so as the example of baby kade card when you pass your mouse over it, the toy box)!! Bravo!!! The game seems to be a must-buy! The sewing upgrade is a great idea!!! edit: in the website there is the profil for viktoria, the hooded riders, the 5 teddy...but these minis are not listed in the core set or the boosters. We will see them in another booster release?
