  1. Of course this is all for science, suuuureee... Never before did a Resser do anything for a reason other than love for... necro.. science... and vivid... dissection Seriously though? I strongly dislike being against Yin the Penangalan, she is quite often annoying. The Valedictorian and the various Students hit quite well, and the former is very mobile as well, often being troublesome. Philip and the Nanny is an awesome model, both for it's aesthetics/fluff and scheme interaction - a rather mobile static Chatty aura with Soulstone prevention (Mr. Tannen cries just thinking about this ). Canine Remains are very, very ugly with their mobility and the -1 Df aura that -stacks-. Overall I find my 10T quite balanced, if not always excelling in anything - thus the enemy make-up is not of that much concern. And if I -really- wanted to win, I could always bring Kang to feel more reassured (though I personally disfavor faction counter-picking like this). That's really interesting, thanks for that response. I haven't got hold on Yin yet, but I think she will be top of my list for next month's purchases - You are right, she seems like a disruption piece; not a huge amount of scheme and strategy to be done with her, just something to make my opponent have to think a bit. It will be a welcome change to be on that side of the headache for once! I'll also look into getting the Molly box for Phillip - I need the crooligans anyway. Thanks again for the insights!
  2. Can I ask the reverse question? As a Ten Thunders player, when you hear 'Ressers' declared, what models/abilities make you think 'I hope they don't take that/I must look out for that/I'd better take x in case they have y ability'? I ask purely in the spirit of scientific enquiry of course, not to get the inside track on an opponent's thinking! ;) 'Brown
  3. Just waiting on a response from my club mates to see how many places I'd like to book. While I'm waiting, can I get some clarification on the 100SS pool vs. summoning models? Can you only summon from the 100SS pool? If I have only paid for one of a model in the 100SS pool, can I summon that model several times? Apologies if this is common knowledge in the tournament circuit, I'm an unblemished Malifaux tournament virgin! ;-)
  4. I would love to attend - I hope that I can get enough games of Malifaux in before the tournament so I don't embarass myself (or waste my opponent's time! :-S) 'Brown
  5. Awesome, thanks guys. All of these ideas are going into my next list. Wish me luck! 'Brown
  6. If only he wasn't being run by a noob! ;-) Seriously, thanks for the input - The Valedictorian is a good steer, and Izamu is on my shopping list for next month. It appears that your thoughts turned towards cutting off the head rather than dealing with the coryphee et al - is that the way you would go? I must admit, I had written off getting at Colette, given the trouble I was having against the rest of her crew and knowing her reputation for tricksiness.
  7. Hi all, So last night I had my first game of Malifaux for about 6 months (I came down with a case of newborn babies - terror tots have nothing on these!) I played Nicodem with all the tips that I have picked up from the great advice I received on this very forum (Mortimer gutting himself for corpse counters, nurse/Chiaki combo to heal and un-paralyse, Belle to pull Nico forward so he doesn't have to waste AP moving, etc...) - I have to say, it was working pretty well. I made mistakes, I have written them down, I will read them again before my game next week. But overall, a very promising start... Then I ran into Colette - well, no, I didn't get as far as Colette - I got torn a new one by Coryphee (both apart and together), Cassandra, showgirls and mannequins. In a good way, you understand - but I'd still really like to give them some of it back next time! I went back and had a look at these models on Pull My Finger when I got home, and I reckon that what I need is: Damage that avoids defensive (by that I mean Df or Wp) flips (Blasts do this, right? What else does?) to snuff the CorypheeAnti-armour to deal with the Mannequins.I'm happy that removing mannequins/luring other showgirls away/waiting until after they've activated will let me deal with the performers OK.Does that sound about right to everyone? Apart from Nicodem's blasts on Decay, are there any other good blast attacks I could add to Nico's crew? I guess that the Student of Steel would be a good anti-armour model, are there any others? Cheers all! 'Brown
  8. Thank heavens! I could not cope with another step up in levels of awesomeness for a while! Oh, and the next edition of the chronicles is due roughly...?
  9. Thanks for that Aaron! I knew that I'd got out of step with the release schedule, which is why I was checking back in so frequently - when is the (rought) ETA for the next edition? Many thanks once more...
  10. Where are the downloads now? I've been checking for the latest chronicles every few days, but now I can't see where I would go to see if it's arrived yet.
  11. That would be great - like a mini boxset. Or at least a box set of 3 Seishin like the other minion boxes.
  12. Thanks once again for the prompt and helpful responses everyone. I shall keep my eyes on the webstore for the generic upgrades pack around Gencon time! 'Brown
  13. Whilst being firmly in the grip of Pokemon fever with my Ressers, I'm also thinking about branching out into other factions (don't tell anyone!), and I have a question about the card packs I need to get: I had the 1e Seamus, McMourning & Nico crews, plus a small range of supporting models. It made sense to get the wave 1 & wave 2 decks to get the 2e stat cards for them all, which of course also gave me all the upgrade cards. I know that the crew boxes come with the stat cards and the specific upgrade cards for models they contain, but I was wondering how I would get hold of the generic upgrade cards. Do I have to buy both the card packs for a faction in order to get them, even though I will get the stat cards for the new models I purchase in the boxes? Thanks, 'Brown
  14. Well sure, when you put it like that it's obvious... Thanks all!
  15. Thanks so much for the quick replies! Is there somewhere specific I should keep an eye on for announcements?
  16. Hi there, I was wondering if it was going to be possible to pick up Miss Anne Thrope from the webstore during Gencon? I know that the nightmare Colette crew will be available, but I couldn't see anything either way for her. Thanks, 'Brown
  17. Will have to be buying a drowned then!
  18. Thankyou so much for this zFiend, This is the tactica I would have asked someone to write, in the way I would have asked them to write it! I'm off to by the University of Transmortis box set right now! 'Brown
  19. That's a very interesting point - in my head, the SS you carry into the game are a precious resource that must be hoarded against the direst of dire fortune (which of course comes true 9 times out of 10 !). But you're right; they're just the spill over from the pool you used to buy your crew. Buy a 7 point punk zombie, or buy a belle for 5, use a SS to summon the punk zombie and still be a SS up on the deal. Of course SS do more than just purchase models during the game, and they are limited. Also MasterDisaster is right that you are (somewhat) dependent on getting the cards from your deck. But still, if you create a crew with the max soulstones (and assume that you won't be in dire straits in the first two turns) then you still have a couple a turn to play with. I shall play the next few games with a much more philosophical view of my SS pool...
  20. BTW, the level of knowledge here is brilliant! I feel like I have read and digested a pamphlet, only to realise that the 'pamphlet' was really just the dust jacket on an enormous tome... I have a lot to learn, and I'm really looking forward to it!
  21. That's interesting? Why is that? Are you saying you wouldn't use them at all, or just wouldn't pay SS for them? That's awesome.
  22. MasterDisaster: I hadn't thought of an durable speedbump - I guess another advantage of that is when my opponent realises what I'm up to, he'll try and move around the model - I should be able to make him waste a couple of turns doing that! Thanks for that zFiend - will definitely get Shikome for all those good points! How so? I believe you, but I'm not familiar with what these models do at the moment.
  23. Thanks MasterDisaster, I look forward to trying that out! I guess with an enhanced number of zombies stumbling around I'll go back to trying to lead the Rail Golem away from the action with bodies...
