  1. What Rancor said. Although you didn't mention how many soulstones you and your wife play, I would add a few non-construct models for Hoffman: Get the Lucius box... this way, you'll get Ryle (which can be awesome with Hoffman) and Lucius can bring his Guardsmen to help out Hoffman. Since most Hoffman strategies involve the Hoffman brick/block (grouping all the constructs together), Lucius would act as the 2nd unit that would deny your opponents direct access to objectives and areas (with Cordon).
  2. Hmm.. thanks for the tip.. I was just planning to buy the Viks to paint but that sounds really good though..
  3. All I'm saying... Seeing the Misaki box made me so happy that I might just skip buying the Viks crew (although I might still get the Viks blister). I'm still getting my Leve crew though...
  4. I won't use the Watcher as a cheap objective grabber.
  5. I'm thinking of running Lucius with Hoffman. Fortunately, as a 10 ss Minion, Lucius' restriction does not apply. Whether 1 Warden with Lucius is enough is the bigger question. I'll consider adding the Warden in my Lady J crews.
  6. David Tennant as Barty Crouch Jr as Seamus... it works..
  7. The Warden is catching up... Hmm.. the trend right now is get 2 Wardens. Now my question: is 1 Warden good enough in a scrap or do I need 2?
  8. Looks like the good ol' Peacekeeper is leading... Plus, apparently there's a card error for the Warden. Will have to hold off until WYRD fixes that. I also feel the pain of the price... a bit pricey for one..
  9. I'm sure the Governor's Secretary will get the naughty Gremlin quartered and hanged... LOL Thanks Ratty. I hope Wyrd would fix the cards for the unshipped Wardens.
  10. So.. I guess a follow up question: Is 2 Wardens = 1 Peacekeeper? is 10SS for 2 Wardens equal to 9 SS for 1 Peacekeeper with Hoffman? Would you use the Warden or the Peacekeeper with other Masters? It is getting more interesting.. hehehe..
  11. Since some have been receiving their pre-orders, I got a glimpse of the Warden model http://www.wyrd-games.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=6555 It looks like it's a single model for $18.00 MSRP. Comparing it to the Peacekeeper at $25.00 MSRP. So far, I have used up my minis budget (thanks to the Stormwall) and I only have room for around $30. My question is: Which Construct would you buy? The Warden or the Peacekeeper? A bit of a background: I have the C.Hoffman box and Ryle. That totals out my Construct crew. Sop does a 5SS $18.00 Warden beat the 9SS $25.00 Peacekeeper? Please provide reasons why you chose one over the other. Thanks!
  12. I'm glad that the Malifools churn out weekly episodes... it does fill the void left by the Aethervox and Cheated Fates Radio...
  13. I could see spamming Guild Guards (Guardsmen models) with Lucius... Can you just imagine the Cordon denial technique? you can pretty much deny access to objective markers and deployment zones.
  14. Whoa! So the Nightmare Tree is like PP's Battle Engines or Colossal? 120 mm base with 30 mm "hanged" Nathan and Eric? Coolness! It would look great as part of the Streets of Malifaux Terraclips... now if only we could get video footage of Ratty.. LOL
  15. I like the Angry Mob idea... kinda like the Guild Version of the Spider Swarm... LOL
  16. Depending on schemes and strategies I would switch out the Peacekeeper and Francisco. In place of Francisco, I'll put in the Guild Austringer.. you get range support and not worry about LOS. To fill up the Peacekeeper's 9 ss, I'll put in the Judge 7 ss - for Melee and some range and a Desperate Mercenary for an extra activation and a disposable minion to charge forward and tie up opponents. For some cheese, I'll put in Lucius 10ss and a Guild Guard in lieu of Francisco and Peacekeeper. Lucius can pop in Lady J or the Executioner in the middle of the board and the Guild Guard is a cool 4 ss minion.
  17. Hahaha... goes with the fluff... how about a special rule: IF the killed Honest Citizen is female, Seamus immediately summons a belle. LOL
  18. I know I know.. hehehe.. for now, we can just proxy/DIY but maybe some peeps in the know might see this and decide to make it..
  19. hello! I think this is even better than using a Soulstone to heal... plus it fits to the original theme of the Guild as healers..
  20. Not leaving Malifaux because I love the Stories, Characters and frankly the Podcasts... so yeah, even through my losses, I still look forward to the weekend and play more Malifaux.. Don't let the person in a golden mask behind me distract you... he is not threatening me to stay in Malifaux...
  21. From experience, when it comes to basic rules, abilities and spells, the errata (newest) takes precedence over the cards and then the rulebooks' stats. The FAQ clarifies how an ability is used (bury) or any clarifications as noted by WYRD and I'm guessing from the reports of the Henchmen. Now, Ratty's notes and Henchmen rulings are for situational concerns. So for example, during a tournament scrap, a clarification was requested by a player. The Henchman will reference the rules, cards, errata and FAQ. If these sources fail to provide a concrete solution, the Henchman would set the ruling (either by flipping on who gets what or by the henchman's interpretation of the rules) and for the rest of the scrap/tournament, that ruling stands until Wyrd releases an errata tackling that issue.
  22. Ah, the Seamus vs. Lady J learning game. I would echo some of the answers the others have provided. I'll start with just a strategy like claim jumper, destroy evidence... avoid reconnoiter. once you're comfortable, then include schemes and other variables (weather, terrain, Carver). When I was think about starting Malifaux, I was really looking into Seamus... unfortunately, I just watched 2 seasons of the Walking Dead and other zombie related media.. so I was kinda zombied out (plus, it doesn't help I also own Cryx from PP). So I ended up choosing Lady J for mechanics and obvious model attributes. Plus, she reminded me of that cgi girl from the Animatrix movies.
  23. Awesome podcast and perfect while painting my crews. keep up the great work!
