  1. Anyone know if Wyrd is working on a book 4? If so, feel free to post the link since my brief glance came up empty.
  2. We also have a small group (about 6 people, including our henchmen) that play in Colorado Springs at Castle Games. There sounds like one heck of a player base here!
  3. Okay, so tonight I plan on going up against the Rez faction (most likely nicodumb). What's the best master to take without worrying about the strategy? Would you take the exorcist with he master too? What do you guys think?
  4. Great advice guys. Though when it came down to the battle, I ended up going with the viks (I know, what was I thinking?) Here's a quick recap so I can get your thoughts on how it went... Me- Viks with avatar 2 Ronin 1 TTB 1 Trapper 1 Desperate merc Opponent- The hag Tater tots x5 I believe Desperate merc the giant queen nephlem (I forgot the name) Strategy was claim jump (shared). He took Body guard and Kill protege on the trapper. I had Body guard and nothing (so I could net 2 more SS). He did his obey tricks on the trapper to get rid of him, but before he could kill my poor guy off with the poison (he had the voodoo doll crap attached), I got my viks to kill him off and deny my opponent the VPs for Kill protege. A lot of moving around and obey actions on his part, but the highlight of the game was when I had a two mature nephlems, the queen nephlem, and another tot against my 1 vik (one died) and 1 ronin. I got my spell off to summon the other vik back, put up the avatar, and in 1 Melee swing, I was able to whirlwind bomb and kill off all of those models. Just 1 swing! I ended up losing, but we both were able to admit, if there had been another turn, I would have easily demolished him. Was a good game.
  5. Okay guys, I have a game coming up in the next 4 hours, and I'm 98% positive my opponent is going to be playing Zorida the hag. So my question is... What crew should I take to beat her?? I know the crew is dependent on the strategy, but I can do small modifications later, I need to know what is best to beat her? I read the wiki on how to beat her, but I can't think of any outcast crew! Help!
  6. aViks don't waste time...they end time! .....for their opponents.... To be honest, when I've done this in the past, I just replace the activated Vik and end the turn. In the book it states: -Somewhat spoilers- The viks freeze in the train station, with the Ronin's coming to save them. The viks THEN become possessed by the sword's powers. So if you look at it like that, you're no longer playing two viktorias. You're playing one spirit...the spirit of the Matisumaiahfnadskjfaha (I don't have the stuff to look up the name), the viks are just dolls in order for the sword to buttsecks everyone around it. Replace the activated Vik, remove the other (as she no longer exists but only physically) and your activation is over. Don't worry! You'll make your opponent cry next turn...
  7. Okay, so I want a 35ss samurai list (for the most part) and I was wondering if I could get some suggestions? Now, this isn't all straight up samurai, as most characters have some type of ranged weapon (pistol in this case), what I was think so far is... Viks 2 Ronin Misaki 2 TT brothers Thoughts?
  8. Not in the app store from what I can see, but what I do is use my phone's internet browser to go to malifaux.com and use the crew creator they have on their site under Resources. Bookmark it and there's your mobile 'app'
  9. Hi everyone! Before you continue, here's the disclaimer: I'm not a henchmen, so if there are specific rules that henchmen must follow in order to organize an event like the one I am about to discuss, I apologize for my lack of knowledge. That being said, I'd appreciate any helpful hints/tips/ideas/strategies that you all can come up with in order to make this happen. Here's the idea: With the few players in our group (we have about 6), we decided that after completing our first official league, we would try and move on from the beginners achievements, and move into something a lot more epic. Each player has his/her own Malifaux map, with their name starting at a specific point. Each week the henchmen of our group will text/email each of us specifically telling us of our objective for our next game. When our scheduled day comes around to play, we quickly go over what story elements have happened during the week and we find out who our opponent is. We battle for specific rewards (bag of SS to be used for our next game, VPs to add up to the league-end prizes, mercenary's loyalty in game, etc...). Now, my questions are...who do I go about contacting in order to make sure I'm able to print/laminate/distribute the Malifaux maps to our players? I know its on the website for free to download, but I just want to make sure that I don't get in trouble when I could do something simple in order to avoid it. Also, what elements do you all think would be interesting to add? We plan on having storyline encounters/random events etc.. being intervened in the league, but what else could we do to make this more fun? We're at about 6 players strong in our group, and we want to grow. If you all need more info, just ask and I'll try my best to answer, like I said earlier, I'm not the henchmen, but I'm trying to make his life easier and get more into the game, rather than just being a player. Thanks everyone! I haven't been here long, but I already love the Malifaux/Wyrd community, you guys are always so extremely nice
  10. Okay, I'm going through a phase where I think I may need to rethink my master decision. After some disappointing preformances from myself in games (see my self Viks QQ thread), maybe I'm just not using the right people for what I'm naturally adept to? In other games (MMORPGs such as WoW, CoH, etc...) I find myself as the person who can sneak around quite stealthily, and do immense, quick bursts of damage. In Malifaux, I find myself wanting to jump across the board and do heavy damage really quickly (which with the viks left me exposed and left the rest of my crew in the back.). So what do you think I should try? Why? If you have any questions/need any more info from me, I'll be happy to oblige. So far, I have tried the following masters: Viks (played the most, I love them, just not their resilience) Perdita (played maybe twice, I love her play style, but I took a basic crew of mainly family) Hamelin (Oh jeez, the most passively manipulating master ever, not my play style) Marcus and Rasputna (First masters I really tried, he didn't work well with me) Lady J (First master I played as my 'lets see if you like the idea of this game')
  11. I really appreciate the advice everyone, it definitely makes me feel better that there are people nice enough to want to help. A little more detail from the game-- Strategy- [shared] The one where we have to kill the other's master (I can't remember the name) My scheme- Kill protege on his Nino. It was a 50ss game, my partner and I each having 25ss, for reference, I had- Viks aViks (2) Ronin (5) Von Schill (9) Specialist (5) The first few turns I spent moving slowly up torwards the middle, using defensive stance with viks each turn (since that kept me from leaping forward like I have a problem doing), keeping the Ronin with them, I put Von Schill behind a building, using his nimble+2 AP to jump over a house, take a pot shot, then jump back over the house. I decided it was time to unleash the viks when I saw his 2 Watchers and the Witchling Handler attempt to sneak up on the side of my board where I was waiting, I slung my sword vik in there, whirlwind bombed the 2 watchers and the handler (which overall took my 2AP and Melee expert). But at that point, my partner (whom is natrually better at games) was already being taken out by Sonnia. The game ended with my aViks in melee combat with a 1Wd Perdita, and an aSonnia right next to me. ---------- Post added at 01:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:44 PM ---------- Oh, and an earlier suggestion of naming some other models I have. I have: Viks (avatar also, clearly) Ronin x3 Hans Friekorps box Student of Conflict A mass amount of Hamelin's crew since there's only a few of us playing, probably around 6 total. There's not a really strict rule of proxying, so occasionally I'll do that if I can find someone worth proxying.
  12. Okay, so maybe it's just me, but does anyone else have a problem with loosing with the Viks? I've probably played a total of 11 games with them, and have won a grand total of 2, both times were against BRAND NEW players... from what I've read, it's hard to loose against a straight forward team, but I do it consistantly somehow. It's kinda put a damper on my game and made me NOT want to play much anymore since I can't seem to do any of it right. Suggestions on ways to learn how to play the models without being horrible to loose so much? New master to try? Or should I just stop playing and collect the models (which I also can't pain, I'm just not good at that either)? Yes, this is a rant/frustration release/serious questioneer. So feel free to be brutally honest with me, I'm so dissappointed that I can't win simple games that anything that can be said, probably should. Last game played was a 2v1. Myself- Viks (with avatar), Ronin, Von Schill, Frekorps Specialist Partner- Pandora, Teddy, Doppelganger, Sorrow x3 Opponent- Sonnia+Perdita with too many models to name
