  1. As mentioned before, terrifying and pulses are heavily mitigated by Unionized. Oxfordian Mages help with the ambient removal, but also remember Toni can remove it herself with her bonus action. Also note Union Miners and Howard ignore Candy and Pandy's Df triggers. Amina can put out Adversary at range (worth the stone needed) to circumvent Candy's Manipulative. Concealment is amazing. Both Candy and Pandy have no melee attacks, so have to focus or stone to have a chance at hitting you. Also Howards steam still plinks those two. Don't discount Elijah. He's cheaper than Raspy, or Joss, hits like a truck, and has indirect damage through blade rush and burning. While there's no pyres to protect him, you have decent healing options, and can safely put burning on him with miners. Lastly, remember that triggers are declared when totals are finalized. If someone puts stunned on you with an action, that stunned will not apply to the duel you're currently resolving. Overall yeah, Toni is a pretty safe pick into Neverborn. The worst matchup is possibly Dreamer simply because Insidious Madness's Scatter is unresisted and if he forces through a Wp attack, your bubble is in danger.
  2. Core box is out and about (currently sold out on the web store). None of her supplemental stuff is available, though, so she's kind of unplayable without previously owning her keyword or lucking into a bunch of M2E boxes.
  3. After a rousing speech given to the people of Innocence to put their backs into preparations for the coming battle, my Invested hit the Red Joker and basically recreated the entirety of Be A Man from Mulan. Seeing how inspiring he could be with word (and song) I decided to pursue a...pursuit befitting of a classic Bard from fantasy RPGs. While there's nothing in the books depicting inspiring minstrels (the Into The Bayou advanced pursuit was more about being obnoxious) there still was a relatively easy answer: Collaborator. So with a voxcaster installed into his chest (why waste time playing an instrument when you can use the wonders of technology!) my newly minted Busker completed the rest of the module supporting the town and the rest of the party with his borrowed music.

  5. So been in a bit of a rut with my core crew almost always consisting of Amina, Fitz, and Howard. The gist of it, obviously, being to keep the steam bubble up as much as possible and grind things against it. This works for a lot of situations but still lacks in a lot of places and against certain masters/keywords. I'm going to start branching out more and trying a few ideas. I think Toni can do a pretty good Injury spam list, as well a 'wall of bodies' idea I have floating around. I'll keep you posted. Fun bits of 'Oh this works really well' from my last tournament: Steamfitters are clutch for emergency healing Howard and the Mechanical Rider. Being able to charge a guaranteed 2 health into your construct buddies cannot be understated. As fun as the Emissary's main attack is, I find his tactical to be just as useful in several situations. Mainly bubble busting and hurting groups (especially incorporeal). Still didn't save me in a game against Dreamer, but I know now know the weaknesses of my usual builds against him.
  6. Alright. Finished basically all I wanted to do for this thread. Lemmie hear how your games go!
  7. What: Faux Moines and the Soulstone Tower is a 50ss M3E Three Round Tournament. We will be using Gaining Grounds Season 0 rules and the 'Bans' variant. 8. Because that seemed like an acceptable change for a model that I feel is just a bit too good for 6 stones?
  9. Being on the receiving end of these, I think Mad Dog Brackett, Guilty, Rusty, & A&D are my biggest complaints. Mad Dog - Cost increase and/or only Injured +1 on the Cigar. Rusty - cost increase and she probably doesn't need execute. Min 3 with relatively easy access to 4 shots an activation is plenty. A&D - Cost increase. Insignificant on Dust Storm Guilty - Cost increase. Some of these are probably a bit extreme, but it's just my initial thoughts.
  10. I think he's perfectly balanced around mediocre stats and pretty bland actions. The dude doesn't even have a trigger on his entire card.
  11. I would be fine with Swarms going up a stone in cost. I feel like that's relatively safe. Amina shouldn't stop the attack from charging on her own Obeys. She's nerfing herself. Saboteurs need SOMETHING to keep them alive. Stealth might be too powerful, but they really die quickly. The Captain could use a nudge. Maybe a -1 to cost and/or a bump to the target number on his shockwave. Alternatively, allow his to negate the damage/burning of his shockwave on friendlies to get a little of his old M2E utility back. I get use out of Steamfitters most of the time, but it still feels like they lack enough of the support that people think they're meant to be performing. Needing a 7 and a tome to give M&SU focused is pathetic when looking at something like a Freikorps Engineer. Give Medibots a purpose in Hoffman or make them Versatile/M&SU I don't like giving out pass tokens due to Totems coming in multiples (feels like a punishment) Perhaps an ability on Mechanical Doves that makes all of them only count as one model for purposes of Pass Token generation?

  13. Won the Renegade Open tournament while taking Toni 2/3 rounds. The second round with Ramos I'm confident I could have won with her too. She seems to do all right against Ressers.
  14. The goal is actually to have them charge Ironsides who's in the steam bubble. That's 3-6 damage you're not getting. It IS possible with positioning but I don't think that you should have to finagle your stuff so much to be able to do what they seem like they're supposed to do in the first place.
  15. So I've been playing Amina incorrectly and I find it incredibly frustrating that attempting to play with what your crew needs for survival and attempting to play Amina to your crew's strengths is so hamstrung. First off, that friendly Concealment from Diesel Engine/Vent Steam hampers her Obey. Now she needs to burn a Focus to ensure she can reach her target number just because you wanted to protect the crew from ranged attacks. You could argue this was intended to make you choose between safety and offense/support. I can begrudgingly accept that. Second, though, her own Reach of the Union screws with your ability to take advantage of Toni's Df trigger or Howards Vent Steam. It's a blanket prevention, so Amina can't make enemies charge anything within 6 of her.
  16. I dropped Atlantis into the Malifaux badlands. Thought it would be believable in the Faux-verse if the mythical city not only existed, but actually fell into Malifaux instead of the ocean. It became a sort of magical nexus between Earth and Malifaux, and is governed by a homebrew faction whose goal is absolute magical freedom for all (including necromancy). It was a bit of a more lighthearted story arc, as the party was tasked with resolving a rivalry between Pyotr Tchaikovsky and John Philip Sousa (both terribly accomplished magicians along with their musical instruments accolades). The city was a bit of a mix of oasis and pseudo-utopia, juxtaposing nicely with how harsh and unforgiving the badlands were.
  17. Puppet Ironsides with dorky oversized fists (containing chew toy squeakers, of course).
  18. I can see why it's questionable and vague. Honestly, I prefer the simplicity of 'subsequent' meaning 'all damage flips contained within the action' but won't throw a fit if it gets FAQ'ed to be you cant (it's more of a cute trick anyways with Toni).
  19. The most frightening part of the bayou is what lies underneath. Specifically, the locations of the Red Cage and Sunken City. While the native fauna (and often flora) is out to kill you, some nice folks from the Explorers' Society have already written (and revised) a guide to navigate the treacherous waters of the Bayou. No, anyone will tell you that the scariest thing is the unknown, and we know next to nothing of the Malifaux that was. The glimpses we've seen of it, whether its the nightmares of the Necropolis or the Geiger-esque horrors spilling from the Red Cage, hint at some ancient and maddening that the humans of Malifaux are not at all equipped to deal with. The Sunken City is the most promising because it's untapped. We have no idea what's lurking beneath the ruins and Silurid nests, but if it's anything like it's sister city Malifaux and even Earthside could be in danger.
  20. Whelp. This was already mentioned, but I'm going to do my own twist on it. The party get a mysterious invitation to an event out in the Eastern Knotwoods a full days ride from Fortune Falls. On their journey, they receive multiple ill omens of what will befall them when they reach their destination. Upon finally arriving, they stand and the titular Cabin in the Woods, an abandoned shack with no sign of host or guests but with enough provisions to last a few days (oh look, a nasty storm is rolling in). If they attempt to leave, they are forcefully stopped by a magical barrier encompassing the the cabin and the nearby woods. Within the cabin are various trinkets, books, fetishes, and other ominous items that seemingly summon associated monsters and beasts near the cabin once interacted with. The party will finally find an old mineshaft that leads to a not-so-abandoned cave network. It seems a cult has taken residence in the mine, and this whole endeavor was an elaborate sacrifice to appease some dark god they refer to as 'Witness'. Since this ritual has gone horribly wrong, the avatar of this 'Tyrant' threatens to awake and wreak havok on all of Malifaux. What will the party do?
  21. Yarp. Specifically just the Schemes and Strategies, as I don't want to comb through and update my entire play pack with where I diverge.
  22. I downloaded the pdfs from the Google drive and then use a pdf-to-jpg converter online
  23. What: One Fallow Night is a 50ss M3E Three Round Tournament Where: Mayhem Comics and Games in Clive, IA (Des Moines) When: November 9th, starting at 10am Cost: $10 entry fee. 24. I've been a bit busy lately, what with running a tournament and having a child, but I'll be getting back to my model breakdowns soon. I've had a lot of good fortune with games lately, and am feeling more positive about Toni that I have been for a long time. Also! I recorded an episode with Craig Shipman (Third Floor Wars) so look forward to that coming out in the coming weeks.
