Fettster
Any suggestions for sources of cogs and similar steam/machine accessories for bases and terrain making. Ideally UK based and not too expensive! Leigh
Swift
If you've got a secondhand or recycled objects store somewhere near you, look for dead watches. Their little gears and screws are far better off as base additions than as some steampunk hat accessory.
Fetid Strumpet
If you ever have Flea Markets near you, you could also go to them and see about any cheap old watches there. I know several people that buy old clockwork stuff from Flea Markets to canabilize for their miniatures.

Omenbringer
Those are really nice base inserts. I'm going to have to look into these.
El Indio
I use these bad boys from Iron Halo.net 4 bucks for 5 inserts Iron Halo is pretty good, but the extreme detail on the Deus Ex Machina bases can lead to some iffy castings; I picked up a pretty large lot (10 small, 3 med) for my Ramos force, and received seveal funky inserts. I've used Black Cat Bases' Cog Floor: Foundations of War makes some pretty badass ones, too ("Steam Punk Bases"), but only on their eBay store: If you're just looking for a few gears on a base and not a whole machine, Dragon Forge Bases also has a pretty good junkyard-ish design:
Vin
You also do not necessarily need to buy old watches. My friend just jumped on ebay and amazon and searched for loose watch bits. He found small pouches, plenty for bases or terrain, for pretty cheap. I'll see if he can get me a specific link for you.
Fettster
Thanks guys. I'm not sure what I am doing with bases yet so more scenery driven, so the hasselfree bags lok like the business. Leigh
