  1. I'd do a mostly (75% water/thinning medium) thinned gryphonne sepia on her skin & a 50/50 devlan mud on her coat. Should help cast more subdued shadows, then a light drybrush of your base color for the flesh & coat to highlight.
  2. It's really easy to sculpt one for her too, if you have some greenstuff it takes a low skill level.
  3. Had this come up today, we decided on a 25ss game, he chose Guild, I chose Outcasts, then we determined this game would be around a mine with diagonal deployment & built the terrain accordingly. THEN got Shared Supply Wagon strategy & then chose our deployment corners yada yada all the steps. Anywho, once we deployed we discovered a problem, by the way we'd set the terrain up together he had no avenues of moving his supply wagon into the center of the table because there were no gaps between terrain that were big enough for a 50mm base to fit through. To resolve the situation in the immediate, we agreed to just spread the largest couple gaps for him so it would fit, IMO if the terrain makes the strategies impossible then the terrain must be moved to accomodate, but what is the usual convention used by others for this.
  4. Any word on how this can be helped along? The malifaux player base where I'm at is small, but I know of a number of people around the country who either play or would like to but aren't close by.
  5. I've pinned every Malifaux model I've built that has more than 1 part to it, I've even taken to pinning warjacks as well. Mind you this is something I never really did much, mostly playing 40K it was never really neccessary for the armies & models I played. But I highly recommend it, in fact, once you get good enough at it, you can do it w/ a screw gun like I do lol.
  6. Hello all, I'm wanting to buy the following: Twisting Fates book Ortegas box Austringer (the one with the hat preferably) Elite Division box Guild guards
  7. I don't see why it wouldn't fit. It's got the creepy toy factor.
  8. Ok, my Guild is coming along nicely. Here's a group shot of everything that's ready to game now: Left to right (front): death marshal, death marshal, Lady J, death marshal, exorcist Left to right (middle): watcher, judge, executioner, Nino Ortega Back: Peacekeeper And now a up close of each: Tombstone vaulting Death Marshal Marshal at the ready Lady J Crouching Marshal Exorcist Watcher The Judge Executioner Nino Ortega Peacekeeper Lastly, the figs left to paint: Front row: Witchling Stalkers Back row (left to right): Samael, Sonnia, Sue
  9. Ok, so I decided on the cygnar heavy warjack plastic kit to use. Got it today since I don't have class on Wednesdays & put some work in on him. Here he is:
  10. For colors I go through alot of such as black, I prefer the cheap stuff from wal-mart which do just fine with a little thinning. I used to use enamels when I first started gaming as I had lots of them from models, but the drying time & how hard it is on brushes turned me off of it. I will say though that the coverage is good on the lighter colors & the precious metals are superior to acrylics IMHO.
  11. It's just easier to strip it. Although, depending on the amount of excess and the paint you used, here's what I do when this occurs sometimes (after all, I'm usually heating my paint, running outside w/ my models, spraying them in 30 degree weather and then running back inside): Set it on a box in front of my gas furnace on the floor so that the draft out the bottom of very hot air blows on it directly, if I let this sit w/ it on continuously for a couple hours it almost bakes it onto the metal and reduces or eliminates the issue.
  12. Very nice. Anyone I know? Oh, I've got a good proxy crew put together for the Sonnia Criid starter box in case someone needs the loaners. Just needs paint, but finishing my exorcist & nino are my top priorities.
  13. Making it an arachnid per se wouldn't be too hard w/ my bits box (though it's only got 6 limbs: 2 legs, 3 hands & a spear gun). Plus, it seems to me that cryx just looks too... demon possessed for a Guild construct while Cygnar has that nice semi-victorian/steampunk look that the Guild seems to have. I'll be at a bigger town tomorrow so I'll look at the game store there & see what they have in terms of warmachine stuff.
  14. I like the stats for the peacekeeper, but for some reason the model just doesn't do anything for me. Now, that being said, not having the model for exact sizing, I'd like to ask around here does anyone have any thoughts on which warmachine warjacks would work as a good base to build upon to make it? I was thinking maybe a cygnar light warjack but are those too small? Would a heavy warjack be better?
  15. Yeah, I dipped them in a clear satin to try & combat that old metal mini issue of chipping. I plan to hit them w/ a coat of matte when I get some more, I'm just out of it at the moment.
  16. Got these yesterday evening, been painting my rear off. First is the whole crew, as it is at the moment: Now Lady J Death Marshals Executioner And lastly, something really special, my own custom Judge, the only part he uses of the actual Judge model is the Long Arm C&C all very welcome. I'm not sure yet how to paint the bases, kinda torn between a greyish/wrought iron color scorched earth look or a yellowish desert. To bulk my Guild out & have the most options for drafting a crew I still have yet to paint: Sonnia, Samael, Exorcist, Sue, Watcher & Nino. I hope to maybe buy an Austringer soon as well as some witchlings.
  17. Anyone else had this situation come up? I realize they are not REQUIRED for game play purposes, but I'd prefer they have them as it's part of the models. What it is, the two whose coffins are seperate didn't come. I bought the box online as my FLGS doesn't stock malifaux regular & special orders are... slow.
  18. First is my Nino proxy Next is my Sonnia proxy Finally, my watcher proxy Next are my bases for my Guild figs (which should be arriving in the mail today) they're an assortment of headstones, both standing & broken & an abnormal cactus. Last of all, my two WiP terrain features A gallows: And a well
  19. So I'm among ranks of new converts. I have chosen the Guild mainly due to how great the Death Marshall models are. So I've got the following: Rulebook Lady J box Exorcist Executioner Sonnia Samael Nino Thoughts on good 35ss crews & strategy ideas? Whet about further models?
  20. Howdy all, JD out in the pacific northwest of Oregon. I've been invited to learn this game tomorrow, though I am already sold on the minis, especially the Guild. I've downloaded & been reading over the rulebook & I've ordered the Lady Justice boxed set, though I was wondering, if I do like this game & want to expand the minis I have, how do I get a preview of a figure's skills/abilities/etc BEFORE I buy it & read its card? I mean, speaking as a veteran 40K player, it doesn't make sense to me to buy a model without knowing if it's even useful in my army. I'd never buy a furioso dreadnought for a space wolf army for example, because I know already that it A) doesn't work w/ that army & what it's stats are because of the codex.
