What is the purpose of Magic weapons?

I've seen several of them, but I've never seen a use, so it kinda makes me think it's just glitter on the weapon. I kinda hope it's something like "Allows you to hit incorporeal creatures and gives a +1 cb vs everyone else."

When you attack spirits you don't half the damage if it's from a magic weapon.

this may be a dumb question but I've been assuming spells count as magical (I mean they're spells)and hence don't do half damage to spirits, is that right?

The rules for them are in a section called magic. So yeah I think they are magical.

I've asked this question before, and yes, Spells that cause damage or wounds count as Magical for purposes of Spirit, but it's not stated outright in the RM.

The exact wording on spirits is, "Spirits are immune to Morale Duels and suffer half damage from non-magical sources." While I can't find an explicit statement in the RM, spells are listed under the magic section. Ergo I would say it is safe to assume that damage coming from a spell would be coming from a magical source.

So yes, spell damage on spirits is not halved.

Hmmm.... now that I look at it though, "damage" is not capitalized in that sentence. I've always played that Damage from non magical sources was halved, but that direct Wounds were full. Now I'm not sure though.

I'm pretty certain you were correct and that direct wounds that don't go through the dmg step are not halved.

Keep in mind some spells generate attacks with a model's weapon, like Ophelia's Dirty Shot, but since it is not direct damage from the spell and instead is generated from the attack of the normal weapon it does not count as magical.

Rare cases but read the spell before assuming.

Right, Perdita's Execute and the Judges Bullets and Blades are also examples of this.

Indeed. I recall that being a stipulation detailed by the Marshal. If a spell results in a Strike from a non-magical weapon, said damage is not considered to be magical (the weapon is the source of the damage, not the spell).

The first time I brought Kirai to the table, it was against my buddy's Ortegas. He wept sweet, bitter tears and ordered a Sonnia box the next day.

I tried for the longest time to beat this guy's Kirai with Lucius and LJ and always came close to winning at turn 6. I finally busted Sonnia and 3 witchlings out and it was over by turn 3. I shed a tear of happiness.

I started out with Seamus,and went to Sonnia when i tried out guild. And to be honest,I have never doubted the rightness of the choice.

Don't forget the dreamer and his daydreams who are also spirits. Granted they don;t have very many wounds but its still nice not to have to double it in terms of damage done.
