  1. Nicodem, the Gentleman Puppet Obviously the clear winner
  2. I started on my 17th Birthday. A friend had shown me a few days/weeks earlier, and I went out and bought my first painting kit/set for my Birthday. It was a good day Thanks for the compliment! It may just be me, but it doesn't look as smooth as it could. It was just a mild grey with increasing amounts of white added in a layered effect.
  3. Rest? What rest? I've been painting for over 13 years and have several hundred dollars worth of figs still in their blisters that I've gathered over the years. Also, the shading on the face/flesh is GORGEOUS!!! It looks absolutely perfect!
  4. Heh, the picture actually makes it look a lot better than what it is ^^' Yea, they could definitely use some love, but I've always had a hard time going back to a model that I've "finished," and while I'm trying to develop new habits, the December Acolyte is one of the first ones I painted post-burnout following Gen Con (the months before were a painting binge that bordered on unhealthy), so I'm content to leave it be where is. I have another Acolyte waiting in the wings so I'll see if I can't do better on the second swing :-)
  5. Adepticon is going to be so much fun! Last year's Adepticon saw me faced with the dissapointment of another War Game in the same room as Adepticon, while looking on and checking things out, talking to people, and so on (having picked up my rulebook and Nico box hours before leaving for Adepticon). I can't wait! And I'll sleep this time before playing!
  6. I like the style you have for your undead, it gives them a sort of "pizazz" that makes them stand out
  7. Well, if you're asking how I sculpted them it took a careful and long drawn out process explained fully on this page... http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/bases/microartstudio-bases/winter-shale-bases-premium-round-30mm-5-1.html If you're asking how I painted them then that's much simpler For the exposed rock I used Vallejo Cold Grey (72050) as a base, followed up with a drybrush mixture of Cold Grey & a little bit (I think) of Stonewall Grey (72049), then just a light dusting of Stonewall Grey with a hint of Cold Grey. For the snow I started with a base of Ghost Grey (72046) with a few drops of Dead White (72001) and a drop of Electric Blue (72023), thinned a bit using the glaze medium (70.596). The snow looked like a very white blue. After that I added in more Dead White and used that to do some highlights, mainly covering up most of the blue on the raised areas (snow, when shadowed, has a blueish tinge). I topped it off with a very light drybrush of Dead White, specifically because I wanted the raised areas to have a grainier texture. For those of you who don't use Vallejo paints, here's a (rough) conversion guide Cold Grey ~ A medium-dark grey Stonewall Grey ~ A brighter version of Cold Grey with a cream tinge to it Ghost Grey ~ A light grey, almost white, with subtle hints of sky blue Dead White ~ Just plain old white Electric Blue ~ A brilliant sky blue
  8. I love your evidence markers! They're really cool! Even though you called it "cash," taking a close look at it you've definitely painted it up as script, which is just an awesome touch!
  9. I definitely like what I see here. I took a closer look at the face as that seems to be the area that has drawn a lot of attention. It definitely looks sinister. The eyes look like they're sitting right above the curl of the lip though, which may (or may not) be giving the illusion of a bright and wide smile (an ear-to-ear smile, if you will). Perhaps this is what is throwing everyone off? I'm still sculpting small things and have much to learn before I can even attempt to sculpt my own figs, so I don't know what to suggest as a possible fix.
  10. Hey everyone! Believe it or not I'm still alive. I got crushed by real life after Gen Con, and have slowly been pulling myself from underneath the rubble ever since. So here's my Sept work coming in a touch late.....Sorry! This was the only good image I got of the Wendigo More to come next month! I'll try and get some WIP's up this month as well!
  11. I don't know how many people here are familiar with Zombie Orpheus Entertainment, but they are the people responsible for The Gamers: Dorkness Rising as well as the (free) web series Journey Quest. I really got a kick out of Journey Quest, and when ZOE started up a kickstarter campaign for Journey Quest Season 2 I had to get my foot in the door. One of the rewards for my contribution was the ability to coin a number of words in the Orcish language (if you wonder why that's relevant, watch episode 3 of Journey Quest), and I decided to do an homage to my favorite war/skirmish game, Malifaux. Below is the entry... city (n.) = malifox (MAH-lee-fohks)(masculine) Named after Malifaux (I'm aware it's pronounced MAH-lee-foh, but this allows me to get the 'X' in there) Hopefully everyone over at Wyrd games will be delighted by this tribute. If anyone is interested in checking things out, you can see Journey Quest in full here http://www.journey-quest.com/ and if you like what you see, come join the kickstarter campaign. They've managed to raise 50k out of the needed 60k in 10 days! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zombieorpheus/journeyquest-season-2
  12. I use 1/32 gauge brass rod and .9mm drill bits as well as a bit of patience and a pinch of magic luck
  13. This is something I've been looking into as well. From what I've found out you'd want Gauge 0 if you want it to be the same scale as the models, but as it's been point out you wouldn't really be able to play on it. I think it's G scale that is better suited. I haven't made any purchases myself, something I'm still looking into. Here's a link to a wiki article on model train scales http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_transport_modelling_scales
  14. Thanks Kintaro, you spared me from grabbing my dictionary to find out the actual meaning of ankoku. @Gamergaeth, kage would be the word for shadow :-)
  15. I'd throw my hat into the ring, but I'm still wearing it It's from a few years ago, but that's pretty much it.
  16. I eagerly await your recipe good sir. My glass is empty...
  17. I like how the sewer board looks! It makes me want to get out my Hirst Arts molds and make something similar :-)
  18. This has been what my thought was. I don't see the Dreamer as Lovecraft. That being said I would love to see more Lovecraftian stuff, that's an instant buy right there.
  19. I think he's asking why the spell is referencing an action that can't be done. A (0) spell cannot be channeled, so the reference to it is what is causing confusion (if I'm understanding the situation right).
  20. Sadly, I am on-call and won't be able to make it ;_; I'll get you next time Gadget! Next time!!!
  21. Thanks Nilus! I also placed 4th in the Road to Power on Thursday night, just 1VP shy of third. I also tried the story encounters Saturday night, but was losing control of my sanity (I'm getting old ;_; ) so pulled out in favor of trying out this "sleep" thing that people keep talking about
  22. I am running a bit behind, so I'll be cutting it close to start time in regards to registration. Sorry!
  23. I should hopefully still be in attendence, even though I will be bringing along pgbsamurai and fetid strumpet in spirit. The only thing at this point that could change that is if I wake up and my ankles are dead (turns out 40+ hours across 4 days of climbing up and down ladders to repair satellite networks puts a lot of strain on the ankles). I'll know for sure early tomorrow morning, if you don't see a post from me expect to see me between 10 and 10:45 for registration B-)
  24. Looks like he just got out of Meido
  25. It looks beautiful either way. I won't tell if you won't ;-)
