  1. Neat! I've been wondering about the Reva vs. Kaeris matchup! Assassinate may be doable, but that armor+1 on Kaeris hurts. Take Prisoner should be quite doable if you want to snag Yin or similar. Breakthrough should be doable, Kaeris isn't that great at defending a standard deployment zone I think - she'd rather be aggressive than defending. Hidden martyrs - takes some mind games, but if you think you can set it up go for it! Keen to hear how it went. Leave your mark seems compatible with Reva, especially if you take grave golem to really dominate the centre. So perhaps any two schemes other than assassinate (and avoid take prisoner if you haven't got good models for it). Just my two cents, haven't played the matchup but we had a Kaeris player for a while. EDIT: Worth mentioning that Archie and Bone Piles are good in this matchup for burning immunity!
  2. I must admit the falling damage ruling has thrown me. I'll have a think!
  3. That seems pretty compelling! Although from the FAQ, I get the impression that 'effect' refers to smaller chunks (for example, ignoring a bury doesn't ignore everything else). So it may make sense to view the pulse as creating a few effects. Also doesn't quite cover the "resolve in the order on the card". Still, it is my preferred method. Just to check, would people say this works then: Molly pulses Night Terror discards next to Philip and the Nanny. Generates fading for both Philip and the Nanny and the Night Terror (but still resolving pulse) Night terror moves and focuses. Philip and the Nanny discards and pushes 2" to be next to a crooligan Crooligan discards Generates a fading for both crooligan and Philip. Molly pulse finished. Resolve fading for night terror (move) Resolve fading for Philip (move) Resolve fading for crooligan (eat a scheme marker) Resolve fading for Philip and the Nanny (eat a scheme marker). So from Molly pulse, the crooligan eats a scheme marker up to 4" away from its original position (2+2) and Philip eats one up to 9" away from original position (2+5+2)?
  4. For the carrion emissary example, the Midnight Stalker dies in step 6 of Montresor's damage. A more fitting example might be if someone has an aura that says "after a model takes damage from a melee attack, deal one damage to it." If a model died from that, it'd die from the aura (not the attack). I must confess I'm not familiar with the falling damage ruling. I would have assumed it counted as neutral death (same as if hazardous terrain kills you when you're pushed into it). Do you have a source for that? Feels like an M2E thing?
  5. Good luck! Crews that you like are pretty important. Unless you're playing super cutthroat competitive games, you can make pretty much any crew work if you play enough I also suggest hopping in the Outcast forums, they'll have some good recommendations on what to buy next! The Midnight Stalker for example is commonly cited as a good versatile Outcast model.
  6. As an additional consideration, see this from the FAQ: It seems pretty clear that the source of something doesn't 'chain.' So even if the shieldbearer was the ultimate origin of what is happening, it is the Walking Dead ability that is removing it.
  7. One thing that seems to clear it up quite a bit is that the pulsewave doesn't happen if you use the 'Not a Bomb' trigger as Adran says above (and also kind of given by the name of the trigger...) The only reason to centre it on a dove is to buff the shockwave. So mechanically there's no real payoff for centring the shockwave on the dove and then not having it explode. So I'd lean towards no, you can't have it on the dove and drop a scheme marker.
  8. Just had a look through the FAQ and couldn't find anything definitive about Premonition (although I may have missed a similar ruling). The ability reads: So this leaves the question: do all the models discard at the same time, or do they do it one by one? Do you... Measure the pulse and determine which models are eligible. Discard a card for all models that are eligible. Then one by one, give each model that discarded focus + a 2" push. Or do you... Measure the pulse and determine which models are eligible. One by one, discard a card for a model and give it focus + 2" push. If it is the second one, you could do something like have Philip and the Nanny near a rabble riser discarding which gives them both focus, then Philip and the Nanny discards to move next to a night terror, then night terror discards to give P&N a 5" push. As far as I can tell, it is still ambiguous. Is that correct?
  9. Not even sure which player I'll be facing! Likely Outcast/Ressers/Neverborn. Will base my list partially on opponent, but also don't own *that* many models. Will post an update with the actual game if it happens!
  10. That's one of the reasons I'm hoping we can all play the same scheme pool. It'll introduce a whole lot of specific considerations. I don't know too much about guild, but I'd expect a fair bit of shooting or funky manipulation (like Lucius obeys or Nellie shenanigans). High willpower seems like a good route? Please report back if you do play, would love to hear what you end up deciding! Or if you know what your opponent is declaring, we can read up on that crew (we usually declare masters in advance of playing at my club). If worried about obeys, consider a Night Terror OOK if you own them. It will give concealment to your lodestone carrier, and can act as a good protector. I'd either go for activation control + snagging leylines, or go hard on turtling. Activation control + snagging leylines: Molly + machine Dead Rider Philip and the nanny (possibly with GST). Archie or Manos Crooligan Rabble Riser 5+ stones. That'd be my core, I think. Rabble riser supercharges Philip and the Nanny with plenty of focus (should be easy to stack 4 focus on P&N turn one), which is very strong defensive tech. P&N carries the lodestone (with one trigger can move 19" in a turn, and deadly pursuit helps reset any pushes off the lodestone). I usually take three or less stones, but would need a few more for P&N's triggers. Dead Rider is a solid backup lodestone carrier. Turtling: Molly + machine Toshiro Grave golem Gravedigger Philip and the Nanny Yin Crooligan Maybe? I've never played a Molly game without Archie, but this would have all the strongest elements of turtling (grave golem + toshiro), and the grave digger simultaneously enables them both (not that you really need a grave digger for grave golem). P&N gives a solid option for lodestone carrying, and the crooligan gives some good scheming and activation control and extra reach if P&N can't quite get in position. Yin gives you take prisoner (bonus points if it is on a lodestone carrier). Assassinate is basically impossible against Molly with Toshiro, so no worries about the opponent scoring that.
  11. Thanks for getting the ball rolling with the initial post!
  12. @Trample great insights into a crew I really want to pickup when the Valedictorian is finally available! I hadn't quite clicked how many pushes the crew has, but you're right, it makes it super promising for Leylines! One worry I'd have is valedictorian will typically kill her target (freeing up the lodestone to move to another model). Would it be worth a second student of viscera to just shut down whoever is carrying the lodestone?
  13. Just my opinions. The crews I know best are Molly and Reva. Everyone: Pick up eternal servitude. Fantastic budget option with models you can use with lots of crews. Molly: Core box 'The Lost' Bonus purchases: Dead Rider, Eternal servitude, Call to Madness May struggle against shooty crews without night terrors. Reva: Core box Bonus purchases: Dead Rider, Carrion emissary, Anna Lovelace (with Von Schtook), Eternal servitude, Draugr Reva is super weird, in that you can play her lots of ways and really the only essential models are the ones in her core box. Von Schtook: Core box University of Transmortis (second edition, impossible to find). Necropunks. Bonus purchases: Carrion emissary Von Schtook is a summoner and basically needs some of everything, but if you can pick up University of Transmortis it is very easy to fill out the basics of his crew. McMourning Core box, 2nd edition Stitched and Sewn Bonus purchases: Rogue Necromancy. Buying McMourning this way is a bit awkward for future purchases, but his 2nd edition core box includes a wide variety of models. If you throw in a Stitched and Sewn, you'll basically be set for a while with the crew. Yan Lo Just buy all three of his boxes I think (although maybe you could skimp on one of them. Ironically Eternal Servitude might be the least necessary). Just my opinions!
  14. Masters that stand out to me in this pool (which incidentally are the four masters I plan to own 😜 ) Yan Lo I haven't played Yan Lo yet, but seems like he could go for a 'take the centre' approach to score at least three points off of leylines. That leaves Leave Your Mark, Assassinate, and Take Prisoner (with Yin) with solid scoring options. By the same token, Yan would be denying the mid and could play a game dedicated to never crossing the centre line (except maybe for that last point). A strong turtling strategy could pay off here. McMourning Same as Yan Lo, really. I haven't played much McMourning but could pull off a solid turtle. Could set up an epic turtle + mid strategy here. Take prisoner is trickier, but can always OOK Yin. Reva Between Wanyudo, Lampads, and Reva, should be possible to set up pretty aggressively for the lodestones. Shieldbearers are a dream come true for knocking enemy lodestone carriers out of position. So this crew could go very hard on the strategy. The schemes seem a bit trickier, but Breakthrough is an easy one pointer. Assassinate is definitely a possibility in some matchups. Leave your mark is possible with 'turret' vincent st. clair providing cover fire for the centre. Yin for prisoner, etc. Molly I may be biased, but feel like Molly can handle basically any scheme pool (though not necessarily any master). Here she could take the centre pretty hard - both grave golem and Philip and the Nanny are appealing options there. Assassinate is a lot easier when you can take Archie, Manos, Dead Rider and have cards to spare. Breakthrough is a cake walk for Molly, as is Leave your Mark. Scheme markers in general are her jam. Hidden martyrs I've always wanted to try with Archie and a crooligan, so definitely a consideration as well. @Wyamphri will hopefully play this pool with Reva, so I might try to tackle it with Molly.
  15. Our first community pool! Let me know if anyone thinks anything should change. I tried to make it super-friendly to newer people/people who don't post very much, so I put some templates that people can copy and paste to make responses. Will see if it helps! I'm going to try to play the pool next Thursday if possible.
  16. This thread is for all ressers: master and newbie alike! In this thread we'll all come together to discuss a scheme pool. Ideally some of us will even get to play it! Pool 1: Standard Corrupted Leylines Corrupted Leylines - Standard Deployment 1 Breakthrough 2 Take Prisoner 4 Assassinate 6 Hidden Martyrs 10 Leave your Mark How to participate: Just post! You can post theorycraft about what master or list you'd take into this pool, or you can post a list you want to take into this pool seeking advice, or a battle report of actually playing the pool. If you're not confident posting, I'll slap some templates here that you can steal to make a reply. These are just suggestions, though! Theorycraft: I think <X, Y, or Z> would be good because <reason>. List seeking advice: I am thinking of taking this list or master: ... ... I will be up against <faction or master opponent declared> (if known). I own: <list models or crews>. I think this list will work because <reason>, or I want to try this list because <reason>. Battle report: My list: ... ... Opponents master (or list if you have their whole list) ... ... Outcome and schemes I took: Summary of how it went: Things I would do differently:
  17. Ahhhh yeah, the crew really needs Archie to operate smoothly and efficiently (it is why I gripe about his nerf so much). But to me, having crooligans teleporting all over the board is just so much fun and so powerful. But that only works with a few engines (Archie, Dead Rider + Necrotic Machine, Philip and the Nanny), and P&N is a bit too weak for many pools. Excited to hear how going back to Yan Lo goes! He is my number one purchase for this year if his core box comes out (since I already have eternal servitude and don't have a super tanky, combat-oriented crew yet).
  18. Molly is my absolute favourite, so sorry to hear this! Although the crew is way clunkier after the Archie nerf, so can kind of understand. Any idea who you'll try next?
  19. Forgotten overall is pretty alright, but few people play Philip and the Nanny. And Rabble risers can be a bit rare as well. Rabble risers would be pretty neat with juggernaut. P&N could use a direct buff, but every buff to the minions also buffs them, so have to be careful there.
  20. How about this: Every week or two we post a new scheme pool. People can theorycraft it or even play it, and we discuss lists for it. I think itd be awesome if we all play the same pools! Ill post the first one if three or more people approve Plus itll be new player friendly. If people struggle with the pool, they can get help planning, Hopefully therell be help for any master!
  21. Seen you post this somewhere before! Absolutely epic!!
  22. Thanks! It was my first ever sculpt, but I may give it some of those upgrades someday!
  23. Ressers forum has always been a bit dead, although has picked up a bit! Covid-19 really put a dent in it, though. We often see an uptick when a new core box is released (like if McMourning or Yan Lo core boxes are announced, we'll see an uptick in interest). Personally I'd love a pool/what you'd take series every so often. Only problem is my range of models is pretty limited, so I'd only be able to offer "I'd take this variant of Molly or Reva" most of the time.
  24. To build upon the above, if a model is killed by an insignificant model in public enemies, treat it as the same as if it had died by a neutral element (like walking into hazardous terrain damage). Aka, no bounty tokens!
  25. As Adran above, and to answer your other question: It is once per activation per model*, so both Reva and Shieldbearer can do it in one activation. *close enough.
