  1. I agree Henchman shouldn't be compulsory. I want to run events but I do not want to be a Henchman.
  2. I don't know if this is flogging a dead horse, but here goes... The main issues I have with naming people in this way is it can essentially ruin this players chance of enjoying the game even if they didn't do anything wrong. People will assume they did and thus may shun them etc. However I also feel that people can't just ban people because they feel like it and the only way I can think of to make sure this doesn't happen is to keep it open. I don't know what the answer is, but hopefully one of you clever chaps do. I thought it was just best to raise my concerns.
  3. I completely agree with Tim. I think there is some confusion about what is intended. I don't think anyone is suggesting some formal council or similar. Making kai, doxey and David making the decisions is just keeping the status quo. They have control of the elements involved so have the final say what happens, just like a TO at their event. Formalising a body for making decisions seems hideous to me. Just talk to Craig about 9th ed.
  4. I think this is completely different and totally acceptable. I would prefer decisions to be open though.
  5. James makes an extremely good point about publicly shaming people. It destroys lives. However this also denies the ability for me to actually vote with my feet. I won't know if someone has been banned. It is also true as others have already said that this has no legitimate power. I would say that the point of this was not to pass judgement but simply to influence those involved, here and in the future. Mike also has the right of it that due to the rules given before he has the power to ban players from the masters for bad bo etc. However I would suggest that this would actually function like the Queens powers, public uproar would simply over rule the decision. At the end of the day if both parties keep this secret there is nothing anyone can do, but if players are banned for what is seemed as suspect reasons (I guess Kai makes the decision) then I personally would like Kai to not allow the results in the rankings (it is treated as an invitational).
  6. I can definitely understand your points Craig, but I think the difficulties arrive when you need to establish a line between those who have had many complaints about them and personal bias. Perhaps if someone has been removed or reported in an event before then fair enough but otherwise I cannot in good conscience let this act as a precedent.
  7. The sad thing is I can probably guess who is involved without names. We all have flaws. I have many. However it is our responsibility to look for the best in others and not blame people for our games not being as enjoyable as they could be. Wargames almost always require 2 people. The difference in approach you find from gamers is a big part of what makes tournament games so exciting. This difference is what also causes conflict. It is the responsibility of both players to try and meet in the middle ground and understand how the other player acts from their point of view. This is an ideal. I am well aware. I know for some it is difficult to reach that middle ground. For some they are already trying very hard to be more accepting and basically don't have any more room to budge. At that point we are bound to find people who don't like playing each other and, to be honest, that makes me really sad. However, though this conflict is inevitable I would hate for one person not to recognise that 1. It's partly their fault or 2. That everyone else will not enjoy playing them. Therefore I think that this sort of banning should be out of the question without a great deal of supporting evidence (basically an exception and not a rule). At the end of the day if the shoe was on the other foot, would this henchman be happy having been denied the opportunity to show they are a good person and enjoy their games? I doubt it.
  8. This is really sad but that's a nice and clear intro post, I like it. I can't make that one unfortunately but I hope everyone has a good time

  10. Unfortunately it turns out we have already booked a holiday so I can't make it
  11. To be honest I can see the concern about the faction thing. Personally it doesn't make any odds to me, but I can see why others would be concerned. What does each player needing to bring a different faction actually bring? Personally I'm pretty confident that any faction can play any faction (it'd be pretty rubbish game otherwise). What strategy can you actually think for fielding x against y if they are actually fielding the whole faction and can pick any crew from there? At the moment it kind of feels like this is the choice because it's a way of defining the players without any other information. As any alternative you could do, say, fixed master. This can mean that there is a bit more decision making in the team stage and allow for more flexibility for people teaming up. I will still probably attend regardless and I think it looks like great fun, just trying to help EDIT: Damn this was hard to word correctly
  12. For those coming, I would appreciate knowing your Master please.
  13. Jen and I had a fantastic time. Thanks for running and our opponents for the wonderful games. We know we need to get faster, but hopefully by next year we will have more practice in :-D
  14. We are now up to 10 paid and 12 confirmed as attending. I have only got the rules for up to 18 players at the moment. I need to know If it's going to be more than that before the 11th, so if you're interested in coming please let me know.
  15. As long as I haven't left them somewhere you can use mine if you like
  16. Yeh. Had a great day. Nice chill atmosphere. Thanks all
  17. unfortunately a fair amount of competition on that weekend for events, but interested
  18. To be honest I don't know why you would even want to play part of the band, you can do pretty much that anyway in a normal game
