  1. Like wise, with the wife taking a year out from work I will hopefully be able to travel to more tournaments in 2015 have even struck a deal with the boss (both home and work) to go to more weekend events. Will defo keep an eye on this.
  2. Hi, still definately interested in attending this event only hiccup I for see is due to the train I wont be able to arrive untill 5 or 10 minutes before the first round. As long as this dosnt prove a problem ill happily come along
  3. Hi, unfortunately I wont be able to make this as it is a couple of days before my wife's due date. So as you can understand she is having non of it lol. Am gutted though as would love to play faux back in my homeland. Hope you have a great even and will defo be back the following year for it
  4. F**k me cant believe this is next weekend. That has crept up way to quickly. Have played one game since MCC lol. Unfortunately I wont be drinking at this event for several reasons but really looking forward to it
  5. Man those torakage are beautiful. I love how you have kept the traditional yellow but managed to make them dark and sinister. Really good use of colour there
  6. Wow EVB long time no see. Glad to see you are improving your painting constantly:) alot quicker than me unfortunately great work and loving your gremlins
  7. Definately a fan of the purple you added in there and the highlighting on the ice gives it the feel of light emanating from with in. Great job My only criticism is the highlights on the trousers are a bit to stark for my liking. Look foreward to seeing more of your works
  8. Try adding some greys to your highlights. I did this on my dead just coffins and found it gives a nice weathered look. I would attach a link/pic but cant as in on my phone appolagies
  9. Ive checked kensei and bushido minis and none of them do it for me. I quite like the plastic ikyrio its the rest of the crew i dislike I may just end up using the avatar and converting it slightly, then buy the new plastic avatar?
  10. I agree the new kirai is a let down for me. I am currently on the hunt for an ikyrio proxy. The old one seems a bit small for a 50mm base lol. Not managed to find one but found a few really nice shikome proxies to add to the collection
  11. Really nice style of painting there and very unique. Great use of colours and very vivid due to your extreme shadowing and highlights. To say you have been painting a year makes me hate you even more
  12. That is the best looking kill hoy i have seen (new sculpt) I was honestly not a fan of him untill i saw your take on him. Well done viruk he is mighty impressive
  13. Or get your self out to afgahnastan for a kick as selfie
  14. I would love to see your take on the show girls. They are fantastic models and painted a crew up for a friend. Some of my best work in my own opinion. So would love to see how you do them
  15. Very pretty :)although i would have done the belly yellow and paler with the back scales blue. Purely out of personal preference. Fantastic model though and very visually stunning
  16. Alot of my bases are done with models glued into position and is easily done. Depends on the style you want. Once you know how you want your base to look let me know and ill help as best i can
  17. Yea i wash it out every so often. I might try some anti bacterial soap to delay the process? I have some lying around
  18. I have my paper folded around the edges of the sponge into the water with kitchen towel between the paper and sponge. This helps keep the paint nice and damp. Ive been able to go back after several days and reuse paint. Like mako the paint tends to spread a little over time bit is still easily usable. I guess there is nothing i can do to stop the mould from long term build up? Its just annoying that i need to redo my pallet after a prolonged gap (2 weeks or so) with out use
  19. Not sure if i am the only one who has encountered this problem or how it has occurred? Basically i don't use my wet pallet too often for various reasons but it keeps getting mouldy. IM not sure wether it is from the pallet being dirty, the water because of lack of use or what. Just seeing if anyone knows of a solution to the problem at hand? Maybe some additive of some sort?
  20. Ill admit its good t be back. Ive really enjoyed painting the past few weeks since starting back into malifaux and really pushing my self creatively I had a look through my painting thread recently and am happy to say i have improved. Mainly thanks to yourself and all the other great painters on here for there added in put. Great little article there mako. Really interesting and im happy to say i did now some of the information in there already. Means i am learning slowly now you are obviously very busy, trying to sort a new job and settling down but if you are ever up for chatting paint or having a game etc let me know in a fellow York man myself (well Irish but live in York with my family) Thanks again for some words of wisdom
  21. Where abouts in the uk have you moved to mako? Ive recently got back into malifaux after leaving the hobby for various reasons. Glad to see you are still on the forums and as friendly and help full as ever. Look forward to your next article Oh and if you want to borrow some paints ill also lend you a few of my minis to 'practice on'
  22. I think you would definately need something other than a painted sand and few tufts of grass base. It will really understate your painting efforts. Have a browse of the forums for some ideas. IM thinking cobble stones would be good. You could have patches of the stones missing with a sand foundation to break them up a bit, or help get around some awkward areas where the models are glued to the base. the crew as a whole is looking fantastic though
  23. Haha not a problem, at least its good for someone
  24. I agree, everything about Vallejo is superior. I find it much nicer to work with. The GW reds aren't too bad to work with i guess. But that's about the sum of it. I quite like a few of the P3 colours. There coal black is a really nice one. Although there flesh wash is horrible unless you want to paint umpa lumpas lol
  25. @Mako what do you find yourself using deck tan for? I see you mention it alot these days. Is it for adding to a base colour for highlighting?
