  1. Excellent. Skills are definitely the thing I was most curious about. My only concern now is how long we have to wait for it to come out, but I'm okay with "Christmas in the Summer"
  2. Will 2e have a conversion guide for 1e or a forum post that draws attention to the changes? In subtle edition changes, I feel I sometimes miss little things.
  3. I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but in order to for the Primal to use "Law of Meat", would they need to have Specialized Skill: Intimidate and Mask or Tome? Or am I missing some other way to add suits to a duel total?
  4. Ahhh. Brilliant. Very excited for it.
  5. Is this a reference to 2nd edition or a joke I'm too dense to get?
  6. On the home page for the forums, if you scroll to the very bottom, beneath "Other Games", there is a Super Secret Forum header and A Stitch in Time is in there... If you have access.
  7. I assumed that and felt silly for posting on the weekend, but at least I didn't refresh the page every 20 minutes... *shifty eyes*
  8. I just signed up yesterday, but I understand that it's done in batches so I assume I just need to keep waiting?
  9. Hello! I'm killing myself trying to find the area of effect for the Phantasm magia. I get that it has to be combined with an Immuto but none of them really seem to apply to Phantasm. So, how big can an illusion be? How much area can it cover? Point me in the right direction.
  10. @Aaron: Aaron, I love you, I really do. But you're such a teeeaaaseee... Also what are these 'sourcebooks' everyone is talking about? Is there some released product I don't yet own!?
  11. Hasn't been much activity on this thread in a while, but in hopes that someone notices... One line makes reference to miner's smelling of soulstone dust. In any of the books, has it described what soulstone smells like? It may have and I just missed it, but I have no clue what that might be like.
  12. That's what I thought, but it's written as Script throughout the Fatemaster's guide so I was getting confused.
  13. Thank you Wakshaani for your research and easy, "rule of thumb" system for prices. I am definitely going to make use of it for off the cuff pricing. Also, I've seen some discrepancy but is it Guild Scrip or Guild Script. T at the end or not?
  14. This is all so nice to hear. No company will ever make a perfectly balanced game, but to know the playing field is much more level than last edition is like offering free drugs to an addict. I already have Lady J, Seamus, Nicodemus, Rasputina, Pandora, and Levicitus from 1.5, now I just have to pick up...like, everyone else. That's okay though, I don't really need to eat or sleep.
  15. Good day, friends, I stopped playing Malifaux around 2 years ago, back when 1.5 was strong and 2nd was just barely a whisper. At the time, balance was not really a thing: Kirai, The Dreamer, and Hamelin walked as kings and queens and my favourites, Rasputina, Seamus, and Lady J, were oft considered some of the worst the game had to offer. In the past few days, something has had me itching to go back through the breach and begin playing and collecting again but I need to ask before I commit: Is balance better this edition? Can my lovely crews compete now or is the environment still uneven and rocky?
  16. Is anyone else having problems downloading it? I keep getting a 0 byte file.
  17. I could make it available as a Google doc you tell me how to do that...
  18. Exactly as you said, Forar. Clearly, it's looking at it in a vacuum but, yeah, I thought it would be an interesting read
  19. With all the Stubborn and Fear Not Death floating around The Guild, I think their defensive strength is supposed to be their Willpower. Plus, with so much ranged fire power throughout, they can take relatively easy advantage of cover.
  20. This is a great idea for a thread I'm honestly surprised to see Arcanists with the most high Df models. It's funny as this kind of reinforces my feelings on Df: when I see a 4, I think "Huh, average" but when I see a 5, I think it's decent. Anything above that always strikes me as "exceptional."
  21. I know it's taken forever but I finally added Avatars! I added the 36 new minions to my spreadsheet as well but they didn't have any impact on the averages. I'll get around to adding them if they have highs or lows later and I'll update the faction summaries. Wanted to get those avatars out of the way though
  22. Played a 2v2 game last night and we tried the Christmas scenario "The Krampus is Watching." Hooooly hell is that thing a beast. We played 30 soulstones and I was trying my new Pandora crew for the first time. I took 3 sorrows, Baby Kade, Candy and a stitched together, deployed in the South-West corner and took Bodyguard (Scheme). My teammate took Lilith, Lelu, Lilitu, a young nephilim and a mature nephilim and Holdout against the Perdita player (playing teams, we figured Holdout had to be against one other player, not the entire team.) He was in the North-East corner. Opponent one was Perdita in the North-West corner and took Santiago, Franciso, Nino and 2 witchling stalkers and also took Holdout, against me. His teammate was Ramos with a brass scorpion, a large steampunk arachnid, 3 steampunk arachnids and 3 union miners. I think. He had a ton of things on the board. He took Bodyguard (Ramos). I didn't take notes or anything so I'll mostly go over some highlights and observations. -Killed a large steampunk arachnid first turn just through it failing Wp duels. That was neat. -Having a crew member that can do healing flips is pretty awesome. -I am not very good with Pandora and she seems not very good against Ortegas (but who really is?) -When things get into melee with Pandora's crew, it gets ugly: Candy and a Sorrow both killed in one activation by a steampunk arachnid swarm. -A mature Nephilim landed with Santiago, Franciso, Nino and a Stalker within melee range. That is what ended up swinging the match in our favor. Black blood is awesome when it's on your team. -Nino missed said nephilim and killed Santiago, even after cheating. Huzzah! -Perdita obeyed a stitched together and used Gamble Your Life to kill Baby Kade before he did anything in the game. I hate Perdita so goddamn much. -The Krampus is a brute. Good damage, good chance of hitting and so hard to take down. We discovered direct wounds a la Pandora are probably the best bet. In the end, we killed the Krampus (we did all the wounds on in durign the entire match) and won 10-4 (or 8-4, technically). It's a fun mission and I would definitely suggest everyone who hasn't tried it do so. I could see certain crews (Sonia, the Viks, Leveticus) just devastating it but still fun. It's going to take a lot of practice and a few more models for me to be able to really accomplish anything with Pandora. But I'm not a very good player anyway so I don't expect great things. I'll be going back to playing Lady Justice and trying to get good with her but it was a fun first game and I'm glad Team Neverborn carried the day.
  23. I’m sure this is a tired subject but I tried searching the boards for solace, comfort and companionship on the subject and couldn’t find any. Not to say they don’t exist, just that I couldn’t find them. Before I begin my little essay, some background on our group. The crews that get played are Dreamer/LCB, Hoffman, Kirai, Lady Justice, Lilith, Lucius, Ophelia, Pandora, Perdita, Ramos, Rasputina, Seamus, Viktorias, and Von Schill. We’re predominantly casual players with a few highly competitive players among us. The “vets” among us (two of us) have been playing for about a year, the rest of the players about 6 months. So, I’ve experienced Dreamer and Kirai, largely considered very, very good masters (I play Pandora so I’m not counting her) and yet, I consistently have the least fun playing against Perdita and the Ortegas. Also, we have no Hamelin and our group has a verbal agreement that no one will collect him as long as he exists in his current state. Also, it’s worth noting in the only two games I’ve played against her, I’ve won, so this is certainly not a statement of “Perdita is OP/unbeatable”, rather a criticism of how her design makes me feel when she’s on the board across from me. Anyway, back to the teenage gunslinger, my issue is that she’s like the superhero of the setting because she can do everything well, has no obvious weaknesses and seems to have a direct counter to everything in the game. 1. Can do everything well. She has a Wk of 6, which is higher than every other Master in the game and tied with Lilith. Her Cg (which she admittedly won’t use often) is 10, higher than every other Master. Her Wp is 7, meaning only Zoraida, Dreamer, Leveticus and Hamelin have higher, and this is on top of her having See the Unseen and Immune to Influence. Her Ca is 7, meaning only Ramos is higher and actual “spell casters” like Pandora, Dreamer and Kiria have lower and she’s on par with all of the other non-Ramos “spell casters” in the game. Df 8, same as Lilith. Not much needs to be said on this. Wd 8. One of the very few categories she does not excel in. I’ll address this more under “No Obvious Weaknesses” Cb 7 for all attacks. Severe damage of 5, 6 with Critical strike. So, she is faster than everyone, has better Wp than almost everyone, has better Df than everyone, hits as well or better than everyone and can do almost as much severe damage as everyone. It’s like a D&D character with 18s in almost every score. 2. No Obvious Weaknesses So, the only things on her that look like weaknesses are her Wd 8 and SS Cache 2. But with her incredibly high Wp and Df, plus Immune to Influence, Evasive 2, Spellbreaker, Faster’n You and Quick Draw, it is difficult to find things that hurt her, difficult to hurt with those things and it can be punishing to even try. 3. Counters to Everything Almost every possible situation she can be put into, she has a counter to. Hide in cover? Bullet Bending. AoEs? Evasive 2. Draws a poor hand? Hero’s Gamble. Better at ranged, charge her in melee? Gunfighter, Quick Draw, Obey (Non-Master only, I realize), Execute. Many, many other situations? Obey. Seriously, I get why this is Zoraida’s trick. Thematic, flavorful, interesting. But why does the teenage gunslinger need/get it? Most status effects on her or her crew? Spellbreaker. Terrifying? Well, this one can actually affect her but she still has a Wp 7. And all of this is on top of a very strong crew in the Ortegas to begin with + Companion. Conclusion Maybe it’s just my crews that have a hard time with her (Lady J, Rasputina, Pandora, Seamus) and I think our group doesn’t use enough terrain so there’s usually pretty big firing lanes. But again, I can beat her and those ornery Ortegas, I just don’t enjoy playing against them because it always feels like whatever I plan, whatever tricks my Master has, Perdita will have an answer to it. So, why did I write this? Well, for insight from those of you far more experienced with me. I'm not looking for strategies to beat her, I can do that. I'm maybe looking for some insight, feedback or ideas on how she is supposed to be balanced or hypothesis behind the design philosophy of making her so damn good. Or maybe just a hug and a pat on the head...
  24. Not sure if this is the right forum or not. Anyway... I've been meaning to apply for henchmen status for a while now as I love to spread and teach the Holy Word of Wyrd and so I just downloaded and read the application form and may have a bit of a problem. It says run an average of one event a month. For the summer, that's easy. I've already arranged a tournament for the end of the month and for some demos at two local coffee shops (we have no local gaming store, believe it or not.) However, things get complicated in September: I'm moving to China for a new job. I have no idea what the "geek culture" is like over there or if they have gaming stores. Likewise, for the first few months, I'll be adjusting to my new job, life in a new country, etc. so sadly, Malifaux will probably not be on my mind (although I'll be forcing my roommate to learn and love it.) That said, can Henchmen "retire" or go into an "inactive" status and waive the one event per month obligation for a period of time? I want to try and spread the Holy Word of Wyrd to at least 100 million people while I'm over there (go big or go home, right? ) but it may take some time to adjust. I know this may seem like a silly question because it's not a job and I could just stop doing it but if I sign up, I intend to take it seriously and not just blow it off, hence why I ask.
