  1. I just noticed this News and Reviews section of the forums for the first time and figured that I should drop some board game reviews into the mix. Here is my most recent review of the game Black Market Warehouse. I regularly post reviews of new games when I play them as well as many photos of finished miniatures and hobby tutorials. I hope you all enjoy!
  2. Gen Con events are still being submitted, so the schedule isn't set yet. Event registration begins on May 17th.
  3. I am digging the voodoo theme on him! Reminds me of New Orleans a little
  4. Welcome! Always good to have more enthusiastic hobbyists around here! The size that the game balance is said to be tuned to is 50ss, which is also the level most tournaments play at. If you're looking at getting in some smaller point games to learn the basic mechanics, I recommend giving the "Henchman Hardcore" format, the rules for which are available here.
  5. I love the idea of a Lovecraft themed game, I was wondering if you plan on going the traditional sculpting or digital sculpting method for the minis?
  6. They had an achievement league last year too. I didn't end up participating due to overbooking myself on other events, but definitely something that I hope to participate in this year.
  7. My understanding is that there is a whole thread for just being silly and off-topic. On the topic of off-topic yet tangentially related topics, once the course of conversation has veered far enough I am a fan of starting a new thread on said tangentially related topic and posting a link to the new thread within the original thread to allow both lines of conversation to flourish in their own right. Also, on a completely unrelated note... ...I kid, I kid!
  8. I would love love love to see this available for purchase to hang on my wall! (perhaps some sort of Gen Con special?) I have several gaming related things hanging on my walls in my hobby cave, but I am sorely lacking any Wyrd related products to hang upon my walls. Please help make my hobby cave all the more awesome!
  9. Most of the time I end up taking 2-3 on my master and then a couple on henchmen and enforcers. As primarily and arcanist player, I end up using imbued energies a lot--it's great to have that discard to make a model fast or to get a fist full of cards when Myranda sacs herself to turn into the doomkitty.
  10. Suddenly I have the desire to actually sculpt an eye patch on a model just because. Now which one of my WiP needs an eye patch...
  11. Does this mean that all future beards will come attached to their respective faces!? Keep the snarkiness coming, it makes the world far more interesting!
  12. Also very handy to use when your opponent is wary of your ice mirrors and keeps his model out of range of them--just cast the tornado onto your own guy and relent on defense to push him into range and watch your opponent despair as his careful avoidance of Raspy's range crumbles
  13. I am loving these Monday previews. They are reminding me to save up all of my pennies for Gen Con...
  14. Having recently come out with standardized rules for some alternate tournament formats (ie Henchman Hardcore, Enforcer Brawl) I think it would be cool to run a short tourney of one of those formats at an off time, such as after the vendor floor has closed, similar to the "Hang out with the Wyrd team" event you all had one evening last year. That would allow for more participants who might not be able to commit to the longer tournaments during the day. Henchman Hardcore is also an excellent way to introduce new players to the game; I will be coming with a good friend who I see very rarely (living 17 hours apart will cause that) and who doesn't play Malifaux, so I don't want to ditch him during the day to go play in a big tournament, but something like Henchman Hardcore or and Enforcer Brawl would be a really cool way to get some players who have never played before hooked into the game. Ultimately the purpose of having a presence at Gen Con is to expose people who have never heard of Malifaux to this game and hopefully convert them into players. Having an off hours, easy going, small format tourney event is a really cool way to hook in new players. Doing it on Friday or Saturday would give time to spread the word about the event and then allow the new players to hit up the Wyrd booth and buy their first crew.

    Snow Storm

The ice doesn't have LEDs or anything in it, but it does a good job of picking up the light from the spotlights I used to light the photo.

    Diorama

Very dynamic scene! I like how the stairway draws the eye upward and the glow effect in the zombie eyes is fantastic. You have done it again, Ratty!

    Rail Crew Web

Really great looking railroad tracks. I like how it lucks like they are cutting a new spur through some very desolate terrain.

    Light in the dark

Very dynamic! Really good job on the OSL. I particularly enjoy how the rock is hanging off of the round plinth, gives it a very dramatic feel.

    Rude Awakening

Very cool. Definitely tells a story. I like the grave around the zombie, would love to see it from another angle.

    Ama No Zako

I really like the work you did with the snow and frost! I also like the sneaky feel of the voodoo doll there.

    Crew

Spot on to the source material! Good to see a good representation of my favorite crew. Keep up the good work, Ratty!

    No Shelter Here By Nao

I like the purple color choice for the sorrows and poltergeist. I see these done in green so much that it's great to see this crew taken in a different direction and done very well.

    another image of the crew

A very cohesive crew. I particularly enjoy the swirly smoke parts of the sorrows and poltergeist.

    My standard Kirai crew

I particularly like the work you did on Yin's guts. I also enjoy your choice of background for photographing this crew.
