Patrick
These guys look a little werewolfy but still pretty fun.
green stuff
Is it just me or does the guy on the right look a lot like this mini? And those multiple hands on the second from the left guy seems very "drunesque" to me ... I'll pass the other Rackham look-a-like traits, but these really lack originality this time. Ritual
The lack of originality is rather blatant, I'd say! :twitch: Too bad, since they are technically very well done.
james sequeira
hmmm they look ok but dont really do much for me
cdukino
To bad the one I like the most (second on the left) has those cut off arm assesory belt... which puts it in my never gonna buy and paint list. Don't like this kind of needless gory stuff. What is that anyway... gonna dress myself up with random pieces of corpse and scare off my enemies with the smell of decay? But overall save from this personal drawback I think they look oke. The kind of stuff I'd probably buy if I saw it for a nice price and the buying mood caught me. green stuff
What is that anyway... gonna dress myself up with random pieces of corpse and scare off my enemies with the smell of decay? Maybe a fantasy-cannibal Kentucky Fried Chicken snack thing .
Ritual
What is that anyway... gonna dress myself up with random pieces of corpse and scare off my enemies with the smell of decay? It seems to be very popular among Rackham's Drunes anyway, since it's basically their trademark. Frankly, this sort of rip-off is something I'd be quite embarassed about if I was a miniature manufacturer. It is so bloody obvious, especially since the concept is so similar to the Drunes (and also to some Sessair minis) anyway. :lame:
Malebolgia
Well, here in Holland we have a saying: "Better well stolen than a bad executed idea" (something like that...translating sayings and stuff in other languages is a b*tch ). I quite like them. They are fierce and chaotic and I like that. But it is a bit hard to see because of the less than well photos. And is every faction in HORDES getting a 'regular unit' and also a 'big bad mojo unit'? That is a bit lame.
witchfire
they're true to the monsternomicon pics & that's what counts when making a minis based on a monster book i guess

You wouldn't be thinking of something like the guy on the right by the slightest off chance now would you Anders ? [edit] @witchfire : they need to get that book fixed . It's a shame because PP seemed to have a univers of there own. [/edit]

witchfire
A rip-off is a rip-off, no matter how you put it. only if we can prove that the monsternomicon pics pre-date the release of the rackham mini any way it's a moot point since i dont play conf. & my hordes army wont be the circle
Spacemunkie
Big, muscley guys with axes - Rackham don't have a monopoly on them. I think that guy on the right is better than pretty much any of the Drune stuff anyway. He's nice. And he doesn't have any filligree:D
witchfire
the tharns were in the monsternomicon in 2002 but then werewolf barbarian were seen way before that in Werewolf: the apocalypse
Ritual
Big, muscley guys with axes - Rackham don't have a monopoly on them. Of course not, but the severed arms around the waist is a complete rip-off. Can't see them in the monsternomicon picture either...
vincegamer
The "monsternomicon" is a rip-off of the necronomicon, the book of the Mad Arab Abdul al Hazred. And not nearly as clever as Terry Pratchet's rip-off/parody: the Telecomicon
Spacemunkie
Who cares! One of those minis is nice. Unfortunately, you'll have to buy a whole box to get him probably....

Patrick
That irks me a little insisting that PP rips off those designs when anyone can plainly see that Rackham, and now Ilyad, has ripped just about every design style, let alone most of it's fluff for the Celtic stuff, directly from Simon Bisley's interpretation of the Slaine: The Horned God trilogy of graphic novels. http://www.simonbisleyonline.com/galleryslaine.htm It's like saying that no one can do orcs or elves because Tolkein already did them. Granted, I'm tired of orcs and elves and if companies move on to stealing each other's designs for spasm warriors, good deal. At least they aren't as overdone as orcs and elves.......yet......... [edit] This also isn't directed at anyone in particular but just a general observation[/edit]
Ritual
I never claimed the overall concept was stolen from Rackham or that Rackham's concept was completely original either. It's the severed arms I'm talking about. Something that becomes even more obvious since the overall concept is similar.
