Leni_ed
Hi guys, I was wondering if I heard right that Malifaux took some of its insperation from a book called "Perdido Street Station" by China Mieville? :masks:masks

Mike3838
I've been meaning to check out this, as well as his other books eg "King Rat" and "The City and the City". Most of his work seems very steampunk and malifaux-esque, and he's won a lot of awards. Once I get the Wheel of Time finished off he's next in my reading list! Bellygrub
Even if it wasn't, thanks for brining the book to my attention. I'm always looking for Steampunky things to read.
Nathan Caroland
Have to say I've never heard, nor read it, so can't say it was inspiration to be honest. That said, you've got me googleing it and I think I'll take a stop over to Amazon after reading some of the reviews.
Rotokultaxe
I don't know if it was a source of inspiration for Malifaux, but steampunk short story " Mozart in mirrorshades " by Bruce Sterling and Lewis Shiner is a great piece of literature and it has may interesting similarities with the Malifaux setting. I strongly recommend !
Leni_ed
I think its weird that in the book there is a "Jackdaw" like there is a "Jack Daw" in Malifaux.:masks:masks

Boom
The Aethervox mentioned China Mieville in one episode and thanks to them I've read 4 of his books since, with another 2 on the pile ready to go! Perdido Street Station, The Scar and Iron Council are set in the same world, and have some Malifaux-esque aspects such as magic, steampunk tech and an struggle between the underclass and the city's rulers. They're very good, and very imaginative. I'd certainly recommend them if you like the aesthetic of Malifaux.
