  1. Annual Event held in Traverse City Mi in memory of fellow gamer Wesley Alan Geer. All Monies collected go to the American Cancer Society in Wes' name. Held at TC Paintball and Gaming Center 849 US 31 S Traverse City Mi Saturday the 4th of February from 10Am until 10PM. Malifaux Demo's, League play, Pick up games, as well as 40K, Hordes, Dust, Magic, Warhammer FB, Wings of Glory, Flames of War, Hail Caeser, Black Powder, Munchkin, or just goofing around talking games and eating pizza. $5 donation for 12 hours of gaming.
  2. You are forgetting Warhammer Fantasy and the far superior (IMHO) Warhammer Historical rule sets. I would venture a guess most here are Gamers first and foremost, so while Malifaux is the best, we do participate in many other games as well.
  3. Yes. Or how many cookies you send in to Wyrd.
  4. ? Give me some good old fashioned Pink Floyd, any day.
  5. IT doesn't surprise me what people attempt to sell, it astounds me what people BUY!
  6. Play a different faction. What is it about the figure that is so horrid?
  7. If it gets to the point where it is bogging down the game, have a flip off and go on. This is supposed to be fun, not a bunch of rules lawyers making it a litigation process. If a Henchman is close by get their take and move on.
  8. The entire line of course. But if I must specific, Raputina, she just melts my heart. . . .
  9. I too love this discussion and my counter points/disagreements are not intended to anger, only to continue the conversation and give something i have a lot of. . . opinion.
  10. Another "problem" with Miniature gamers is the "class warfare" engaged in at game stores. Warhammer versus Warhammer 40K versus Hordes versus Malifaux versus Flames of War versus Wings of Glory etc. There is not one tidy neat all encompassing happy group that just plays and tolerates everything.
  11. Wow. I think I'll kick in here with some observations. I also note I owned a game store for some time, am an older, retired, military veteran and have three sons, all of whom play some or several miniature games. I, as a Game Store owner, sold a hobby, not a game. That is very important to emphasize and make sure it is understood. Miniature or table top gaming not a game like Monopoly, Risk or Cataan. It is an entire hobby, in which you decide how much of your time and money you will invest in it. It is not for everybody, thus it may not be viewed as "mainstream" like knitting or sports card collecting. When people came in my store I always talked to them and asked lot's of questions. I always had at least ONE game out and set up for a quick demo. Most of the new people wanted to know what it (Miniature table top gaming) was. Simple answer, it is like Chess but different. Of course I would explain then it was a hobby. I would invite them to try a demo right then with me, or ask them back as a guest on game night. I was also blessed with gamers that loved to help and allowed any newb to play a game with them to learn the ropes. Or even assist in painting assembling, which of course, usually went on all the time. I no longer own my own store so now I have more time to participate in the hobby, (there is that word again), I am a Henchman, run classes on painting and terrain building, though I am by no means an artist as some here are, but I get the basics of have fun across. So there you have it, TTG/miniatures are not for everyone, and I like the fact it is not.
  12. A river boat. Docks and a river boat. . .the possibilities. . .
  13. Detroit Hat Trick!!! Lions 34 Dallas 30 Tigers 5 NYY 3 Red Wings 3 Penguins 2
  14. Yes, well the word is being spread as I am the only Henchman in the North it appears. So all those interested must come down to Traverse! Not much in the way of gaming shops Up in the frozen North anyway, just gamers.
  15. If you are lucky enough to get Versus in the Detroit area of course. Happily, I live well north of such nonsense, and get the NHL network as well as FOX Sports Detroit and FOX Sports Detroit+ (When the darn Tigers or Pistons are not taking up the airwaves. No basketball this year though YES!)
  16. If your serving I am drinking. . . .
  17. Went into the store today, (TC Paintball and Games Traverse City Mi, stop in soon!), to pick up my order and see what was up. Many games of 40K were rocking on all five tables. So I had to let it be known that I was getting Malifaux stuff. Pin drop/crickets/dead silence. Then, one lone voice in the wilderness said: "I'd like to play Malifaux. . ." Quickly Followed by "What is Malifaux?" Luckily (divine providence) I had my Henchman shirt on and the Malifaux bag in the truck. Took me almost an hour to collect my books as many were really into the fluff and the mini's had more than one ohhhing and ahhhing. . . .I think Wayne sold about $200 bucks in Malifaux stuff in about 15 minutes! Last week at the Demo, while pretty good in attendance and interest, I got Wayne to sell maybe $200 in the four hours I was there. So, we decided that Monday is Malifaux night again. . . and you can be sure I will looking to another tournament and campaign.
  18. 8 days until the season opens. Traverse City North Stars open their season Today, so I am off to the rink.
