  1. wut.jpg It's funny though, as soon as I started reading your imaginary scene, the first thing I thought of when I got to here: was "tendrils of animated hair." Funny stuff though. Huh, this makes me wonder how long until Jorogumo's get a model, and or now many to a box. They seem like a 1-per box type, don't you think? Kind of unfortunate, but I've been interested in them since that book dropped, uuuguuu~ Last Blossom minions
  2. First. You need to work out your quoting skills Second. I was talking about Asami, I just happened to quote you because you had the "song" theme going Although I'm sure you're a cool guy too.
  3. I think I like you, I'm pretty sure I do. It's not quite an octopus, but, I can settle for tendrils of hair substituting for tentacles until they make a cephalopod crew for me Plus, playing Misaki and her totem for so long, it'll be nice to still have Rush of Magic moving into Asami once she's out. Since I'll obviously be buying this as soon as I possibly can
  4. Oh, really? I honestly would place Arcanist above 10T. But really that's odd. I mean, besides a focused Ancestors list for Yan Lo, I feel like there are certainly staple models the 10T like to bring. I mean really, a lot of the factions have fairly diverse list needs. What would you declare as the most homogeneous faction as far as over-lapping lists goes? I only ask because you point out "similar sized fires", but honestly, I hope there is not such a tournament scene where someone declaring a faction means you know at least half their list because it's the "go to" for that faction. But again, I don't play competitive, so I wouldn't know if that is a thing, it would just break my heart to hear there are such "cookie cutter" style options that trump the rest. I can see how it may be unappealing to have to "buy in" to multiple diverse crews, but consider factions like Ressers or Arcanist who summon. I don't feel like the fact that you want to "buy available summons" being too big of a draw back for them, is that really so different?
  5. Well, look who's been hanging out with @Aaron for too long. Well, on the plus side, we won! On the negative... we still have to wait 2(+?) days to see the rewards of our efforts I just want to see pretty pictures, is that so much to ask The real question is, who do we vote for next? Theoretically, if we all vote for any faction but the Arcanist, we could make them reveal last. That'll show them for winning Nytherea
  6. Isn't that almost entirely true of Arcanist? Between 10T and Arcanist, I consider the Arcanist to be so hyper focused on their "in theme" (Frozen Hearts, Showgirls, Beast, ect.) that they often feel like you would never want to take overlap between their masters. Meanwhile, the 10T have a handful of models which are sometimes considered gross enough to toss in any list. Need more staying power, toss in an Illuminated. Want (arguably) the grosses Henchman in the game? Throw a Sensei Yu at it! Plus, Thunder Bros are amazing. Granted, I am no competitive player, so far be it for me to question you. If you told me any of those models I listed aren't good to take in general? Then maybe I have no idea what's going on. But at the very least, not being the most try-hard competitive player I can, 10T feel solid. I seldom end up feeling like I've taking a poor list to any match I play. Granted, I don't play as frequently as I might like, so it may be my chosen opponents (The few friends I have that I play, quite infrequently).
  7. Did Shifting Loyalties bring any Wp <4 with it? I don't think I've heard of anything new that Zorida tries to toy with.
  8. Doesn't outdated imply that it has somehow stopped fulfilling it's useful role? Just because it is widely not used outside of America does not mean it is worthless. That's like saying that languages from smaller nations should be retired because the world has larger populations that speak different languages. Besides, don't they teach you that if everyone is jumping off a bridge, you don't simply do so as well. Telling anyone to simply accept something should not be the end of line. Explaining why or how they are wrong, on the other hand, could see such resolution. I'd hardly say I'm obsessed with it. But as you say, it's the working metric by which things are expressed. Being contrarian and expressing things in Metric isn't going to help anyone. But I could certainly see Metric being useful for many fields, and that being plenty of reason to learn it as a second (or first) nature.
  9. I'd take this approach. Misaki is the only Master I have multiple games and games of experience with, although I have no experience with any sort of competition. It rightly wouldn't matter who I picked if I was going to be in an environment with people trying much harder than I ever have Lol, I should pay attention to which section of the forums I wander into Dang recent post scroll. Why is Ophelia not one people like too much?
  10. Benefit 10T? It certainly seems to be better for Katanaka for the enemy to be in range, means they can snipe like they want to from range and really make a joke of things. But I agree it's more than likely referencing the model being hit.
  11. I hear that bro... wait, You actually meant penguins right, that wasn't a forum cuddle?
  12. Jeez, 16 feet?! Holy H*** is right, god and I've been playing on a 3'x3' board this whole time, how many stones are you running?!
  13. You're gross Do your shady dealings in dark alleys, not in broad daylight. The Oni lobby, kek. Although, it may also be based on what people think they want to see revealed. I have a feeling that squid-face thing is an object of mystery and allure for many players, regardless of which faction they may prefer, and since it didn't come out as the Resser's own Gorgon, perhaps people are hedging their bets with 10T now. Not that I'll argue, I'm all for 10T winning, I don't really care what we get, I know it'll be sweet. There isn't a Thunders Master I don't like, even that stupid Gremlin one .
  14. If they're Frozen Heart (I assume they have that rule, yea?), or generally cold aligned, what makes you feel they want to be warm? Wouldn't it make more sense to be the closest to their chosen source of power, rather than futilely fighting against it?
  15. When I read that sentence, I thought you were saying "I'll go with everyone else is a Gremlin." 4 new Gremlin Masters, the rest of you can frig off!
  16. That's harsh. I think they look kind of cool. They're like.. Angler fish, grotesquely alluring. Plus that one reminds me of Stimpy (Showing his butt off? Legit). I had to look up that word, but that's an interesting thing. I liked the part where it says they almost always have obscenely long grins on their face in an unnatural way. Unfortunately I don't think our girl here has that, but it's the part I thought sounded coolest in the story about those things .
  17. inb4 those squid-y tentacle things are just part of a very elaborate hat on that character like someone cut off a Gorgon's head and is wearing it like a mask.
  18. I hope at least one of the things in her box is Leonardo DeCaprio Uhhh what? Don't all Ressers already have an Upgrade to summon Mindless Zombies?
  19. I was actually watching Big Troubling In Little China yesterday, and considering we're all but assured the whole "reporter" thing for guild is a thing, I was really sad when I remembered that Gracie was already a character in Malifaux. It would have been so cool to have Gracie Law, although, I guess I'm glad she's not in Guild That movie is too freakin' funny. Oh, shit, I just thought of how could it would be to model a crew with Yan Lo as Lo Pan, and three Thunder Bros as the Three Storms (Or just apply one Storm to a few of the Ancestors if they have better matching Abilities maybe?) and have a Gremlin crew with the other characters. That'd be pretty damn cool. At this point I think I'm in the wrong thread Buuuuutttttttt AAAaaarrrrooonnn, you said it was baaalllaaannnceeeeddddddd. Naw, but really. Uh, honestly I'm just confused by this character. But I do think the Render turned out fairly well, I just don't really get the whole Nun thing. Although considering that half the reason I backed the most recent Raging Heroes kickstarter was for Nuns with Guns (Guuhhh, gorgeous models), so I can't say it escapes me entirely. But this Nun appears not to have a gun, so we'll have to see how that goes. I wonder if she's friends with McMourning
  20. True. But they could use qualifiers for it, like "Misses by X or more" (Because we're trying to hurt high Df targets more) or just declaring "if the target has a Df X or more" or something similar. Or just effects which are slightly dangerous to higher stats, like a zombie (Swarm?) with something like "Drag Down: While engaged with this model, treat all opposing model's Df as equal to this model's printed Df." Something like that, where they can effect the opponent or something, to variable effect depending on the opponent's Df. And has to deal with scattering while using that thing's Ability (Although many Ca don't I guess). I mean models do similar things already I suppose, like the Zombie Dogs, they give what, is that -1 Df? I still think "failing" triggers or effects are a viable option in the game, as long as they are not producing results everything else wants in the first place (Like automatic Slow, like you said, that would be a bit over the top).
  21. Without quoting specific messages (Since I'm late to the party), I just wanted to say a little 2¢. I know I disagree with a handful of things that @Fetid Strumpet believes (Namely Master influx), but I do think their notion of lower Df being exclusively worse is at least somewhat relevant. For the same reason they mentioned when replying to @Justin, which is, when you look at the game as "How quickly can I kill this" some of the defensive Abilities do swing things in favor of those models. But the volume of Abilities which forego the bottom line of damage in favor of fringe benefits (Paralyze and Slow, among a plethora), needs to be comparatively put next to such things, because they strongly effect the validity of models when faced with having lower Df. As a counter point, the number of models which can invalidate conditions such as that are far less frequent (As in to say, "Cannot be paralyze" or such), and something such as Save Face Upgrade from the Ten Thunders is an invaluable tool when utilizing a model like Ototo against those with Terror, knowing that he would struggle against Paralyze. But against similar "Issues" when not complimented by Misaki, Ototo could quickly be invalidated by his low Wp (almost directly a parallel for Df in all cases) despite his defensive Abilities. So while yes, I can value Ototo by way of being able to laugh off (No pun) damage and often stick in an ugly fight with his self-heal, likewise I can count on him to be reliably poor against those which ignore his "strength", when I'm not actively trying to supplement his deficiencies. So while the question of Df (Or Wp) vs Abilities which supplement them is relevant, and I agree with @Justin that at a certain point they break cover the deficiency, however that coverage of deficiency are often not all inclusive, which leaves them open to more than just plain Df // Wp would, if they could avoid being hit at all. Thus, the issue that needs to be examined is not simply stat lines (Which realistically seems to be @Justin's core point), but a more holistic look at what could combat the various key "strengths" of models. Which is often where models come out on top, for with reliable Slow or Paralyzes or, when dealing with damage the Ability to ignore typical defense Abilities while hitting reliably. Conversely, models which deal with such status effects are often valued highly as well (Which high Df // Wp do by default), due to a unique niche they can fulfill in dealing with those issues, which would be one of the reasons a Witchling Stalker is hard to invalidate as a 4ss model (They are 4ss, maybe 5? Cheap with a useful tool, either way). And there are obviously other metrics the game measures as "useful as hell" such as Activation control (The recent topic of Rat-Engine), or awkward interactions that are unintended but not game breaking enough to demand errata (Like Papa-loco-in-a-box-buffing, or the likes). Granted I don't play competitively, nor am I a terribly great player, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Thinking about it, a unique way to punish higher Df (or Wp) models that may be useful, while not being terribly more powerful against the "lower Stat" models would be effects which apply on missing, such as an attack doing 2/3/4, but on missing applying Slow or such. Basically creating a dichotomy where missing is not strictly the best outcome for the defending model.
  22. But I'm not wrong about the Obsidian Oni, am I? They literally had to paste the word "oni" onto it's name so everyone knows it's an Oni, 'cause it isn't one of those "Folk lore" inspired ones. Unless they just didn't like the traditional name for that what ever it is, or something? Also, never heard of that Harionago, but that sounds way more like the demon I referenced from Inuyasha, "ensnaring men" and all that. Maybe they should just 10T (verb) the 10T (noun). Like when Misaki broke away from the Outcast to be the Master of a new Faction, they should just promote a new Tengu-Overlord and make him the leader of a sweet new Oni Faction™.
  23. That's such an ironic sentiment for you to say to a person professing a passion for the Ten Thunders, the literal every other faction faction. But yeah, I was assuming it's mostly because the Outcast themselves lack a strong "flavor" to distinguish them as... "something". So even if someone loved Outcast, it's nearly impossible to say what's coming, which, I guess, makes it hard to want something random from said Faction? It's like, a way harder "luck draw" than any other Faction, with most of the others you know what you're getting, at least vaguely. I know I'll end up finding something "oriental" once 10T is revealed, although I guess McCabe defies that mold pretty well. Interesting though
