  1. The puppet decks are more durable, but everything goes into card protectors. It still protects better than nothing. Think of all of the playing cards that you have gone through over the years. The protectors (I use the heavier ones) are worth the price over the long run.
  2. Great job all. I thought I had a lot with with nine teddy puppets Ciaran. Thank you Lalochezia for getting everyone motivated to write up reports.
  3. I happen to like the hats too. Nice read on the game. Keep it up.
  4. Maybe Wyrd can pay in Teddys for good submissions.
  5. So I assume I will be required to use the same shoebox if I can make it? I am still making plans for this year... Vacation time is limited.
  6. I think I am going to have to go to a doll house store to look for some terrain. Great idea...
  7. More puppets would be nice, but that is just more to paint and I'm still working on my first 50+ puppets. I am more for the accessories ideas than the more puppets ideas. Although a special puppet (see my moving terrain comment below) would be cool. I like the event card idea. Maybe a moving piece of terrain (floating swamp gas bubble or crystal ball?) that moves around the board after each activation round to give some benefit or hindrance. It would be easy to do a random direction (hex board has six directions, cards have thirteen numbers, two numbers move in one direction and the number seven doesn't move) and a random number of spaces (like damage in Malifaux). Another favorite is different boards and token pieces. The original is a bit dark and I will eventually do my own board, but if I were to run an event, getting several extra boards would be nice.
  8. Wilkommen! My wife is German so I speak both languages. There are a lot of great board games from Germany. I am happy we can send one over the pond. I will be in Germany this summer. I'm just not sure when. I will be in both Northern and Central Germany. I might check around for PW while I am over there. No one mentioned that the Teddy's are mis-packs in about one in ten boosters. I got four at Gencon and ordered the five for Black Friday. I still have a lot of painting to do. I play too many games so my time is spread all over the place. I think you will enjoy the game. Multi-player is a blast. And as Ratty said, there player that seems to be ahead is the one that gets picked on by the other players. Read the forums, there is a lot of strategy and information.
  9. That was in my final game at GenCon. I ended up 2-1 that tournament. I got the stuffing beat out of me by a very good player who ended up 2-0-1. I used Marcus most of the time and won my share of games. I also a Rattler in one three-player game to shut down Vic with Tazed! Six activates before a seven.
  10. Best battle report I've ever read. Great job LFG! Reminds me of how Pokey Vic beat my Marcus at GenCon. I would really like to make it to Adepticon, but my son's friend is getting married that weekend so I don't think I will make it this year. I would like to do another con beside GenCon this year.
  11. I really like your ideas. They make the figures so unique. I also like to mod figures to look a little different. You do a much better job. I also use rare earth magnets for arms, tank skirts, weapons, etc. I haven't done any modifications to PW, other than the bases, yet. I am just trying to get them painted. I hate to paint my figures, I am not as patient with painting as with other things. I have a lot of paint on my most of my puppets, but still a long way to go in my opinion.
  12. I agree with all the above that it is a different game than Malifaux. Although I would not call it a beer and pretzels game (takes too long IMHO, especially with 3 or more players), it is a fun quick game that allows for a group to play a couple of games in an evening with different crews and set-up. It is not a repeat of the same thing each game. Set-up is a lot easier and takes less space than Malifaux as well. I have been gaming for over forty years and I consider it more of a board game than a miniatures game. I can think of several board games where I have used miniatures instead of simple (boring?) tokens. I think it is a great game to take a break from all of the hack and slash miniature games on the market. If you can find a demo in your area, take your significant other to see how it plays, as the girlfriends and wives seem to like it more than the miniatures games I mostly play.
  13. I think more than four players will be a bit tough, but is possible. You want a balanced board with neutral work benches spaced evenly between players. It uses a hex based board, so six players should fit a "hex-shaped" board (although you could play on squares). I think to play with more than four would require a larger board though. You would also not want to squeeze one player between two other players. I think ideally one player would be able to have a go at any other player. That must makes set-up harder. It would take longer, but I wonder if one would run out of puppets as this game has a very high puppet mortality rate. Since I've only played with a toybox, I can't say how many puppets are left in a larger multi-player game. Since you alternate movement actions, one player would not get too bored waiting for his/her turn. I think the flow of the game would be okay. Just make sure you have enough room for six players round the table/board. I would also expect more ties for who goes next. I would suggest you try it on a terraclips board to see how much space you really need. Please report back on the forums. Maybe Wyrd will try a large multi-player game at GenCon next year as a test. I have a large soft hex matte that I can use wet erase markers to draw stuff (we mostly use it for D&D or Battletech).
  14. I found no reason for the different colors, other than to play with one color base with unpainted models. If you glue the base to the model prior to priming, there will be no difference. Some players color the bottom band around the base the applicable color for the model suit. For instance, Rams is colored red, Crows green, Tomes blue, Masks purple and no suit as gold.
  15. I used colored beads at GenCon for exhausted tokens. Those worked great. I also did them for the round counters. I want to do something different for the other tokens, WBs, terrain, etc. I have a few ideas and will share them when I get around to making them happen. I was thinking of using some colored chips with the paper tokens glued on top. I need to find some small round tokens. Like I mentioned in another thread, LITKO makes a lot of tokens that can be used. There was someone at GenCon that was using them.
  16. It might be cool to have a random 'crew' for a tournament. It would make a person play outside of their comfort zone. I think I would randomize a crew before the tournament and then have the players use a randomized crew for at most one round. Of course I would have the cards, but they would have to proxy their crew for the random crew. I'm not sure if I would do that first or second round. I would require the same crew for later rounds, including multi-player. That sounds like fun to me. <evil grin>
  17. Lalo and Karn are the masters. Lalo taught me by playing against me until another player came along, then he went to help another demo board while still answering questions at our demo board. I think two player is the way to go and puppets of a different suit helps as well.
  18. It gets really annoying to kill off Bete when she keeps hiding under the bed. This ability only requires a card, not a :crows like one might think.
  19. I would like to point out that there are ways to remove counters. I like using Seamus bringing back Belles from the scrapheap and then getting rid of the counters. Zombie Chihuahua comes to mind, but there are other ways . It can get really frustrating to keep running in to Belles, especially when one had a lot of :crows in their hand.
  20. I'm only missing one teddy that I didnt' get at GenCon. From what I've heard, they are about 1 in 10 for boosters. The odds seem less at GenCon from the people that I checked with. I will have to get them painted up and use Marcus (insert evil grin here).
  21. I prime in white, gray and black. It depends on what I want. The foundation paints do make it easier to bring out bright colors, which is what I wanted for PW. I used gray as that is what I had, but black is my favorite. As said before, I believe black is best for the outlining between colors and to fill in those gaps. There are a lot of little holes that would have looked better using black primer instead of gray.
  22. Interesting, Perdita got very little campaigning but still finished second in the voting. That's my gal, as she got my vote.
  23. Great job! Nix I have several mostly done, but paint on about 20 or so. I have company in so it is harder to paint now. I also want to determine how to base my puppets after I already put them on the base.
  24. My first thought was to Lilith, but her abilities seem a lot like Pokey Vik (sword master and switch places with a figure). Anyway, it boils down to do we need more masters good at hand-to-hand or good at casting? Anyway, I voted, but not for my first impulse.
  25. I think Wyrd would run into the same problem with minis as they would with plushies. Which ones to release? My vote goes to doing them as puppets as they might be easier than the miniature figures. How about some 'stuffed animals'? ;P
