  1. Personally, I'm inspired by concept art, and a communities interpretation of such....
  2. I was hoping to get to Gencon tomorrow, but it did not work out. My first and only Gencon was in Parkside, near Racine, so, I would be an older player. Yeah, I'll probably hit Games Plus in a couple of weeks. But I commute from the Northwest to NEIU, and know another student who lived in both Uptown, and Lakewiew . So I know that scene. Thx for the info
  3. It has been awhile since I have painted also. In the past, I used oil based paints on metal figures. With oil, base coating, and wet blending was much easier imho. You could also use subtractive methods... and shelac.... and a million years with dry times. The biggest change for me with acrylics on plastic is the viscosity. With water, it seems as though no matter how thin the paint is, the water just pools up, and it freaks me out. Thinner and oils did not do that so much, and seemed to cover easier. Anyway, it's taking me 4 coats for the base coat. But I'm timid.
  4. Haven't played yet, but when I get my first crew together, I'll probably crash Games Plus on a Tuesday. Just looked up Dice Dojo. That's right off the red line near Edgewater. That could be convenient. Have you been to both? Which is best for newbies?
  5. Haven't really. Saw Malifaux awhile back and it loooked interesting, so I went to the game store and was told that version 2 was a few months away. I put it on the sideline until now, and I want in.
  6. that Agrellan Earth looks nice, plus it's already painted. Great suggestion, if I can get a hold of it. Otherwise I'll go with what you and Clement suggested with model sand.
  7. Thanks everyone. My original plan was to just put some modeling sand down, and a couple of small rocks (kitty litter), to the base up to the little ridge of the base. This is my first miniature, and my first ever plastic miniature, in a long time. I wanted to keep it simple. But after mounting the Nurses, I noticed the detail of the high heels and the general small size of the feet. At this point, I just want the base to be flush. After looking around, I wish I would have gone for a stone floor look. I think i'll try some of the options graciously given above and try to remove the canine remains model, and go from there. I'm getting anxious to paint, though. Messing with those stilettos makes me anxious. To keep it simple, I would be happy a nice finished look, preferably a flush look, but I'm open.
  8. I've just finished glueing together the crew, Body of Evidence. I used plastic cement to attach the figures to the bases. I now regret it. I am at a loss on how to complete a decent base, since the models are literally welded on, and can't be removed. Any suggestions? Is it possible to cut the supplied bases, removing the lip, and go from there? Or am I looking for trouble. I do not have a lot of experience, and this is my 1st plastic miniature.
