Stasia
I'm working on my first mini and if you all have any advice then please say it and don't be shy. This is the officer from the "Things That Go Bump In The Night" boxed set. Thank you.
Nathan Caroland
Looks like a fun looking mini that should give you a good go Stasia. Have your dad keep up on the pictures for us. Luck!
demonherald
certainly looks like it could be a fun model.. ready and willing to offer any help and welcome to the hobby...At this stage the most important thing is to make sure you have all mouldlines and imperfections removed ready for a nice smooth piece to paint on..good luck. Duende
And don't listen to anything your father tells you! He has no clue what he's doing... a roller is NOT an effective way of applying a basecoat! :aetsch: (Just kidding! Make sure to pay attention to daddy!) Uberdark
a roller? you mean he's using rollers now....heck last i knew he was using a shotgun filled with paint. hehehe.,
Ritual
No, the roller is definitely for finer detail! It would take way too long to use it for base coating. I promise, we will give you SERIOUS advice once you get started, Stasia!
gi6ers
Yuo, nothing to add, get the moldlines removed and go from there. Most important to get the basecoats on smoothly then show us another pic.
Duende
I don't know about you either, Anders. I hear you merely coat your tongue with paint then lick it onto your minis. I heard it even affected your taste buds so that you only identify foods by color. Your SO: "So how was dinner?" Anders: "To much Vomit Green, needs more Putrid Flesh." Your SO: *slap!*

Hinton
Well, she's put on the basecoat so far, but that's about it. She's with her mom on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but she should have some pictures up Friday night sometime.

Sculpta the squig
Hi stasia, it looks as if the basecoat could do with a few more layers to make the colour more solid, but other then that is looks nice and neat;) Squig
Nathan Caroland
Looking like you're off to a good start and keeping everything in the 'lines'. Looks like the paint might be a bit watered down though?
Jabberwocky
As the others have mentioned, you are off to a nice start! There does look like there are a few areas where the primer is peeking through the basecoat, but it (in general) is better to have your paint too thin then too thick. Just keep going over the area and you'll get the coverage you need.
ThunderhawkerMinis
That looks like a good mini to start with. As the others have said the base coat needs a few more layers, but its a good start.
demonherald
A Sculpta says another layer or two will strengthen the colour.. You have the main thing just right it is nice and neat..the thickness of paint is one of the trickiest things to get used to..too thin is better than too thick..at least this way you can add a layer or two without losing the models details.. R kid
try to get your paint into the folds because these areas are going to be darker due to shade ....i think to be honest i would have set you off with a black primer because it gives that natural shade in areas missed ...... other than that its fine just remember thin paint lots of layer's .
