I got them halfway through Monday and had to get them completed by end of business yesterday in order to be ready for the sale. So not bad for only getting 3 1/2 days for the whole kit! Yeah, the fur was a bit rough. There are several midtone layers but the photos kept coming out really white and desaturated. I think maybe a different backdrop would show him off better. I would love a little insight into how you did Luther's eyes. Seriously, they are quite a sight. I'm keep getting punny about the bunny until I see how to do it! Curtis
I did the fur sections first. Then the eyes were done by base coating them with Murderous Magenta. That was applied in a large area covering the eyelids as well. Next I did a coat of Skorne Red. I then mixed pure white into the red to lighten it and make it pink. I repeated this step, adding more and more white several times to give it the pinkish bloodshot tone. Then I took Skorne red and thinned it down, drawing small squiggly lines for the veins. The iris was done by painting a large black circle. This was then filled in with Bloodtracker Brown and highlighted with Cygnus Yellow. Then a smaller black dot was placed in the middle for the pupil. Finally I added 2 very small white dots for the light reflections. For the other eye, I repeated these steps, but made sure to keep it slightly off center to help accentuate the crazed look I wanted him to have. The eyelid was highlighted by mixing Idrian Flesh and white into the Magenta to highlight the ridges. Hope that helps!

Stark
Luther is amazing) He's so mad and so Mc'Gee ))) Curtis, I hope you're not take offense but why the black background? I know that some painters use it to accentuate their works, but you don't need that cheap trick! Your works are great! Why not use some real background? I printed my own on A3 at the local print shop and I'm going to do a couple more with an airbrush. It looks much better and you no need to сut off the model from the photo and insert to the black background. It's much faster for preparing images)
Curtis
Hey Stark. No offense taken! I use black because it's just what I have available currently. I don't insert onto a black background, that is actually a piece of black dress velvet that I just edit out of photos by playing with light/contrast levels. I'm interested in having some different backdrops made though. I just haven't had time yet to look into it properly. Thank you for the input though!
Stark
Oh, so deep black, I was sure that it's the photoshop backround)) Anyway, I will look forward for new works and new backgrounds

(Also, the gators look awesome!)
Popular Post Curtis
Bonus model this week! Another denizen of the bayou we have the impressive and slightly disgusting Sow! Tremble before the mighty cer-boarus!
Viruk
Minis like that (with a lot of flat surface) are great opportunities to show off skills of a painter and you've done really amazing work here. I love the realistic paintjob on Gators and fur texture on the Sow looks just amazing.
Guslado
The fur work you did on the sow... ...damn!
Popular Post Curtis
Happy Friday! Back from Adepticon and first up is my Crystal Brush submission. I didn't place this year unfortunately, but hey, making it past the judge cut with a model that only took me 2 days is still something right? And then this week we also have the new night terrors kit which contains 4 amazingly fun models to work on. That's all for now. Check back next week when I should have some rooster riders ready for you
Nymie_the_Pooh
Beautiful job on both. Two days is insane. I am not sure how to even assemble that in two days.
lusciousmccabe
Are those night terrors wearing waistcoats? Also, living the patterns on kirai's clothes. Shame you didn't have more luck in the event.
Viruk
Great job on the Terrors, I like the colors you've used. Their poses are really dynamic. Your Crystal Brush entry is also very impressive, it's amazing how many details you've managed to put in there.
Popular Post Curtis
Update time! This week I've been working on something pretty fowl... The new rooster riders kit is amazingly fun to work on. Who knew painting giant chickens would be so enjoyable? I think this is possibly one of my favorite kits I've gotten my hands on so far. (My being a Gremlin player having absolutely nothing to do with it! :P)
Zvejkus
Great painting and iPhone photo style, as always.
Brewie
I would love to see what your photo looks like. And do you find a black background works nice than a pale colour?
Curtis
It depends on the model. I'll admit that for some of my pieces the black background actually detracts from the overall image. But it's also all I have for now.
Popular Post Curtis
Hey guys! Posting a bit early as I've been busy with Iron Painter this week and only have a couple things to show for now. This week I completed the Guild Exorcists. These guys are are really cool and very imposing with their flowing jackets, wide brimmed hats, and fancy crossbows. I'm also working on the fermented river monks right now. If I finish them today I'll make sure they get added here. If not, look for them next week!
Viruk
As usual, the paintjob is fantastic and your highlights on black cloaks are absolutely stunning. Still, I'm not impressed with new design for these models. I have the old metal version and it seems the details are much better there... Maybe that's just my impression after seeing the picture and I will change my ming once I have a chance to see these minis up close

Popular Post Curtis
Happy Friday! This week I managed to finish up the Fermented River Monks. Great fun working on these and I loved the colors I chose. I was trying to incorporate ale colors so I went with a lot of golden yellows and browns. Please note that any resemblance to sand village ninjas either fictional or otherwise is purely coincidental I also managed to paint up the new Jaakuna Ubume. This is a very interesting kit as it has so many components and is basically its own little diorama That's all for this week. Next week I should have the Insidious Madness models complete and possibly a couple other things as well.
Rotokultaxe
Amazing work! But I would definitely like to see more angles of the miniatures, particularly the roosters and the fermented river monks
tinfoil
Outstanding. The atmospheric effect is very powerful, particularly on Jaakuna Ubume.
