  1. Please don't use him/her, she/he, one, (S)he, hir, or anything like those. They make it clunky and distracting, disturbing what is otherwise an enjoyable read. She is fine, as is he. Unless you are talking specifically about a male or female, it shouldn't matter which you use. (The above is my opinion and may not reflect yours)
  2. 1. That was the inspiration for Zoraida! I like her even more now. 2. I too have been roofied. It has nothing to do with the gaming culture. 3. My soapbox is probably punctuation. Without it you: A. have people cross stitching their wife's hobbies B. learn that barbie girls are taught to expect sexualization.
  3. Point 1. Gremlins are the good faction. Point 2. I'd love to see a Gremlin model named Guy Faux. It's a play on Gremlin intelligence (with them thinking its pronounced Fawkes or fox) on history, and on my forum name. That model l should probably be a male, due to the name and reference, but I wouldn't be offended if it were female, no matter the body type.
  4. That's what... I think you know the rest.
  5. Make them fast before you do it. http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/93825-tara-pull-the-void-w-glimpse-the-void-trigger-echoes-of-the-void/ At least that's what I got from a simple Google search. Edit, oh yeah, and as solkan pointed out, faces is friendly. Echoes is for enemies.
  6. I do like the Resurrectionist, Nicodem is possibly tied for favorite caster! I haven't played Molly yet though, I'll look into her.
  7. I like it and appreciate the work you guys/girls do for us. I'm particularly happy to see the obey ruling come out.
  8. Upgrade Cost 0 Not Again. Restrictions: this upgrad is automatically included in all games and is not attached to a model. zFiend gains chatty zFiend gains the following tactical action (1) That's what she said When a model within 36" performs a (2) interact action for Deliver a message, zFiend is placed in base contact with the targeted master and that (2) interact action fails. If zFiend is buried at the time the interact action is declared, zFiend immediately unburied in base contact with the target master. If zFiend is not in play (other than while buried) he is immediately summoned in base contact with target master and all models in play gain the "who summoned zFiend" condition (immunities do not apply): who summoned zFiend: this model must move to a new table until the end of the current round. New Schemes are drawn for this round. It's a bit long, but I'm not a game designer.
  9. You should have one from me that is neither Arcanist nor Neverborne.
  10. I didn't even realize it was spam, but your post made me look at the join dates... Odd However, anyone know if those paints are any good?
  11. It's why I use the one squatting and stirring a kettle. It hides some of the hag sag.
  12. You're running a Gremlin Guy tourney? I'm flattered! On a serious note I checked thinking Ratty would have created something, but didn't find anything. Here is the long to the GG files if you don't have it. http://wyrd-games.net/community/files/file/52-gaining-grounds/
  13. Kadeton, I agree with much of what you say, especially about it coming down to a clarification. Clarification would show the intent of the rule, and that is something I can not presume to know. However, this part of your post (see below) I think I've found an answer to: Kadeton wrote "The question is whether allegiance (enemy or friendly) is conveyed to caused actions, when all other effects are not. There is no clear rule to reference for this - it will come down to a clarification. Either way has significant implications if the clarification is expressed in general terms." Since I only have the small rulebook I'm using that, but I will quote it directly and completly, with exception to my own typos, as much as it pains me to do so using a tablet. Pg 23, friendly and enemy call out box: "Friendly and Enemy Some rules reference friendly or enemy models. From a mechanical standpoint, friendly models are any models that are on the same Crew as the model the rule is affecting. Enemy models are any model that isn't on the same Crew. If a rule does not specifically state that it only affects friendly or enemy models (for instance legal targets for an attack) then it can and does affect any model. When a modle's Actions are controlled by the opponent (for instance with the Obey Action) the model does not change which models are considered friendly, its friends are still its friends." Allegiance does not appear to regard actions at all, only models (although this thread has taught me that it's very hard not to describe an action that a friendly model takes as a friendly action) As for the actions causing actions argument, it does not say that actions caused by actions are part of the original action. It states that the orriginal action isnt resolved until the new action is resolved. This specifically states that the new action is both a new action, and another action (another being not the same action). I too will bow out now since all I could add would be to repeat that: 1) Obey causes a model to perform a (1) action, and does not move a model. 2) the action may be declared as a (1) Walk action 3) the model taking the (1) Walk action is friendly to itself. Overall I have enjoyed this discussion, have learned a lot of rules interactions from this thread and while researching for this thread, and I appreciate the opposing views posted by you and Rgarbonzo. Cheers, GG

  15. And none of the above makes the 1 walk action an action taken by an enemy model, which is what laugh off protects against. However, I will just agree to disagree with you on this.
  16. A lot has been posted since I went to sleep last night I've copied and pasted some the posts I wanted to respond to. I couldn't get them all though. Ludvig posted: The problem with the fluff is that anyone can argue that Sidir just laughs it off and say "Sidir hears ya! Sidir don't care!" The other argument is very compelling though. Response: Fortunately, my fluff also matches up with the rules Sidir does not have an ability that reads "This model cannot be compelled to make (1) walk actions by the actions or abilities of other models" Trikk posted: Its not a friendly action as no friendly model decides where I go. The opponent does. Wouldn`t call that a friendly action. Response: That's not how you determine friendly and enemy. Pg 23 callout box small rulebook "When a models Actions are controlled by the opponent (for instance with the Obey Action) the model does not change which models are considered friendly, its friends are still its friends." Friendly models don't perform enemy actions. Tbh, I don't think there is such a thing as a friendly or enemy action. Jonahmaul posted: I am also of the opinion that Sidir would hear the voice and say 'don't think so cowbag'. It's still an enemy action (Obey) that is causing them to take a (1) Wk action and so is attempting to move them. Response: You are semi correct. An action performed by an enemy model caused them to take a (1) walk action. Then the friendly model (models are friendly to themselves) took the (1) walk action, causing it to move. Move is caused by an action performed by a friendly model. Trikk posted: I totally disagree. Sidir would never call someone 'cowbag' :< Response: I totally agree with you here. You win the thread. Fetidstrumpet posted: Is it an enemy action affecting sidir? Yes Is the enemy action causing sidir to take a walk action? Yes Is the enemy player controlling the walk action? Yes Response: You forgot a couple of questions: Is Sidir taking the walk action? Yes Is Sidir friendly to himself? Yes Jonahmaul posted: The action that caused Sidir to take a walk is 'chosen and controlled by this model's controller'. Therefore it's not a Walk action that is causing Sidir to walk, it's the Obey action. Response: Again, the text of obey does not cause any movement or a push. It causes a (1) action. The model who obey is cast on, is taking that action so it is a friendly action. Trikk posted: Performed or controlled? If I Obey your model and shoot your other model its a friendly action by your standards. Response: Semi correct. It's an action taken by a friendly model. Trikk Posted: If controlled then we go to the point of: who decides where Sidir goes? The caster of the Obey. So am I being moved by a action controlled by a friendly model? Nope, the caster controls where and how far I go, so its a move controlled by an enemy model. Response: incorrect. The friendly model takes the action. It is controlled by your opponent (who is hopefully friendly as a person). Trikk posted: I think interpreting that as: Sidir cannot be moved if the enemy decides where and how far he goes. Plain and simple. Solves a lot of problems and is antiloopholish. Response: You can play it that way if you want to, but that's not how it's written. Also, I don't see a loophole, I see a tactic and a weakness. GG
  17. Simple enough. Obey doesn't move or push. It causes a model to take a (1) action. If that action is walk, it is not an enemy action, it is a friendly action, completed by a friendly model. Consider Frame for Murder The scheming player notes one of her own non-Peon models as the "sucker." If the chosen "sucker" model is Killed or Sacrificed by an enemy model, score 1 VP. If the enemy model was a Master or Henchman, score 2 VP instead. As soon as this Scheme is accomplished, reveal it. If it was accomplished before Turn 4, score 1 additional VP. This Scheme may not be revealed at the start of the game. If I obey your model to kill my sucker, an enemy model has killed my sucker and I get the points. This is because it is the enemy models (1) action killed my guy. Obey is written differently than, say, Lure. Lure pushes a model its walk (I think). It directly moves the model. Lure is stopped by Laugh Off because of this.
  18. Do you have the wording for laugh off? I do not so I am operating under the assumption it is something like model can't be moved by an enemy action.
  19. Maybe its my familiarity with other systems that's kicking in here, but I don't think Laugh off would work against obey. Here is my reasoning: Does obey move a model? Answer:No So what happens when obey is cast assuming it's successful? (Here is a fluffy answer): Zoraida whispers into Sidir's mind 'come closer.' Sidir thinks to himself 'hey, that's a wonderful idea.' Sidir then takes a walk action. Obey didn't move Sidir, obey caused him to take a one action. Sidir took that action, which was a walk.
  20. My favorite video game was probably fallout, new vegas. The character type didn't really matter, eventually I used a lot of different builds. I believe my first build was a scientist/engineer build with lasers for weapons. For mmorpgs I've played EQ (enchanter), WoW (all of them, but I liked the healing shaman and the corruption warlock the most. Pen and paper RPGs: Shadow run is my favorite. I tend to play a physical adept (fast), or a fomori (troll variant) bear shaman (hard to kill). I have more experience with D&D though and my favorite characters where a half-farspawn totemist (2-4 tentacle attacks, 2 gorrilon arm attacks, a bite,a sword, and a shield) and a shadow creature catfolk warlock. Other wargames: in war machine/ Hordes I play trolls. That's my competitive game, so I play what will work the best at the moment (Calandra EE is causing a few tears at the moment). Fluffwise I really like epic Doomshaper, but I'm not a fan of his play style or his theme list (and I really like theme list). If I were to play 40k, it would be tyranyds. Mainly because I dislike box shaped vehicles. There is another faction with vehicles that aren't shaped like the Nissan cube I drive, so I could play those, but the Tyranids look cooler to me.
  21. Looking good! I think I figured out why it looks like flooding more than fire. Fire, and the resulting smoke, go up faster than down. So there tends to be more damage at the tops of structures (or they're gone entirely as is the case with yours) than towards the bottom. Flood damage is the opposite, as the water, silt, and mud fill up to a level, and then lower over time. Consider the these two images: Aside from the missing parts, your building appears to be more damaged toward the bottom. All that said, it looks great!
  22. Can't wait to see how the mine entrance turns out.
  23. That would be cool. I'd feel dirty putting zoraida up there though.
