__1824__4m21cm__

Infern0

After a week of deciding on the idea, my choice fell on __1824__4m21cm__

I decided, that while alternatives weren`t bad at all, this choice would serve the theme the best.  Water itself is the antagonist.
For this round I tried  a more picturesque approach to the style of painting :)
Why this girl is in the cell (and who is she) is for you to find out (I left a hint or two) :P
The whole diorama proved to be much harder to paint, than I thought: I finished with only 3 hours to spare!

Lots of painters are in gold tier. Most of them has perfect skills: sculpturing and painting. But man-o-man your atmospher is gorgeous.

There was a great terrifiic flood in city were I live. The disaster was so unberreble that till then floods became even a peculiar phenomenon of Russian culture. And yeap..the highest water point in 1824 was 4.21.

At first glance I don't understand the reference, but when my friends pointed out to me that your work inspired by painting of Konstantin Flavitsky of Princess Tarakanova",  I looked at it with another angle. It's brilliand piece, with great history behind. Мои аплодисменты)

Thank you :) it is indeed heavily inspired by this masterpiece! when I was looking through the miniatures I have, that I can use for another idea, I stumbled upon this mini of a girl with a cat. It clicked with me, I saw  humility and pride at the same time in her, and the image of her in Tarakanovas place appeared :) I was very moved by the Flavitskiy's painting, when I saw it in the Tretyakovskaya gallery as a kid. So I decided to do my own take on the scene.

Great atmosphere. This piece feels like it would have done just as well in round 1 with the strong lighting effect as it does in this one. It tells a great story and really makes the viewer pour over it to piece together what is happening (excuse the pun).

Well done!

@Octavus Thank you! Yeah, I should`ve done a couple of close ups, but I was afraid, that I`ll not make it on time.. :( And it was like 5 in the morning, so I`ve stopped thinking clearly for quite a while by then :D
@Whirler Thanks!!! :D I tried a bit of a picturesque approach here, thanks for noticing :)
@glamage I`m glad you like it, thank you! ^_^ I doubt it would ever beat the popularity of TEDDY (but maybe it would`ve been good then, I wouldn`t be against detail expert neveroddoreven) :P  I had  intended before to snowball themes as I go along, but now I think it might make no sence to do so (as it will turn into chaos), or I`ll just lack the skill to do it.. we`ll see!:)

I love the amount of movement in the water, you've really done that very well. I wasn't aware of the historical or art reference so I learned a thing today, thanks for that and great job 😀

I like how this piece dominates your attention from just one or two angles. It's just like a 3D painting.

There's a great quality to the lighting, especially the way it contrasts with the water. The light (as well as the shadows it produces) is warm and soft, serene and still, and the water is the opposite. It's a narrative contrast as well as a colour contrast. On the subject of colour, there's also the great usage of a limited gamut, with the hues brightest on the subject itself.

All in all it's a great diorama. I only wish I could see some more pics.
