  1. It's not that hard to lose against straightforward teams, in fact those are some of your worst fights, because straightforward teams tend to deal a lot of damage, and the Viks are very, very, etc. frail. One of the things that's kicked my butt on numerous occasions has been patience, keeping my units together, and not letting the Viks get too far from everyone else. Make use of cover and keep your crew together, but not right next to each other, or you are going to get blown up.
  2. ...Or you could just make a melee attack, there's nothing to attack, so the attack cancels, causing the model 2 wounds. That said, it could/should be worded better, but I still don't believe it will come up often enough for it to matter, except in silly hypothetical situations.
  3. Actually, I had exactly the situation you describe. I was in melee with a steampunk abomination, wasn't too far from Leveticus, but decided that staying there was a bad idea, so I manifested, swung at the steampunk abom, and "OUR KILL!"d my Freikorpsmann who was in melee with an arachnid swarm, because the Viks were basically on their own. I ended up running Von Schill up into melee with a Guardian, murdered the arachnid swarm with the Viks, "OUR KILL!"d Von Schill, and murdered the Guardian. I could have killed Leveticus (technically his Stolen, as Lev had suicided), but then the Viks would have had to attack Taelor, and I really didn't want to begin cheating low cards. Lesson of the story: sometimes having the rest of your crew really far away is a good thing, especially if you are in a bad position.
  4. I've played a few games with the aViks and it hasn't been a problem, because I have made sure that I was always in a good position.... even if that involved hijinks like running Von Schill into melee instead of shooting.
  5. There's no interpretation to be had, you are reading two abilities as one. I quoted it word-for-word above.
  6. You have to hide from the entire crew or they are just going to switch places with the other model. Just how the heck do you intend on hiding from the Viks, who are amongst the most mobile masters in the game? They can chase down pretty much anyone. They have a ~20" threat radius, not including when they get fast from a student of conflict.
  7. How exactly are you going to hide from the entirety of your opponent's crew? The only way to force the Viks to manifest is to obey them, and obey's range isn't good enough to keep out of the 10" murder-radius of the Viks, reliably anyway 2" is very scary, nor is it long enough to stay out of the entire crew's range. Cripes, just having Von Schill in your crew makes it virtually impossible to keep away from them, he can chase down the Riders when they aren't fast, and then they "OUR KILL!" him. The card states: That's it, it's first action can still very well be "OUR KILL!", it will suffer 2 Wd, but that's the price you pay.
  8. There aren't too many things that can properly kite something as fast as aViks, Von Schill, the Riders, and a few others, but it's very easy to get someone else in melee with one of your opponent's slower units, and have the aViks cast "OUR KILL!".
  9. Meh, it's useful if I've suddenly found myself too spread out, and don't mind losing one of my lower-point cost minions, but I don't like losing the actions or wounds.
  10. Taelor can take hits better than Johan or Misaki can, so if the specialist blowing up is a problem (which it never really should be), then she is the answer.

  12. I would dearly like to take the hodgepodge effigy and Von Schill.
  13. The Hodgepodge Effigy is also one that would keep them from using the Freikorps, which is a shame because it's actually kinda cool.
  14. That is a completely legal crew. He's a mercenary, as is Killjoy, and the desperate mercenary.
  15. Nasty thing about people who can fly though: if they are on a scouting mission, and if they are smart, they will only fly if they think they have to. They can also hide in the clouds if they can get that much altitude, if not, they won't try it. That said: I think Z is working against the Tyrants, but I think that's because it's part of working for herself. I think the only way anyone is going to survive any of this, is if the humans and the neverborn work together (fat chance, because the humans are jerks, as is historically proven.... every day), but fighting each other until something bigger shows it's ugly mug is not a bad strategy, if part of that strategy is to not actually kill each other off, but to build bigger, better, with questionable ladies, and black jack.
  16. I didn't say that using fury was weak or risky, I said getting them into position so they can actually use it is risky. Basically: placement and usage of terrain is incredibly important with them. Like Kadeton said, if you manifest their avatar, you are probably already winning.
  17. I don't like that one of the triggers is whirlwind, it makes manifesting that much harder, just getting there, and using Fury is difficult/risky enough sometimes. Their avatar is one of those I probably wouldn't use frankly, it's a little weak in my opinion. I'm still getting it, in hopes that it will be good later, but for now it will probably just collect dust.
  18. No offense Rebecca, but you really don't get a choice in the matter on who the Viks can take, so it's always centered around mercenaries. Just putting that out there.
  19. Technically they already have ninjas anyway, Collette and her related figures are definitely ninjas if I ever saw them, and that's including the weird "I'm here, but I'm not here" nonsense.
  20. I always thought the Tyrants had started off as ordinary, if exceptional, individuals. Working their way from totems (everyone is at level 1 at some point) up to what they are now.
  21. No Librarian in the Viks list? You should try to put one in there.
