I've always linked burn out with mental. Physical is exhaustion to me. But that's probably because I've experienced more of the former than the latter over the course of my life.

Interesting...it must just be a difference in 'translation'...I have always seen burnout referred to physical exhaustion, for example when a sportsperson has just simply pushed too far.  We always seem to use something like 'drained' or 'shattered' for mental exhaustion.  Its weird how interpretations can be so varied.

Oh, and speaking Nicodem, I played him last night for the 3rd time (total) against a traditional slingshot Vik list.  Totally didn't think I was going to win, let alone do as well as I did, but he stood up proud and tall.  My MVP for that game was Sloth, actually.  Managed to tie up Vik of Ash, Student of Conflict, Killjoy and Bishop in his 3" aura, despite eating a 6 Wd whirlwind trigger from Vik a turn earlier.  His mistake was launching his slingshot turn 1 when he didn't have enough decent cards to cheat with on Turn 1.  Admittedly, I tried to bait him into a tarpit by moving Sloth up first, and then Mortimer a few inches away from him.  Managed to drop 2 Corpse Markers on turn 1 with him, and then summon a Student of Viscera and Drowned with Nico.  He led off his attack with Bishop first on the Student, but only managed 1 hit, and then my Student "Slithered" past him to engage the Viks and Student.

He did manage to get the Viks past the Student, but by that time, he had entered my little tarpit, and into charge range of 2 of my Punk Zombies.  I win initiative Turn 2 and Assassinated Vik of Ash with Punk Zombie and Mortimer in the opening activation of the turn.  After some more back and forth, Nico summons a Rogue Necromancy on Turn 3, who eats up Killjoy.

So yeah... pleasantly surprised with Nicodem, now that I've gotten the hang of playing him. ;)

I do have still my metal Dead Rider for those who are interested :)

I'd be interested if I could make up my mind between the plastic and metal riders. I own the Mech I got for a bargain but I'm tempted by the plastics.

Not fond of metal models, so I am just replacing mine with the Plastic one.

Ah, Dead Rider. So criminally underused and anti-bodyguard :D

Nothing denies VP as well as dragging a model back to it's deployment zone.

That just sounds hilarious.

I decided I couldn't kill it, so I just dragged it 12" back to it's deployment zone, and then paralyzed it with the insane horror duel. Won that match due to that play too.

I'm not glorifying it at all, but my understanding of burnout is physical exhaustion when your body just simply says...stop. Rest.  I will admit I have never heard it linked to depression before.  My understanding it was a physical thing not mental..

Drained only ever applies to sex. Burnout is pretty much "your mind and soul have taken all they are going to"

The technical definition of Burnout is something like "All the symptoms of a Major Depression, with added cynical outlook towards the workplace". And I have to repeat that mental and physical is really hard to separate in the case of depression. It really pisses me off that Depression is seen as "Go deal with your shit!" and Burnout is all "Oh, he just worked too much, he's so dedicated!"

Isn't that a more general issue with mental problems?

Because you are supposed to get it from working too much, and working is the only thing that counts in this society. Unless you're a woman, then you can forgo work and just spawn four kids.

As you can probably tell, I'm having a shit day and feel a little fed up with people.

I'm being assailed by social media telling me to let immigrants into the UK.

I love how the minute I disagree with conservatives I'm a socialists liberal hippy and when I disagree with liberals I'm some sort of nazi. Why can't people realise that stuff is more complex than US vs THEM ?!! ARGH.

And yes, life is hard.

We've all had those days.  Thankfully at the moment I am having them less.

Its a tough situation.  I honestly cannot see a solution to the ongoing build up of refugees. Its bad but I hardly watch the news now because of these stories.  The picture of the three year old washed ashore almost killed me( because I have a four year old daughter).  Yet, I feel helpless and see no way out for them.  I agree every country (including the neighbouring  Arab states who refuse to take any refugees ) needs to work together to try and solve the crisis somehow, but with several countries (including the UK) refusing to budge on their stances it is difficult.
