  1. It does sound nasty šŸ˜ What would you imagine would be the lynchpins of a Ramos crew?
  2. Just a decent whack of the nerf bat to a couple of the explorers. Seeker, DUA/Umbra and Cadmus. And Iā€™d love to see Plant Explosives back.
  3. I found him hiding in Germany, and I finally caved in and got the crew - as I always wanted to paint the model, but held back because I wasnā€™t a filthy arcanist (at the time). As Iā€™m still pretty new to the filthy Arcanists - only had a handful of games with Colette and Ironsides - Iā€™d love to get some pointers as to how to approach the Machina crew. I get the feel at first glance, itā€™s something about overwhelming the opponent with suicide bombing murder bots. But is there another way? Or how do you go about this optimally? Thanks šŸ˜Š
  4. Itā€™s not like he didnā€™t expect it from the day. Heā€™s pretty experienced in TT games, and he knows winning comes from experience and understanding the rules. He knew his Ulix list was a one-trick poā€¦pig, and there were things he just wanted to try out - like bringing two bayou gremlins instead of having 4 stones that could have given him some staying power. EDiT : he just announced that he was going to get English Ivan, so soon I will be outcheesed šŸ¤¢
  5. GAME NUMBER THREE : CORRUPTED LEY LINES vs ULIX My opponent had two games under his belt in two years, but his teeth were whetted and his pigs were hungry for blood. I had no intention of obliging him, so I brought out Cooper again - a little concerned that the pigs would be as fast and a lot more dangerous than the performers, so I got. I chose Research Mission and Catch and Release Vasquez and Lola (Breath of fire vs clumped big bases seemed like a great idea.) 2 Spider Swarms (one to do Catch and Release) Mercury and Thin Lizzy (w. Magical Training) He opened by making a push towards my left w. Old Major and a Warpig, so to take the brunt of the charge, Cooper ran to face them and hold them back. Meanwhile Ulix weā€™re growing wild boars into war pigs and heading for the centre. Vasquez went to set Old Major and the War Pig on fire, behind him Lola held up the charge from the centre boars with her finesse, and could support Vasquez with her fiery halitosis. And then there was the pitterpatter of tiny metallic feet, when my spider swarms descended on Ulix. While the two showgirls handled the idols and passing out Distracted - Celebrity is perfect for ā€˜sportsā€™. We ended the game by the end of turn 2, Old Major, Penelope and the War Pig had been burned into ultra crispy bacon, and it was obvious where it was heading. Ultimately it was a n00b stomping, my opponent had no tools to deal with the superior mobility and the amount of negative flips I imposed upon his pigs, and he relied on him having the initiative, as heā€™d seen working in his two previous games on the day, but we had a good talk about alternate crews and how to approach things. I brought the showgirls mostly to demonstrate the theme, and thinking it might be practical with the occasional lure to deny strat. Yet, I kind of liked them as ball carriers. They get plenty of excuses to interact and get to hand it distracted, as they do so.
  6. GAME NUMBER TWO : TURF WAR vs DASHEL This time I decided to bring Toni. Only having fielded her once before, I had an itch for pugilist. She asked Fitzsimmons to do Claim Jump and promised to Assassinate Dashel. Toni + Mouse deployed and headed for the middle with Fitzsimmons and a Gunsmith for support. Amina, Howard and a Steamfitter swept right. Dashel and the Dispatcher headed for the middle as well and summoned an extra executioner, while an executioner sought to flank my left, while two mounted guards and Queeg headed to face my right. I had a true ā€œGotcha!ā€-moment, when Toni asked the first executioner to Bring it! And soon she was facing off vs two of them and being denied her defensive triggers!!! šŸ˜³ - yet with enough shielded and adrenaline and the help of Fitz, mouse and the gunsmith she persevered and killed them off to hook up with Dashel. Who then brought himself to half health, trying to hit her - I felt kinda bad (in a good way) šŸ¤“ Howard killed off the mounted guards (and guards) empowering 4 soulstones, before dying himself to the switchblade of an undercover reporter, but by then it was too late for the guards and it was a solid WIN 7-1
  7. No tournament, just a bunch of guys hanging out and playing TT games. I embraced the opportunity to get some table time with my arcanists GAME NUMBER ONE : TURF WAR vs SHEN LONG Mr. Cooper (Collette) seemed like a fun choice, and for schemes he chose Breakthrough and Death Beds. And brought : 3 Monkeys Baritone Lola and Vasquez ( I like the two fire breathers A LOT) Coryphee Duet Steam Arachnid Swarm w. Diesel Medical Autotomato. 7 stones vs Shenlong + totems Sensei Yu Fuhatsu 2 drunken monks 1 wandering 1 thunder archer My right flank became a brawl between Lola and the two drunken monks, as she burned the alcohol from their blood. Everyone else met up for a brawl in the centre, but the monks were unable to hit, and the performers unable to put out enough damage to avoid the monks healing back up. Yet, that was just all a part of Coopers plan, as he presto-changoed away to take one of the opposing strat markers. Unfortunately a wandering monk had the same idea, and we just traded markers. Meanwhile Vasquez and the Duet held up the middle, before breaking away for the final round and neutralize the monks deployment zone strat marker allowing Cooper to presto-change him and score both the strat and the first point of Breakthrough. Yet so did my opponent, and a Claim Jump point, so we ended with a TIE 4-4 I finally feel Iā€™ve got the hang of using the doves for mobility, dive bombing and pure annoyance.
  8. When youā€™re coming from Neverborn the versatility and speed of those factions feels like easy-mode And thanks šŸ˜Š
  9. Getting ready for a looong saturday of nerdy doll pushing šŸ˜Š Getting out of my Neverborn comfort zone and Diving deep into my Arcanists and Thunders.
  10. So Iā€™m doing a little procrastination from my procrastination project.
  11. Marco is a hurricane of inspiration šŸ˜Š And I know all about juggling your hobby budget between miniatures and paint stuff (and your other hobbies). One of the great things about faux is that a keyword is a very contained project. So theyā€™re great for setting yourself a goal; a technique to try out or a certain colour scheme to add a couple of extra colours to your collection or trying out a new brand. BTW your Woes are coming along great.
  12. Sheesh! That there olā€™ Jedza gal is one tough broad - luckily only had one previous game with her, otherwise Iā€™d been wrecked šŸ„ŗ To take Claim Jump and Detonate Charges Jedza brought: Jedza + Sophie Mikhail w. Treasure Map Twiggy and Austera The Darned Vernon and Welles Emissary And faced off vs Ironsides trying to make Claim Jump and Research Mission with : Toni + Mouse Amina Howard w. Soulstone Cache Spider Swarm w. Diesel Engine Gunsmith w. Magical Training Steamfitter - As anyone would suspect, it ended with a big brawl in the middle. Howard - supported by Amina and the steamfitter - did his worst, and managed to take down the Emissary by turn 3. Ironsides suckerpunched the Darned and managed to foil Mikhails bid for the second point of Claim Jump. The Spider Swarm handled the right flank on itā€™s own - but a couple of bad choices in activation order meant that I lost it to VW (which had 1 wound left), meaning I only scored 2 points for Turf War and my opponent 3. Toni Suckerpunched the Darned, and tried to kick Mikhailā€™s teeth in - but thatā€™s where the Jedza magic kicked in. Jedza herself was probably a little too cautious - but healing Mikhail and the Emissary was probably good enough and her and Twiggy managed to get a point of Detonate and brought the score to 5-2 The Gunsmith biggest contribution was her magical training and as a diversion. I should probably have looked more into versatility and gotten a second Swarm. - But a good 1st Ironsides game. It was a tough matchup - and maybe not the best for Toni, my choice for schemes was less than sub-optimal šŸ¤« But Amina/Steamfitter/Howard is quite the combo - whether itā€™s worth 28 stones is another matter.

  14. Sorry about that @Morgan Vening. I updated the OP to hopefully make it a little clearer. Iā€™m a dirty arcanist of the M&SU šŸ˜›
  15. They donā€™t do the same thing, and they arenā€™t mutually exclusive. - ā€˜Since youā€™re new. My advice is to NOT get any versatiles. Instead gather up the full keyword and get some games in to understand the function of all your models and the principles of the game. Expect to lose. Malifaux is complex, there are few useless models, but their utility is dependent on schemes, terrain, deployment and strategy. Unlike more popular games like 40K, you canā€™t just get the optimum list. You need to consider the game ahead, and know what your models can do, and how they fit into the keyword. Only once you understand your keyword will you see what it can do, and when you need to bring in extra help.
  16. Iā€™m facing off with Ironsides vs Jedza in : Turf War, Standard Detonate Charges, Claim Jump, Desth Beds, Let them bleed, Research Mission As itā€™s my first time with either, Iā€™d love to hear some pointers and advice. Thanks - and may all your flips be severe

  18. Go with the Kharmic and the Silent. That should suffice at first. Yasunori is a great purchase for paint and display, but out of favour when it comes to gameplay - after a short stint of being bonkers broken. The Dragons are a great purchase as well, but you should really stay within keyword at first. Get a feel and understanding of all your models and their use before branching out.
  19. Itā€™s annoying because it feels clunky. And it feels clunky, because it was a last-minute-before-printing change, made because they just realized that Iggy had the potential for giving infinite Burning. So rather than fixing the troublesome model, they chose to nerf an entire keyword. Something like the Box Opens is balanced around being a bonus action and only done once per turn - and that you canā€™t gain Stunned once you have it. Iā€™d much rather see a ā€˜Dora in synergy with her keyword handing out Stunned, rather than the Self Loathing-slinger she is now. And itā€™s not as if the Woe are bad, Iā€™d just love to see them more streamlined.
  20. Yea, Itā€™s not that different from an Obey on a friendly model when you look at it, yet the opponent gets to resist it. And Youā€™re very limited in terms of actions to take and the viable models to use, and you need to discard a card - compare that to a Lawyer obeying an Inhuman Mature to charge for 4+ damage. - What really needs to get touched is THE CARVER the poor guy is the laughing stock of both Nightmares and Woe (just slightly above Lyssa). The poor guy needs something cool or some speed, or, orā€¦ just a reason to field him. And letā€™s just dump IGGY and feed him to the Arcanists. He is the only reason Misery got panic-nerfed before release and got the once per activation clause. They nerfed the entire Woe keyword because it made Kaeris too good, while we got stuck with all the bookkeeping for the sake of something we couldnā€™t even exploit. And give DREAMER something in return for the toys they stole - I mean, they literally took plushy toys from a kid, who does that? Let the poor boy have his Lucid Dreaming back at least. I mean, Kirai and the Oni girl, even Dashel does something cool, while Dreamer has to make do with summoning a few measly tar pits that doesnā€™t really stand out against the likes of an Executioner or a Jorugomo. And while weā€™re at the nightmares, everyones favourite squid face COPELLIUS needs some love. I mean, heā€™s been loyal to dream boy since forever, give him Henchman status, give him a good bonus action, give him something so I wonā€™t always put him back on the shelf. Which brings me to CANDY, she might just be the cutest auto-include in all of neverborn. I donā€™t see a single crew or game where she wouldnā€™t make ā€˜little girl of the matchā€™. She doesnā€™t need a nerf, but maybe tax her an extra stone for hanging out in other crews - Iā€™d still consider her over Squidface and Carver. And then thereā€™s BABY KADE, he and Teddy are just a two-part model, theme-wise and gameplaywise. Dump the clunky versatile-thing on I Got My Teddy, and just give him a straight one-stone discount. And take a look at those UPGRADES and give us something worthwhile, so Iā€™d at least consider looking at them. They donā€™t need to be Ressur-level good, but Arcanist-level would be nice. Oh and give TWOCIUS a new model. Lucy is the Queen of style and fashion, he deserves better than being an Assassinā€™s Creed knock-off. Making a RuPaul homage would be more fitting - and go hand in hand with the rules as Ru really knows how to make an entrance. Iā€™m sure the Widow Weaver would love to spin him a ball gown. But other than that Iā€™m good.
  21. The results are in. The crews were : Colette + doves Baritone Lola Carlos Captain 2 Spider Swarms w. Diesel Engine Schemes : Outflank, Breakthrough vs Ophelia Overloaded + young lacroix Francois + coffee Merris Sly Raphael + Coffee Rami Raider Schemes : Outflank, Let How it went down : The Performers took the initiative, kicking two cans turn 1. But the sneaky gobbos had set up an ambush on the right flank as Raphael hit Carlos with a tar bomb, and only survived due to eating three stones. Merris joined in on the ambush, but didnā€™t take into account how fast those spider swarms were, and she got ripped apart. Carlos and the swarm held on through round four killing Rami and a young lacroix, before Raphael put a stop to it. The right flank melee resulted in one point to the performers for a kicked can, and ruined both our attempts for outflank. Colette took center stage along with the Captain and a spider, and held off Ophelia and Francois, but despite their best attempts, they couldnā€™t break through to the deployment, instead Colette scored a single can. While Ophelia and Francois scored 2 points for Let them bleed. The left flank was fairly calm and left to Lola and Sly and the raider, but as Lola kicked her can by turn 1, she could concentrate on killing - then kicking the can past the 8ā€ Mark. So at the end the score was 4 - 2 to the performers. And I doubt any of us will pick Outflank again
