  1. You've started editing out a lot of the drunken ramblings though. Surely 50% of the hosts and guests being sober counts as a sober podcast?
  2. I'm trying to give the TSR boys a shove
  3. I think that's the argument we're having Casting stats say one thing and description suggests another. Who will win? Join us in the ring to find out! I'm curious to know how TO's and Henchmen call it. Never actually used it in a game where the issue of counterspell has came up but I can see it happening at some point. ---------- Post added at 10:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 AM ---------- My biggest problem with it being ruled as being able to be counterspelled is that the target isn't selected until after the spell has been successfully cast. :S
  4. But it doesn't have a resist and the spell itself only mentions making the strikes against a single target. As it reads surely that means the spell doesnt target anyone but the strikes themselves, which are resolved separately, do instead. In other words the spell itself is just like casting a spell to get an extra melee/ranged action. You cast the spell on yourself and if you cast succesfully you get the extra action at the cost of -2cb and only being able to use it on the same target. Nothing at all is cast at the target of the strikes. ---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:43 PM ---------- After rereading the minirules book I can see where confusion might come into it. The spell itself isn't resisted so it's a simple duel to cast and doesn't have , or so it's not an attack spell as defined by p50. It isn't specifically cast on the judge though as it's range isnt c but instead the new range for the melee/ranged attack which suggests it might be cast on the target. The thing is the description says that after succesfully casting it you immediately make the strikes on a target within range of the spell which suggests the strikes are not part of the spell and going with the wording if you do indeed need to cast it at someone then you don't need to strike the model you targeted with the spell just as long as both strikes hit the one target. It looks to me that theyve tried to include the range to emphasise the melee strike can reach 8inches but not really pointed out who the spell is actually cast on. Curious to find any previous rulings on it
  5. As I understand it (1)the hit's aren't spells so counterspell wouldn't work against it at that range as they are specifically defined as strikes in the description (2)the sword strike is still a melee strike so bulletproof wouldn't work. That's how I've played it anyway.
  6. The colour scheme on Lucius is making me think of Superman every time I see him
  7. In all honesty I'm still trying to get my head around how a spirit can possibly have an Object trait.
  8. That's the Viks box set finished off. I hope he likes them. There were plenty of times where I thought I was just going to mess them up completely but I think I manged to salvage them in the end
  9. Been very slow round here for the last few weeks. I managed to finish off Francois though so thats me up to speed with the gremlins I've started so I can finally get around to finishing off the Viks. I don't know if it's because he is so plain but I didn't really enjoy painting him. Lots of character but it missed something and I think thats what made it take so long to paint. I just didn't have the urge to finish him. I'd better get my backside in gear though as my painting queue is filling up fast with the kids Christmas purchases!
  10. Can't answer #2 and #3 but this was mostly done with an airbrush http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?36767-Mollyfaux-The-Beginnering&highlight=molly+sholto
  11. To be honest a lot of the players in our area end up trying new crews or fluffy lists at tournaments just for the laugh. Playing against each other though we usually end up telling each other what we're bringing to the table a few days in advance no matter how good/bad it is
  12. Perfectly situated for any east-coasters that want to come through as well!
  13. Should I drop my CV in before I head home afterwards?
  14. *Currently looking out my sgian-dubh then heading down to the border...*
  15. I havent actually tried him with an Austringer yet though it is on my list. It's the one part I think I'm missing and I can see why at 15ss that would work.
  16. My experience of this so far has been a bit meh. Right up until you throw Lady J forward your opponent basically tries to stay well out of range. It's enough of a threat that it slows most crews down a little until you commit her. Once you do though unless she has support in place very quickly she doesn't last very long. In fact I think I've only had her survive two games out of six and with those she was down at roughly three wounds left. I'm convinced with larger games it would work fantastically but anything 25-30ss or there abouts just doesn't have a strong enough crew to run Lucius with Lady J and win. Unless you take lots of low cost models all it takes is for you to lose your biggest minion and your done for. It does make for brutal and short games though. Once I'd worked out how to use him I've not had a game last longer than 60 minutes I don't think with them averaging out at about 45 mins. One or both masters is usually dead by round 2 and neither side has soulstones left by this point. I haven't tried any of the strategies or schemes where I need to sit back and defend though.
  17. This one does it apparently ... http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/templates/content_lookup.jsp?content=/bq/stores/store_finder_store_result.jsp&SearchStr=Ludgershall%2C+Andover%2C+Hampshire&orig_url=&StoreId=ESH182&menu=storefinder&noleftnav=false
  18. I thought it was miscast as well until I realised after painting that looked like another bit of hair to me. I'll see if I can get a photo of it *edit* Here we go... It doesn't fit in perfectly I don't think but it looks better than any green stuff work I'm capable off.
  19. Seriously. If this is how 'bad' your memory gets after this time then mine is worse than I thought. I wrote mine a few days after the event and it has less detail that this! A grudgingly good read though
  20. Last night's attempt was Johan. I've been trying to get this one finished for a while but just not had the time to get past the base layers. The colour scheme on the box reminded me of the very first wood elves that I painted. I think they were the first plastic ones that GW produced and they were horrendous but my colour scheme was almost exactly the same! When I took the photo I new I hadn't finished off the base but after looking at it yet again I'm finding a few things to tidy up such as the hammer handle around the fingers.
  21. Cheers I do need to sort out a decent back ground for the models. The focus issue in this case was mostly that the table was set up in the one part of the room that had almost no light so I couldn't actually see through the viewfinder to focus properly. Had to rely on the flash to light them up. The depth of field was off as well as to take it handheld I had to open the aperture right up
  22. I started on the Ophelia box. Apologies for the bad photo, didn't have any decent lights so focusing was a nightmare. I've had the bases finished for over a week now and this is the first model/s I've managed to actually get done since then to put on them! It's reminded my why I like painting Space Orks and that maybe I should dig a few out from my 'box where models go to die' to practice on before doing any more of the gremlins
