  1. Just sticking to the models I have or would get, I love Ama No Zako, oh that lady does it for me! Giant oni that eats littles she finds about and a nice lantern to light the way on long dark nights - how considerate of her! What I don't care for is Ototo. I like him, I do.... just not the perma-jumping pose.
  2. New tales and I got some time off coming up... well well well. gonna be a good change of seasons.
  3. I've been on the fence for a while on which faction to expand. Still not sure which one to fully expand, but it'll be from some of these.
  4. While this is nice and all (I mean, reaaaaaaly nice - TY!), why go through DriveThru when you could put it on your own download page? Conspiracies behind closed doors I'm sure.
  5. Is it too late to say Excited! Reaaaaaally looking forward to this, both as a model and in a crew. Top-notch all around.
  6. Really, cool but bizare? I like them, though I don't play the faction, .... just, hrmmm in the best way possible.
  7. Stuff like this is why dabbling in cool models starts new armies.
  8. I love the story encounters and I play TT, so yup, gonna get this! Great stuff, keep it coming.
  9. I've heard some good things on her discard trigger (pod cast and Paint it Pink's blog - good read there!), but like learning to remember all the little nooks and crannys of a new model, changing style is (for me) often tough to do. I think I'll give it another attempt and just write in marker all over my hand "discard trigger". Hope that my opponent doesn't notice
  10. That is SO SHINEY! Will there be plans for more themed? oh yes, please.
  11. Good enough for me Bengt, tyvm. I guess I was just perturbed over Shangs status.
  12. Hmm, wasn't familiar with Showgirl, which seems like they make them for some themes and not others. Thanks for the expanded examples Phinn.
  13. Looks and theme are a big part of getting into and choosing a faction. No one wants to play with models they don't like. Though I would push for Shenlong (+Sensie Yu!), if that ascetic does not appeal to your friend then go with Indiana Jon... McCabe. When finances allow, getting Sensei Yu (or Yan Lo box set for Chiaki - my next purchase) will probably go well, but the local meta will really dictate what your friend feels they are in need of for their crew. As for additions outside of box sets, Izamu and Katanaka Snipers are both great models and rules to use that will go a long way with any crew.
  14. Things and creatures, magical and benign, working together in any setting or medium is a staple of almost any universe. Things that are totems, symbols of a group of people or tribe or that represent an idea, are absolutely bound to that group of people or idea, that is the definition of what a totem is. Given, in fantasy settings there is always leeway that must be given for creative use of words and ideas to convey that universes intent without the need to invent new words, I will concede that point. But, Wyrd seems to have grouped and even titled totems together with their given master. Even for things like Shenlong's Peasants, they are a representation (here in human/social class form) of what Shenlong represents - his ... totems. Edit: So, this is why I think Shang should have the Last Blossom key-word.
  15. hmm, this actually sounds a bit more plausible, though Shangs cost is only barely below the Oiran and as it is a super specialized and insignificant model I feel its' point cost is appropriate. I suppose the argument might also be made that it is not Last Blossom to prevent Misaki from having a mobile teleport beacon, but Misaki is already super-mobile so that sort of falls through too.
  16. I think that sounds like a bad analogy Spike. Shang is her totem, it only goes with her, they are bonded in a manner and not just ships passing in the night. It is not that Shang does not resemble the theme, my argument/question is that Shang is attached (in a manner that all totems are attached or may only be taken by their respective master) to Misaki. Being Last Blossom would be irrelevant if Shang could be taken solo but it is not.
  17. Why not? My understanding is you can't take totems without their master, so taking Misaki for her Outcast faction would not prevent you from taking Shang and Misaki could still take the Smoke & Shadow UG. That scenario would be beneficial.
  18. Okay, guess I just took the Overhead View thing a bit too strong - just seemed simple to me. I'll go re-read.
  19. Apologies if this should be in the TT area instead. Misaki's totem, Sheng, does not have her Last Blossom key word on its' card. I am wondering if this is a common omission for totems and their masters, as it seems like totems should have grouping affects like those listed so they can share benefits.
  20. But as everything is viewed from an overhead POV, if this was done and though the marker would physically fall, from the overhead POV it would still appear B2B.
  21. That is great clarity Clockwork, thanks. It was something I was wondering as I read this.
  22. Thanks Omenbringer, and in other situations I might but as I went and got a bunch of Secret Weapon bases then I sort of forgo some personal customization. I'll keep that in mind for my Gremlins.
  23. Having a well rounded available set of models and being familiar with the schemes and missions will dictate a lot. As Misaki is my only master currently, I enjoy the Last Blossom theme as well as having some solid support with Katanaka Snipers and Yamaziko. Just off of the readings here, getting Sensei Yu is pretty shiney.
  24. I really enjoy these "what if..." and themed posts as I just started and enjoy thematic over WAAC - I'm in it for the cool models. That being said, I just started and have The Thunder set, Yamaziko, Ama No Zaku, Shadow Effigy, and Katanaka Snipers, with Oiran in my sights. Using Smoke & Shadow is so crazy-wonderful. With Misaki movements, I can run her up one side with a sniper covering, send Yamaziko or Ama No Zaku up the center (and the plan is to do this with an Oiran), and the rest on the opposite side. Snipers let you weaken a side and then S&S as needed to the other side makes for some wicked fun "castling".
  25. This is what I was thinking it would be, thank you Bengt. Hadn't planned on just upping the size, why I thought I'd do a quick Q here. Cheers.
