Evaine
I know I've said it before, but your painting is amazing! I think I have to stop looking at your thread until after GenCon though - kinda makes me feel like entering the painting contest with my own models is pointless. *sobs over paint tray*
Mako
Curses, I appear to have broken my thanks button. Sorry Evaine! *grin* Thanks for the comments folks, good to see people are liking my progress. Hopefully the end result won't disappoint! Evaine, no backing out now :-P. The biggest and hardest part of contests is entering in the first place, I want to see your stuff there!
Mako
If anyone's still watching this thread (I'm so slow with updates lately!), would they like a sneaky peeky of one or two bits that are done except the weathering later on? Mister Shine
Sure, but fair warning; they are probably rubbish
Mako
You don't need to warn me, I know they're rubbish already, I can see them! heh.
Mister Shine
Oh but I do! Its the whole point of the rubbishing after all.
Zac
Enough talk! Pictures already!
Lussuria
Enough talk! Pictures already! Here here!!
Mako
Well, I wasn't kidding when I said later. It's been a long day, and I've had more than one mistake to correct... Still, here's Lady J standing in the rubble, and the fence. There's still weathering and final touches like that to tie it all together and make it look right, but the basic bits are done. The marshals, for the most part, just need their metalwork doing, so that's tomorrow's task. Hopefully I can get everything done by saturday night in terms of painting the models, then I can focus on tweaking and refining (the OSL alone could take most of sunday...) Lussuria
That looks soooo boss. What have you made the rubble (rocks) out of??
Zac
I know that artists are meant to be self deprecating, but seriously, you have no right to be. These models are awesome, and I can't wait to see the finished product.
Wings
That looks amazing so far. I like the ivy around the railing. Good luck with getting it finished!
Mako
Thanks all! The bricks are plaster cast from some I sculpted originally, not being too accurate about filling the moulds gave me the variation in them. Then I hit them with a variety of heavy things to give me rubble *grin* Last few days and the big push to finish, it's always down to the wire. I should know better, but it gets me every time... Viruk
It looks very good, the varied shades you used on rocks and cobblestones add a lot of depth.
Linus Mcmold
Hey, congrats on the 100th page. I love your Lady J who lost her head. Yellowish skin is something very new (and hip) to see on the undead, but IMO very logical. I'm anxious to see your shuffling Miss Terious, since I like the conversion. I must admit that besides Lady J from the Dead Justice crew I like the dead Judge over the living Judge. Except that the new plastic one is probably my favorite, but I'm probably speaking from my imagination since I haven't seen the miniature yet. ---------- Post added at 11:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:39 AM ---------- Lots of potential in the new plastic models. Dead Justice crew Death Marshals will be perfect for Taras upcoming crew. I'd love to see how those models look beside the plastic Tara ones. Mako
Well, I've only got the effects to do now, so here's a blurry UFO evidence photograph very quick and lousy quality shot of the whole thing. I'll do good photos after, I swear. But this at least proves they're on there!
Mister Monkey
That is one terrible photo.... *grin*
edonil
Rubbish! :-P
Mako
I think I've beaten my previous best for terrible photos that you can't see anything in, lol
Lussuria
Awful snap shot, but I feel it's kind of like a teaser shot. Just enough that I'm excited to see the good quality pic! Ooooh, I wish I could make theeeese.
Mako
Yeah, 2am and using the iPad is not good for photos. But I wasn't inclined to get the camera out and set it all up! It is a bit of a tease, isn't it...
Mako
No photo today, I'm saving them for after the contest (partly because I left my laptop at work so wold have to prep them on the pad and that's annoying to do...). Hopefully I'll have interwebs and can say something about the other wyrd entries, and the non wyrd stuff too of course, until judging ends on Saturday and we find out who kicked my ass! Anyone wanting to talk paint with me (or talk nonsense with me, I can do that too), feel free to grab me if you see me, I'll have a badge of my avatar to make it easy. edonil
So, I won't be getting one of those buttons to keep it less confusing?
Mako
Oh, that's a point. There might be a few of those badges wandering about. Grab them anyway, if they're not me then they'll probably know where I'm lurking! They might even make more sense than I do, if you're really really lucky *wink*
edonil
Ah, so I'll be getting one to make it more confusing, right!
