  1. As most people said, it mainly depends on your painting style. However, you can experiment with different styles if you're interested to do so. I use almost always white primer because black darkens tints and I usually prefer laying down very very thin layers of paint. Doing so, 90% of times I build up my highlights, midtones and shades from light to dark, which is not so straightforward in the beginning. The advantage of black is that recesses are already dark, while when you prime with light colors, this is not true and you have to keep attention to this aspect otherwise the model could appear 'messy' in how it is illuminated. Another aspect to consider when basecoating on a white primer is that dark colors need more thin layers to appear uniform and smooth. If you don't thin, the final result will appear ragged (and ugly). If you don't lay down enough layers, you won't obtain an uniform coat and you will see white throuh it. For this reasons I think white is less forgiving than black.
  2. Ciao! I hope you'll enjoy either the game and wyrd's awesome models! A special thanks goes to Rubbe, the italian malifaux-spreader Keep it going bro!
  3. Hi everyone, I need a clarification on how the presence of TN affects defender's card flipping in an opposed duel. In the manual, I read about TN in step "5. Determining Success", so what I got is: "In every case, during an opposed duel, either the attacking model and the defending model flip a card. Then, during step 5, if the attacking model cannot manage to beat the TN, the action fails." Is it correct or the dynamics are like old 1.5 casting actions? thank you
  4. I can understand you. I used to play Hordes too, I had a metal Legion of Everblight Hordes collection (from 1st edition) and my girlfriend replied me the same as your wife did, when I told her I discovered Wyrd and Malifaux. After some time I decided to sell my Legion of Everblight collection and get into Malifaux. The fluff is awesome, models too and there's a really good community, just look at how people are involved in M2E beta... it's awesome. By the way... even though dice don't hate me, I hate them! I find there's less strategy on dice roll vs cheating fate with cards from your hand. Malifaux is really really cheap compared to many other games and since you play with less models, you can spend more time in modeling and painting (if you like the hobby).

    New Maps

As dgraz said, you can make your own maps. Vassal includes a map editor with plenty of choices. Just start a game with a blank map, open Objects pane and then view the Terrain tab. Then you'll have two level of choices like [ Topography, Desert Hills ], [ Topography, Grass Cliff ], [ Scatter, Rocks ], ...
  6. Ototo's base is really awesome. I agree with nagash, real wood will always look better than painted one. About the model, try to thin your paint a bit more. You should be able to add more layers without the mud effect.
  7. Remaining on PP models, some warjacks are good alternarive look for some M&SU or Guild constructs.
  8. Benvenuto! Where do you live in Italy?
  9. Wow, I really like golds and how they feel with her armour. Is it NMM? I can't figure out.
  10. Really nice model. I like the overall feel that your palette give.
  11. Hi guys. After a long break I'm back painting (Yay!) and I want to share my progresses with you. Feedback and critiques are welcome! Let's start with Ramos. Green pants will be darker, that's the mid-highlight colour. I hope you like it. Cheers! :Smug_Puppet1:
  12. I really like the final effect. Paint is neat and colors give the right feeling of plague and decay thanks for sharing
