  1. That art in the core rule book... the one of the train... don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about! I would literally pay money for a decent resolution image of that artwork. And if you offered prints of it I would be more then willing to drop quite the large sum for a poster sized print. The image is hypnotic... I can't stop basking in it's awesomeness.
  2. As will I! =) I like your ideas, I may have to follow suit.
  3. I second LocTite, I've been using it for roughly 5 years and have only ever had 1 arm fall off in that time. And I don't pin the vast majority of my models, even some of my larger models. The setting time is spectacular as well, I give it two thumbs up. d()b
  4. I need to try something along these lines with my Wife. ^_^b Props.
  5. That's pretty good, I'm remembering that one. =P
  6. My only complaint about the book is the extremely lack luster index, so much time was wasted in our first game just trying to find keywords that weren't listed in the index or abilities section. Took us quite a while to figure out what the "Hardness" value on Rasputinas Ice Pillars meant for example. I love the book over all, and once we've got the rules down pat it wont matter anymore, but the index could certainly be more verbose.
  7. Right before the initiative flip one of the spectators started humming the tune and threw a "tumbleweed" (in the form of a dice) between the two minis. It was classic. =P
  8. Welcome aboard! I actually don't live to far from yah, I reside in Leesburg myself. When not throwing down in my basement I can often be found at Game Parlor in Chantilly, perhaps we would be able to get in a game at some point.
  9. After a month of debating with myself weather or not to purchase it online my FLGS finally received their first shipment of Malifaux products, so I broke down and finally purchased the book. =) And with that I rallied my mates and dragged them into the dungeon (my basement) to get in some proxy games so that we could all get a feel for things over the weekend. None of us had played before so I decided to play ref for the first game, since I had actually read the rule book, while 2 of my pals threw down and everyone else just watched to attempt to take as much in as they could. The match up: Ortega Gunslingers (box set) Strategy: Slaughter Schemes: Hold Out, Raid The Witch Hunters (box set) Strategy: Reconnoiter Schemes: Bodyguard, Breakthrough The ending of the game seriously felt like a classic old west Gunslinger duel! XD The only two models left on the table were Samael Hopkins and Nino Ortega and they were standing in the middle of the open staring right at each other... Both had been injured and we're definitely within range to dedicate all their AP towards shooting. It was obvious that this turn was all about who managed to nab the initiative. ----- Nino player flips a King onto the table Nino player points at his opponent "Ha! Thirteen!" Samael player nervously flips the Red Joker onto the table Samael player smiles "Red Joker!" Nino player throws his cards at the table "F***!!!" ----- Needless to say Nino's head was promptly blown off his shoulders before he had the opportunity to react. Ironically enough however, Samael had 2 more turns to try and make it to the enemies deployment zone but was unable to do so as the game did end on turn 6 leaving him about 2" short. This gave the Ortegas 2 points from Hold Out (he announced it) giving him the victory. So while he lost the battle, he won the war. Quite the fun way to end our first game of Malifaux ever, when the Red Joker was flipped for initiative the entire room exploded with excitement, literally the ONLY card in the entire deck that could have done it and he pulled it. It was certainly enough to get everyone excited about making purchases. =)
  10. I would imagine the Neverborn view all of the invaders in an equally negative light. Equal opportunity haters if you will.
  11. Gotta love the smell of fresh crac..... I mean pewter. =)
  12. My friend and I were chatting about various other ways you could run the Malifaux card mechanic to make it feel more like an actual card game, we wanted to obtain that sense of upping the ante to force your opponent to decide if its worth it or not. It would open up room for more strategies in the game as bluffing will now play a major roll much like it does in a friendly game of Poker. Here's what we came up with: Simple Duels: The same, since you're just going after a set number. Opposed Duels: - Both players still initiate the Duel by flipping the top card of the deck and adding their respective stats. - The player who's losing may now place a card from his/her hand face down on the table (or accept defeat) - The next player then may: * Call - Place a single card face down * Raise - Place two cards face down * Fold - The player voluntarily loses the duel - Both players take turns upping the ante (Raising) until one of them decides to Call or Fold - Once one of the players has Called both players reveal their face down cards - Add each card to the players respective totals - Then both players (starting with whoever is currently losing) are given the opportunity to spend a Soul Stone for a second flip We thought it would make a fun alternative, I'm sure it would clash with some of the mechanics that already exist in Malfaux, but we liked the idea of playing a game more similar to poker when conducting the Duels. It really helped drive home the Wild West feel. We've yet to try this, so can't comment on its effectiveness, but we look forward to playtesting it for ghits & siggles.

  14. I had to do the same thing while using Chrome to download them, although Firefox appeared to not have any issues.
  15. I will say, while taking nothing but units is still a viable tactic, with MKII they've made taking nothing but Jacks a feasible strategy as well. There are just so many ways to wipe out units by the bucket load now. But regardless, even when infantrymachine was running rampant it paled in comparison to the monstrosity that is Warhammer. It's definitely outgrown its Skirmish clothing, but as a Wargame it's still very reasonable.
  16. Metal toolbox of your choice + Rare Earth Magnets = WIN!
  17. I like 'em, would make great stand-ins if the need ever arose.
  18. Yah, EA is quite unique compared to most of the stuff you see coming out today. One of my favorite live performances by here is "Unlaced": (FYI, there are no lyrics, it's primarily her on the Violin) [ame] [/ame] And thanks a ton for introducing me to Abney Park, they're flippin' awesome! =)
  19. I admit, Infinity looks quite bad ass and I look forward to giving it a go at some point in the future. Every time I see an update for them the fire is fueled once more. =P
  20. Sounds like one hell of a close game though, win or lose I always enjoy the nail biters. =)
  21. Gotta cast my vote for Simple Green, that stuff has done wonders for me. I've never personally used anything else, so I can't really say it's any better/worse then anything. But I've yet to need a reason to hunt for something else.
  22. Amazing job! I'll be keeping my on this auction, I may throw out a bid depending. :fing02:

  24. @dgraz: Dude... you make me want to cry... seriously. XD If you placed stuff like that on the table opposite me I would immediately concede defeat. I would of course still play, but only to retain some form of dignity, as it would be clear that I'm already losing the battle. =P
