My typical list is Vicks Ronin/Oirin (Utility) Librarian (Very Ram hungry) Lazorus (Not the best in a world of few constructs) Taylor (My kill all do all. Love this model) So I almost never play without 8ss. The lest is 5. Taylor is an auto include but I have a hard time finding a good mix of other models. The librarian is great for cost and ability but I always end up loosing the Vicky before I get to heal it. So I find that its just that much harder to SIS out of combat as it is to heal Vick before picekeaper or whatever it may be kills her.

Has anyone tried the arachnid swarm?

In general I kill minions till I feel safe in using the vicks to slaughter the rest. Activations have destroyed my crew before. However I tend to do better with them in shared Treasure and clamjump. But things like contain power and reconnoitre I major fail.

Recently I have started useing the Vicks and really have not had much luck. I have : Vicks Taylor Bishop Johan Ronin *3 Lazorus Von schill Librarian Specialist Traper Corpsman So my basic problems: a) My cash comes out of my heiring pool. I am almost always out activated. Minions are expensive which only makes a worse. C) Very little armour. My crews crumple against direct attacks. What models should I invest in and should I go for the Kiris Box set or no? This would be my first Arcanist crew so I have no models to exchange for strategies.

I don't think you can take a totem nd an effigy

The system is confusing. Its not that one master can hire another its that your leader is chosen. And you may bring an additional leader or get 10ss. The leaders must still fallow hiring rules so Vicky can ply hire Von S or the Grimlin.
