sakurazuka38
I have tried the game with my wife this afternoon (lady J against seamus). She almost enjoy it except the measure. It remind her people playing "petanque" and arguying for hours to know who is the nearest from the "cochonnet"! So is malifaux adaptable on a grid system (like 1"= 1 case)? I know it would be better to go to puppet wars but i prefer to give a chance to malifaux! Edited August 28, 2011 by sakurazuka38
Mach_5
I don't see why not. A hex grid would be best but squares could work too. Check out the puppet wars rules for some ideas.
sakurazuka38
How would you do for the 40 and 50 mm base minis?
Mach_5
I'd probably have them take up four squares or three hexes each.
Justin
Terraclips actually has a grid on it.
Math Mathonwy
You could also try to allow for pre-measuring. That tends to cut down on debate and such as you can simply move the model, measure and declare that it is 5" from that other model or whatever. It does make for a more tactical experience as you can do all sorts of exact shenanigans but it might still be easier for a new player to get to grips with. Or you could simply allow your wife to decide whether something is in range or not if the difference is half an inch or less (so if there is a possibility of debating, then allow the wife to decide - fine universal advice )

ispep
and if you let her think she has the upperhand in gaming, you might be able to sneak non-gaming things past her while she's distracted!
sakurazuka38
Thank you for the replies. We already allow pre-measure but she hate the fact that we have to use a rubber! I will check for terraclips but i would prefer a hex grid to fit with the 40mm and 50mm base mini (40mm =3 hex, 50mm= 4 hex like Mach 5 said).
