  1. Many thanks to you and the guys on the demo tables, was another great Salute. Two of my friends picked up Malifaux for the first time after a demo. (They obviously don't trust me, I've been banging on about it for ages!) Plus my annual Salute wallet-draining continued as I grabbed Unstitched. Just need to glue the (not-so) little buggers together now! Looking at the new set next to the old set there's such an improvement in the box, board, terrain tokens, etc. The models are so detailed! Glad there's a big instruction sheet on which bits go where.
  2. Nice to see you guys there, and thanks esp. to Spiku for putting up with my rambling. No thanks at all to Simple Miniatures for their far-too-good-to-pass-up Puppet Wars deal - another Salute where my credit card went a bit melty round the edges through over-use! Damn them and their special offers
  3. I'm another of Ratty's Salute 2011 demo 'victims' - my wallet curses you I'm heading over there tomorrow so I'll come and say hi.
  4. +1 for Dettol - the standard brown liquid antiseptic from any (UK) supermarket. I've used it on anything from plastic RTB01 marines to Ral Partha pewter Battletech minis. It has the added bonus of giving your models a pine-fresh scent
  5. Just wanted to second (third, fourth?) the endorsements of Dark Sphere. I always pop in if I'm heading into London. Very nice people there, and lots of Malifaux but as others have said I would always give them a ring to check if you're after something specific. They've been quite happy to reserve stuf for me in the past. They used to do skirmish game nights which included Malifaux, think it was Tuesday but I can't get their website to work at the mo. to check. They stock Puppet Wars and Terraclips as well.
  6. I shop at Dark Sphere and they're usually pretty good, but I wouldn't put up with that. Funnily enough I believe you could have legally kept the duplicates under the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act 1971, so you've been punished for being one of the good guys Citizens Advice Bureau link - http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/consumer_affairs/buying_goods_your_rights.htm#charging_for_goods_you_didn%27t_order
  7. Mike, Mine was #8695, got the order completed email on the 18th and received the parcel today (hurrah!). Saw someone else a few pages back had the same delivery time - had his email on 17th and got the parcel yesterday, so looking at around 8 days. As for the tracking info, USPS website said my parcel was at Woodstock GA (Wyrd) on the 18th and hasn't changed since (not even now I have the goodies in my possession) so can't help you there Cheers to Wyrd, everything was present and correct and Nightmarish, and no nasty customs charges either (didn't realise I'd ordered such an inexpensive 'gift' ).
  8. For the Stitched Togethers my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.
  9. Wow, didn't realise there were so many local players! Unforgiven - yes, heard of Heroes and Legends but not managed to get out there myself yet, mainly as the days clash. One of the owners used to manage the local GW, really nice guy. I must make the effort one day, although worried that I'll leave the shop having spent a fortune Got your PM, I'll reply separately. TheBlackPrince - age range is from 16 to 40+, with the majority in the 20s I'd say (I'm late 30s if anyone's interested ). Turn out is around 20 - 30 people on a good day, but that's split between the wargames room (40k, Infinity, Malifaux, etc) and the card games/RP room. There's only 2 Malifaux players at the moment (until I can pry people away from Infinity) but it sounds like there's a few other Malifaux minded people who may be turning up going forward! There's plenty of tables and lots of scenery. I'll be there tonight from 6 so hope to see people there. PM me if you want my mobile no to meet up. Cheers, Boom
  10. Hi Fluffy Robot, I'll PM you, but for the benefit of anyone else in the area as well: It's at the Thomas Wall Centre on Benhill Avenue (postcode SM1 4DP). It's quite central, only a couple of streets back from the High Street, behind the St Nicholas Centre. Starts at 6, goes on 'til 10, usually £2.50 to attend but first time's free, so nothing to lose People play pretty much anything, including Magic, 40k, Infinity, various roleplay games, and of course Malifaux. Everyone's welcome, it's pretty informal, just turn up and play.
  11. Don't let the Daily Express hear you say that! Boom
  12. Hi, welcome aboard. Which bit of London are you in? If you fancy some games there are quite a few London groups - clubs near Clapham and London Bridge and the Dark Sphere store near Waterloo for starters. Or if you're in the suburbs like me there's a club in Sutton that meets on Monday nights. It's a great game. I've only been playing a few months and my GW stuff has been gathering dust ever since!
  13. Excellent, downloading now. Always look forward to these, although I usually end up going out and getting a bunch of books 'cause of the MMMMOM segment
  14. I'm relatively new to the game and I also started with Pandora (the Baby Kade miniature persuaded me ). I haven't found her to be too complicated, but I can't recommend Karn's Tactica and the wiki pages highly enough - I read through these a few times before I even had a game. For me it seems to boil down to ensuring her 12" 'bubble' covers the right areas, so if that means taking a turn of just walking twice early on then so be it. Usually after that there's something to try and incite/pacify to get her moving faster. If anything, it's the rest of her crew I'm still getting to grips with - haven't really got the Sorrows working properly for me until this week where I managed to get two very close to an opponent's crew and watched the wounds stack up off failed Wp tests Candy is another model that's only really been effective for me in the past few games (love 'Sours'!). I think it's just a matter of jumping in and playing as many games with them all as you can to get a handle on how they play. Of course, if you're anything like me then just as you start getting a handle on a crew another one will catch your eye and it's time to start the learning process all over again. Damn you Dreamer/LCB
  15. Hi Bunny, and welcome. Have you been to a FLGS called Dark Sphere, near Waterloo - they have a Malifaux night on Tuesdays? (Although one of the guys there last night was based in Stratford, so I might be preaching to the converted here if that's you ) Boom
  16. Ooh, so death threats work then? Good to know. If you'll excuse me, I'm just off to cut some letters out of newspapers to glue together into something scary (old-school I know, but some things are worth putting the effort in for ).
  17. Now I've got that South Park episode with Cartman and Artemis Clyde Frog going round my mind As for the film, wasn't "La Cité des enfants perdus" (The City of Lost Children) you were thinking about was it? The Aethervox mentioned a film called "Alice" a few episodes back as well.
  18. Nightmare Kade - yes please! Pandora's crew was my first Malifaux purchase 'cause of him. Scale him up so that he can hold Teddy under his arm
  19. The Aethervox mentioned China Mieville in one episode and thanks to them I've read 4 of his books since, with another 2 on the pile ready to go! Perdido Street Station, The Scar and Iron Council are set in the same world, and have some Malifaux-esque aspects such as magic, steampunk tech and an struggle between the underclass and the city's rulers. They're very good, and very imaginative. I'd certainly recommend them if you like the aesthetic of Malifaux.
  20. Welcome aboard. Neverborne - good choice
  21. I've just bought The Dreamer box today; Tactica's open in the background as I type Is there still a compulsory community-administered punishment beating for buying more than 2 or 3 Alps as a follow-up purchase?
  22. I'd agree with this. Last time I wandered into my FLGS was just after the price hike and after seeing the prices I bought 1 GW model rather than the 3 I had planned on getting, and that's probably all the GW I'll be getting for a while. My next purchases will all be Malifaux instead
  23. Aargh, up 'til last year I used to work literally 5 minutes from there! Cheers for the info, another place I'll have to try and get up to at some point. What would be the best session to aim for Malifaux-wise?
