  1. A very fun report to read Leveticus is really hard for people just familiarising themselves with the rules... I'd advise picking up one of those 10T masters, (they'd be lovely to paint up if nothing else) and learning the basics with them first, then going back to levvy. He also needs a lot of extra stuff to be able to be played how he should, so you'd probably actually spend more getting levi up to a playable crew than biting the bullet and grabbing another box set. Gremlins look lovely painted and I love any bat rep with them in :')
  2. Pandora is commonly seen as a "Negative play experience" by some gamers. She's intimidating to face, and not in the way normal crews are. She operates differently, which is fine in itself, but she forces flips onto models WP, which stops you from cheating. This is largely why she isnt much fun to play against - minions attack you, and you have no choice in what you do, you just have to flip, and hope for the best. I play pandora in tournaments for what its worth. I'm yet to use a doppleganger in a game (painting one up right now though ) but I think it's usage is two-fold. Firstly, the on iniative to your opponent. Many turns come down to that initiative flip, so forcing a negative is very harsh. Being able to activate pandora first, drop down up to 3 blasts forcing models on a negative WP flip (Or even a attack flip if they're in combat with you) seems quite powerful. Finally, there's some scope with the doppleganger to copy the ability that does one wound everytime someone fails a WP flip - A model failing will now take 2 wounds. As for masters... it's tough. In the right strategy, with the right crew, everything can be overpowered. Generally: Book 2 masters are better than their book 1 counterparts (kirai, dreamer, hamelin, colette, the other one). This was kind of balanced with avatars, for example, Aramos and Asonnia are very good and almost auto-includes. Other avatars are harder to use. A combo of the mobile toolkit and avatar ramos turned the ram man from a joke to play, he was that underpowered, to a decent master. Generally, guild and rezzers particularly struggle to compete with neverborn, as neverborn are so much faster so can do a lot more strategy wise. I have no idea how book 4 will change things masterwise. Minion-wise, wastrels gave guild a lot of manouverability. Hamelin and previously dreamer, were considered the cheesiest masters. Hamelin, like pandora, creates a negative play experience, robs options off players and shuts down their crew. Dreamer previously could get LCB in combat turn 1, and destroy one model completely, before returning to a safe distance. This was OP because it allowed you to quickly neutralise models that would be problem later, such as expensive minions, and it let you cripple masters turn 1.
  3. Can you possibly host it on dropbox too? I dont want to have to sign up for that site
  4. These are great Think I need to make an army of pumpkin things and apparations led by carver to use this halloween
  5. These are amazing. Will try them out as soon as I have suitable models. Really think it adds to the game... Some gameboards wouldnt have townfolk at all, but a lot of city and village boards would look great with townfolk running across them Possibly the rezzer (1) could do with being a bit better? maybe an increase to defence? all the others seem worth the (1) but the rezzer one doesnt :/
  6. Throw a project emotions strike on him, cheat a high card and use a SS. He'll have to use a SS too, if he hopes to resist it, and if he suceeds, just do it again. From there, use stitched's to cast gamble your life. He wont be able to cheat on a negative flip and you will
  7. I've done short stories until my eyes bleed, hence the decision to go for something longer as a challenge Never done a malifaux short story though, always been too intimidated :/ :')
  8. Well I have an android tablet and I downloaded the files, put them on my pad and can access them offline easy with no problems. Possibly, the problem is not with the files, but the fact you bought a product with an OS that specifically makes it hard to do stuff like that.
  9. I'm only going to take one beckoner as core, but pretend we'd want 2... 2 Beckoners, Depleted (for the brilliance bomb) Possibly an illuminated, but I'm not so sure, - 20 points - Meaning we still have 15 points to spend on stitcheds, or I'd do 2 stitched and an arcane effigy, 5 SS cache with huggy starting off the table.
  10. I'd have recommended the old set of foundations and the old set of washes, but they're discontinued now and their replacements are near as good. I'll be doomed when I run out of mechrite red (I kid - Vallejo makes a heavy pigment line I hope will be similar enough.)
  11. Try: http://www.veltd.net/28mmshadowland.htm Theres a few good ones. Possibly the ogre halfway down. Possibly the Yogo junjo maybe. There's a great proxy for wong there too :')
  12. The paint being thin is actually a really good thing. Although, maybe not to the degree you described. Did you thoroughly shake the bottle first? It also depends on how you apply the paint - Try doing long strokes with the tip of the brush, applying the paint at the top in a blob and dragging it through the model. Hard to describe really - Maybe ask a friend who paints already to run you through some stuff? Finally, if it takes 2 coats of paint to do a part of a model, that's better if anything. It'll take longer unfortunately, but with malifaux where you only need 10 models I dont see that as a problem. 2 thinner coats will look much better than one.
  13. Hi all, Time and time again I find myself thinking about writing some stories down, I never get around to it but I always end up with a nice looking plan. This time round, I'm seriously considering working on it as a possibility. I'm not looking to make cash from it, I find it relaxing. So far, I'm planning for a turn of the century, espionage kind of story, with a brash american as the lead character. This had me thinking... I love malifaux a lot, should I set the story there? - On the downside, I'd feel I have to "Live up" to the current fluff, publishing it as a digital novel would be a lot harder, and it would have a much smaller readerbase. I'd also have to figure neverborn and undead existing into my characters persona. - On the positive, however, it might bring people into contact with our lovely world, it'd also be a lot of fun, and I'd love to have some asian stuff in, ala ten thunders, whether its malifaux or not. If I go setting it in malifaux, I think the ten thunders are more "accessible" - Making my character meet some asian warlord in london would require some clever tricks. So just after a few thoughts? What would you prefer to read, if you'd read it at all? Help me out, I'm in a tough position
  14. Really cool idea for a model. Looks like he'd interact really well with the horror crew too. Maybe put the rules on one of ratty's card templates? As for model, I'd want mine to look like fagin from oliver twist, some kind of really grubby, gritty guy who looks after the crooligans because he sees personal benefit in doing so.
  15. I think bigger is always better, would much rather have a larger train than a slightly smaller one. "Poundland", a discount store in the UK had an amazing western train set apparently, but alas I could not find any at my local store :'(
  16. Would like to know all that you mentionned. Especially release schedule. I can see their value in holding the cards close to their chest, and quickly generating "hype"... but... Games companies doing this really annoys me. It's especially stupid with malifaux, because If XXX is released in november and I want it, I'll buy it, if its not, I'll buy something else malifaux related, so wyrd arent losing anything. Even if there's a few problems in the plastic and you're struggling to release YYY for a planned month, I'd much rather have a rough idea and it be a month or two out than not have any clue at all.
  17. You can only re-activate once. But yeah, I think there's a lot of combos to be explored, ignoring the obvious which is gambler and forcing your opponent to discard cards whilst building yours up. That, and well with Lynch's big hand, I think getting decent cards and being able to cheat high or cheat damage in a gamble your life action will be brutal when used effectively.
  18. Yan Lo looks good but the ashigaru look superb. Dont think you could get better proxies than that.
  19. So, I always liked the look of these models. When they were released I was thinking of doing a 10T themed vics crew, but never got round to it. What's our opinion of these for 10t crews? I think torkage have a lot more to offer for one point more, but that they're better than 10t archers for 1 point less, as they have melee expert. It's such a hard decision. When I say 10t crew, I'm normally focusing on misaki, as other masters, like jakob and yan need their own faction models to perform well.
  20. I think the sybelle, grave spirit, and 2 belles is honestly the best rezzer list I can come up with for 15pt. People are going to struggle to take seamus down at that level, let alone another model with H2W2, armour and regen. Potentially some movement tricks too with call belle for deliver the message - Or you could rely on walking up with sybelle or a belle, and lasting till next turn because you're so hard to kill. I think lilith would be a tough match up though.
  21. Hi all, I'm modelling up a rasputina crew at the moment as a painting project, plan to start them in december. However, I also want a fun, christmassy themed crew, so decided to make them a bit festive and funny. I just wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas? I'm thinking of: Elf handing out explosive presents as willy, Puppet ice golem and these as ice gamin. Some kind of christmas tree monster? (Rail golem perhaps?) Still like to put a slate ridge mauler and a essence of power in somewhere. Any ideas you have? for pretty much any arcanist minion or mercenary? Please share I think kang would look great with a wooly hat :')
  22. armypainter "Strong tone" wash is repackaged old devlan mud. Cheap too. The new GW version is not quite the same, and not as nice IMO.
  23. And just like a strike, you use the difference in the casting total and resist total as a combat modifier.
  24. I know, it's lovely isnt it I'm really excited for Oiran for my colette crew - Have a lot of abilities, and think it's nice to get another showgirl. Also lots of models I want to paint up as painting projects - Yin, chiaki, yamaziko, ama no zako... etc. I'm fine with no unmounted versions of riders - I was hoping for another mounted minion though - I might make some casual rules for mounted samurai cavalry
  25. There are indeed some LOVELY fan sculpted models. My biggest problem with using minis from other companies in malifaux (which I do a fair bit) is that they dont have the "malifaux-style" like the official models. Which is a massive shame. Wyrd plan out their models and hire the sculptors a bit in advance, so taking in some models off fans and casting them is not really "the done thing". Never the less, I think it could be really cool, that image you posted, and the same guy did a jakume ubeme that looks great too. It's a tough one, anything that means there's more malifaux models for me to paint is great in my book.
