  1. By caster do you mean uses Ca spells or main attack is Ca. And if so are summoners really casters?
  2. That is incorrect. If they can see you. You can see them. Auras and pulses effect all models in range of the pulse aura. That have los to the model generating it. Page 50 The ht of a pulse or auras is quite irrelevant at the moment.
  3. You are not wrong. But. Showing the page numbers that show models block los. And then the page about auras needing los, is much more helpful then. Here is the answer because I say so. Giving the answer with pages and references so the poster can see for themselves is much more constructive. It might be even in the "how to answer a rules question " topic. Just some helpful advice.
  4. The vulture does not need to find the climbable part. But what it does need to do is spend 1" of movement per 1" vertical. So unless your vulture is walk 12 he is not making it to the roof. You can find this in the faq.
  5. A friendly tone is helpful as are page numbers in the rule book. If it was clear to him he would not have asked the question. Page 40 for "no Los" Page 50 the call out box should be very helpful. Both of these are big book. Cheers.
  6. Note. Incorporeal includes pushes. Flight does not.
  7. If the initiative flip was a sliding bar. You minimizing the the impact should increase your opponents need to win it. Not always true but again average/generally. But in my experience the enemy ruins most plans. As do cards lol.
  8. Not specifically aimed at you. But just a over all. Tara players like winning so they drop beasties on people. Arcanist got seize the day. Guild with sleuthing. Gremlins with trixxiebelle. Nb with doppelganger. Upgrades and models are about for this flip. Just curious on other people's view points.
  9. Importance. To you personally. As an overall. Not specifically that one game it made all the difference
  10. Scale of 1-5 I personally rate it as 4. But in most games it will some times hit 5. And occasionally a 10. As in you lose that flip you lose cards having no bearing.
  11. I don't disagree. But. In my experience putting yourself in position to kill anything of theirs makes their initiative flip vital. If your doing everything right then they need initiative to hopefully put you on your back foot. Then there is cards making sure bets fail. And vice versa. Unless both players hide in their respective deployment zones. The initiative flip is and will be vital to one or both players in that game. To mitigate that threatening multiple fronts will make your opponent make the choice of who he is going to lose. Or what vp he can't get.
  12. I'm a very competitive person. But I also enjoy fun. I find no enjoyment in baby seal clubbing. I would rather be extremely Altruistic and help my opponent so they can become a better player. I consistently play my opponents crew in my mind. Of what I would do to win or make the most out if the situation. That said I think I would enjoy a game against specter. To let loose as it were. But what I don't agree with is that scouting has impact on the actual game. You build your crew around the strategy and schemes. What my opponent brings has no bearing on my crew. Scheme heavy bring runners/denial. Killy schemes bring killy stuff. But specter is not wrong. Competitive gaming is good for this game. Hopefully our resident psychologist can agree that the elation if victory after battling wits and strategies is quite addictive.
  13. Yay someone else who understands. But right when kang dies r2 is now in los and a legal target.
  14. You might notice that whirlwind NEVER mentions los. Just in range.
  15. You choose the upgrade. Also McCabe does not get his upgrades back
  16. No upgrade is "necessary" on any master. (Sans Tara God does she need her upgrades) but for one stone you open up a plethora of options to hire your crew from now. So that alone is worth an upgrade slot. But levy doesn't need it no. But if the options are there why don't you use them?
  17. Why do people think Perdita and friends are op? Ehh thoughts for a different thread. On topic. Sonnia has the flexibility to use any model in the guild arsenal. She most definitely is not pigeon holed in to just stalkers and burning. Or making stalkers or etc. She is actually quite self sufficient in her own right. So the real question is what do you need for the strategy and schemes at hand. Guild hounds and watchers and guild guard are good for objectives. Executioner is good at hitting things as is the resilient peacekeeper. Death marshals are good models who have a sweet box. Exorcists are great vs well lots of things. Etc etc. Etc. Etc. So you want to expand Sonnia. Buy the whole guild line. She can use all of it when warranted. Also get. A Malifaux child. He is a nice addition for extra flame walls or flamebursts.
  18. You could save that stone for prevention or defense. True. But if you win that initiative flip you won't need that stone and it will save you other resources (if applicable ofc) but if my options are prevent x damage but still suffer or reflipping the initiative flip. Will go with the flip every time. But you are right it is subjective to every turn. And changes every turn. But initiative flips win games. If you went and browsed though battle reports you will see it. The Lamentable initiative flip,
  19. I find it helpful to post the rules in question. Now You See Me...: After suffering damage, discard target Scheme Marker within 1" to reduce the damage to 0, then place this model anywhere within 6". All Part of the Show: Friendly Showgirls may treat this model as if it were a friendly Scheme Marker for the purposes of Actions and Abilities. If the Scheme Marker would be discarded, sacrifce this model (1) Detonate Soulstone: All models in 2 must pass a TN 14 Df duel or suffer 2 damage. Then, sacrifce this model. You are allowed to declare triggers on simple duels. Page 30. Colette can use the dove as a scheme marker according to the doves "All part of the show" The dove is still in play Untill the duels are resolved. Then it is sacrificed as per detonate soulstone. But since Colette can use it as a scheme marker it is discarded when she declares "Now you see me" So to answer your question yes she can discard an exploding dove to avoid the damage and even use it to teleport away. Cheers.
  20. Discarding cards When none in hand? Oh her temporal shift thingy. Well her whole hand is 0 so she did it right? Has no cards left so she did discard her hand. I guess it's how it's read. Edit and it's the faq I was perusing. Weird.
  21. Wanted to point out a few things the Defender gets first choice on if they want to use a stone first. Not the attacker. Page 32 of the big book for reference. So if they choose not to burn then burn away for suits or attack flips. Side note you put very very very little thought into the initiative flip. Turn 1 generally it's just movement here and there. But turn 2 and on wards depending on the game state (whose threatening who) the initiative flip is the most vital part of the game. Losing that loses games. You will notice so many games hinge on that flip. Wether it's a scheme runner dying or not dying killing that model you weakened the prior turn before it can heal etc. Planning 3 models ahead helps but when it comes down to it that initiative flip is all important. Its one of the reasons I have been taking expert slueth lately. Just so I can win those crucial flips. But all and all not a bad write up.
  22. Just saw this doesn't look like 40$ course I have not a clue about exchange rates. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/290930515728?cmd=VI_SPR
  23. So fastest killiest toughest master with the biggest model pool to choose from. Nope not op. Mediocre at best.
  24. I swear I posted that. But before you flip cards is after declare the action and when you choose the target. So in the take an action sequence it would fall under step 1. Along with choosing a target and actually telling your opponent what action you are doing. If you disagree and think differently please explain how and or why. On the design choice. This trigger is also used on enemy's lol. It happens it forces cards out of their hands and or buries their model. Having the option to fail any simple duel just because you want to doesn't really fit in I would think. Papa takes his explodey action. My guild guard next to him wants to live since dying would put a damper on his day. I want him to die since then my opponent would not get credit for something like make them suffer or a head marker. Can you really blame the guy for wanting to love. And at least try to dodge dynamite? Even if you as the great weaver and changer of fates want him to die. He is a person too ya know.
  25. What you need is some lelu's poison claws. Widow weavers poison bite. And wicked dolls. Splash in some performers and take Zoraida. Obey all the poison shenanigans. Neverborn Crew - 50 - Scrap Zoraida -- 7 Pool +Crystal Ball [2] +Hex Bag [1] Lelu [7] Performer [6] Performer [6] Silurid [7] Wicked Doll [4] Wicked Doll [4] Widow Weaver [8] +Handbag [2] Oddly enough slurids give poison also.
