  1. Its on the rise in my neck of the woods. Probably just the normal waxing and waning of gamer ADD. I will say you've got a point about the monthly release pics and their respective threads. Seems kinda oddly subdued. Maybe folks dont have that same reaction to non-painted stuff? I mean love them or hate them, the studio paintjobs always sparked discussion if nothing else lol
  2. Silver... why so serious? People are simply expressing their hopes for the new game. Why is their opinion any less valid than your own. We aren't writing the game. We are just talking about it. Doesn't hurt anyone. And if some of us feel that games that are glorified tactical combat simulators are lame... well... It doesn't mean we are saying you're lame for liking them. Just... different. No harm, no foul.
  3. Gah! I knew I forgot something lol When I first heard about these a couple of months ago, I really thought that they might have had one for us to sink our teeth into at Gencon. Since picking up Masaki and trying to wrap my head around book 4 I'd basically completely spaced on these. More info, Wyrd! Inquiring minds want to know.... Daloon
  4. So its been roughly two months since Gencon 2012. I think for the most part the craziness of the con, con-crud, and post con shipping nightmares have probably been put to bed. It's been pretty quiet for awhile now, but there are many questions that I feel the fans are probably curious about. I know I am! Questions for the Wyrd crew... feel free to add your own if I miss anything. 1. Release schedule info? Oiran QC situation? aHoffman? Anything? I know that there is a preorder list floating around out there on various online retailers but I know I'd love to hear something official. 2. Anything coming down the pipe for Puppet Wars? We all know about the plastic resculpts, but I'm curious about the packaging (the biggest flaw of the original release imho), contents, timetable to distribution, etc. 3. Anymore news on the RPG? Some kind of basic ideas on what it will be about (themes, focus, etc.)? Miniature reliant? Hints about the system? I understand its still in developement so nothing is set in stone yet, but I'm really interested in this one 4. Where do the powers that be see the next couple of years taking our favorite game company? Are y'all satisfied with the switch to plastic? Is it going to be the money-saver you hoped it would be? Are y'all satisfied with the results? That's all I can think of for now. I hope the Wyrd folks are listening. We love you guys! Thanks, DaLoon
  5. Thank you, sir! Love the forum name, btw... Brilliant
  6. Quick question, forumites. A question arose last night in the first night of the Malifaux league being run at Asgard Games in Houston (shameless plug- y'all were great!). In regards to timing of cheating and soulstone use, I've been playing things one way (for like... a year and a half lol) and the store has been playing another. Which of these two breakdowns is the correct one? Scenario A -Both players make their initial duel flips to determine a winner/loser -Losing player chooses to cheat or not -Winning player can now choose to cheat or not -Losing player can now choose to soulstone or not -Winning player can now choose to soulstone or not -Final results/triggers are determined ooooor... Scenario B -Both players make their initial duel flips to determine a winner/loser -Losing player chooses to cheat or not AND to use a soulstone or not -Winning player chooses to cheat or not AND to use a soulstone or not -Final results/triggers are determined As I said I've been playing it one way with my little merry band of Mali-do'wells for a good long time now, and the folks at the new store have been playing it the other way. After we played our league games and sat down to mull it over we all seemed to think the wording could be kinda taken either way and we vowed to ask y'all. Apologies if this question has been answered in the past, but my search fu has grown weak and feeble with age. Thanks in advance! DaLoon
  7. From the sound of it, there is only one kiddie being a douche here. And I wasn't aware post count had anything to do with... Well, anything. Either way, odd to call out that for a guy with roughly the same number of posts, yeah?
  8. Does Wyrd Miniatures currently offer retailers any form of in store posters/promotional swag? I'm currently doing my darndest to promote the game in my FLGS. I've been organising tournies, giving demo games, etc. (If only I could stop painting neverborn so I could have a 2nd faction crew painted I'd be apping for henchman in a heartbeat lol) The store's manager has been receptive and supportive, to the point we now have almost all the crew boxes stocked (getting hard to keep them all in at once, which can only be a good thing) and prolly 20-25 clamshell racks filling up with blisters and such on weekly basis. There are a lot of folks buying the minis and the books, and a small number of us beginning to get semi-regular weekly gaming going with it as well... So all positive stuff, right? My question is, does Wyrd currently, or do they intend in the future, offer any promotional materials for their game? Every few weeks, WotC/Privateer/EvilEmpire sends the store posters/stand-ups, etc. with whatever their latest item du joir is plastered all over it with some cheesy industry art splashed across the front. It would be awesome if we could get some Malifaux posters to go up along side it. I think it could only help put the idea into magpie gamer's heads that Wyrd Miniatures is a big kid in the industry, and that its here to stay. I know that one of the hurtles that I'm forced to overcome when introducing the game to a potential new player is simply the lack of in store splash that the game has compared to some of the other companies pushing little pewter figs. Customers want to make sure their gaming dollar is well invested in a game that other people are playing. Right or wrong, I feel that that in store advertising is viewed as a sign of the company's potential strength, and by association, the game's itself. Wow... this kinda exploded from 'Hey Wyrd, gimme some posters I can promote the game with...' into industry theory, sorry. I ramble.
  9. Ok, that totally makes sense... thanks all that helped clear up the obey thing. As for the wicked doll entourage idea... interesting. I usually have little issue with objectives due to collodi's silly speed, but for more 'take and hold' kind of things, I could see the Weaver and a gaggle of little friends beings pretty formitable. Kill the dolls and generate scrap at your own risk... heh A pair of Wicked Dolls as a bodyguard might help mitigate her defense problem as well... Their Wicked Intentions ability has cost my opponents more then a few decent control hand cards they didn't intend on having to spend just to USE their big beatstick model. It's all very situational as I see it... Only a few strats/schemes would encourage that tactic. But, the beauty of Malifaux is seeing/choosing those BEFORE you make the crew. So maybe I break myself of the idea of WW being an auto-include for my Collodi crew, and simply bring her out to play when the strategy calls for more 'take and hold' then hit and run. Thanks for the food for thought
  10. Naw, the wicked doll factory seems solid enough. Only thing stopping you is have the mid to high-ish mask in your hand every turn, and the ability to play down what is essentially three cards a turn out of your control hand. On the plus side, a collodi centric crew has no real of masks as it's far more dependent on crows for it's spells (barring 'breath life')
  11. Is it even possible to summon more then one Teddy at a time (unless playing the dreamer of course)? Teddy is Rare 1, yes? Also, to Magicpockets combo... First, there are only five cards in the deck that get the cast off to summon Teddy. It'd take a fair amount of luck to draw that turn by turn. Secondly, as the whole sac two cards to gain a scrap token ability mentions only being usable once per activation, doesn't that kinda stop you from obeying multiple uses of it per turn? The wording kinda confuses me... Third, assuming you can get two obeys plus the WW's own activation, kill your summoned voodoo doll for the fourth counter, etc., now you have no cards in your hand and you are needing a 10+ mask to be flipped... Not even remotely good odds heh Thanks for all the discussion folks! I love this community
  12. So recently I've been inspired to build a proxy for the little old spider lady using Freebooter Miniatures 'Undead Lady', a rotten belle and my meager green stuff talent. I used her this last weekend at a local tourney and was having trouble getting much out of her for a rather costly 9ss model. She seemed painfully slow if she stopped to make scrap tokens and/or wicked dolls. She was never in a position to summon the Teddy due to all the scrap/corpse tokens being on the other half of the board. And finally, when the action did finally reach her, she has a defense of 4 with no triggers and frankly no real protection other than her terrifying... I dunno, I guess she just felt a bit underwhelming to me for such a big chunk of soul stones. My question is this... has anyone else been using her to any success? I'd love to hear some of the uses/ideas that the community has come up with to get the most out of her. She has such an AMAZING fluff/feel to her, and I really want to make her a big part of my Collodi crew. Help a brother out? -Dan
