  1. I agree with the above. You really only need 4 SPAs to start, but having the the other two on hand to summon is a good idea. Using the SPAs as a Desolation Engine/Bette delivery system can be some ugly in your opponent's face turn one, especially with some added reactivate from Alyce and if the DE can snag a living model for Better. However, it can leave you crew VERY split, and put you in a bad situation. Go after single models or small groups to one side, then move in from two directions. If you throw Bette and a DE into the center of you enemies lines, you better have 10 in hand and not like the DE that much. I have found this to be most effective versus Guild. Too effective actually. Taking down a model or two without any repercussion turn one is not fun for the opponent, so watch this. Another thing to keep in mind is activations. You want the SPAs to go last. Activate everything. Waifes noncompanioned. Activate the canine, even if the next activation will be Leveticus killing it. You hit hard, but your crew is quite literally designed to die. Oh, and best of luck, let us know how it goes.
  2. Fantastic stuff. I am definately stealing some ideas for my own mini Star.
  3. The feeling I get from your pile of materials is that you're throwing to much stuff away. Never underestimate cardboard(stated above) and plastic anything. Don't look at what it is, but what it could be.... The metal strips can have all kinds of uses, from armatures(as you said) to fence to whatever. I would, personally, put away the milliput and go for sculpy(a baked polymer clay), much cheaper and longer work time. The key to new terrain makers is to not over do it. You have a heck of a project idea, don't let it get to big and difficult. Start small. Have each project add something new to your skillset. And above all, have fun. Oh, and if you plan on adding a lot of water(bayou and all) look into future shine floor polish. It dries to look like water, and a few layers give a nice effect.
  4. I actually like canine remains on their own. However, I recommend one in case you come up against a non living/undead crew. If I can I use my opponent's crew, my canine if I must. Also, I may have misunderstood, but the waite gets summoned at first activation, not Leveticus's first activation. If you mean that both Leve and his first Waife die before he activates, does this really happen that often for you?

  6. 30 ss Single Faction Fixed Shared Strategies Unique expanded schemes Entry: $5 90 minute rounds Registration will be at noon and first round will start at 12:30 @ Hobby Town USA. Fort Collins, CO This will also be my first Dwead Paintwing Contwest event http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?34092-Dwead-Paintwing-Contwests-Fort-Collins-CO&p=433501#post433501
  7. I run several events in the local area, but they are generally to small to pull from prise support for a Best Painted award. However, I really like seeing beautifully painted models. My solution: the Dwead Paintwing Contwests. These will be a contest held at my other events, where players and non-players can enter a single Wyrd model for free, and compete to win a Dwead Piwate Wuppwecht put up by me. Thus, entry fees can go to prises and I can still have my painting contest. The first event will be my upcoming tournament on August 11th at Hobby Town Fort Collins, CO. http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?34093-August-11th-Malifaux-Tournament-Fort-Collins-CO Event number two will be on August 19th at the same, during our biannual Iron Man Painting event. All are welcome to stop by for 24+ hours of model painting in preparation for Tacticon. This is not a Wyrd only event, bring whatever you want to paint. My contest is Wyrd only though(what, I like them better) and I will judge on Sunday afternoon.
  8. Pennies. Place them under you sponge. I have 2 in mine, roughly 4"x6". The copper will keep mold from growing. It won't last forever, mold can grow on the paint if left super long, but your sponge should be good.
  9. I gotta say, I'm stoked for tomorrow. I'm ready to throw down some angry Outcasts. Malifaux will be OURS.
  10. I will be hosting a 30ss Faction tournament for Dead heat on the 8th of July! Come represent your faction in three rounds starting at noon at Hobby Town USA in Fort Collins, CO. Entry fee will be $10. Each round players will face off against a player from a different faction. Points will be scored by faction. The faction with the most points wins and splits the prise support. PLUS, all games will be recorded for the summer campaign. Can you claim Malifaux? Also, this will be the first of our fund raiser events, with 25% of entries going towards the events we are running at Tacticon, both for prize support and improved terrain. The other 75%, of course, goes right back to the players as prizes.
  11. The league has come to a close, and it is time to end it right! Escalation Tournament, using Disparity scoring and shared Strategies. 1st Round: 25ss 2nd Round: 35ss 3rd Round: 40ss Brawl This tournament is open to anyone, not just league players. So, come on down! Entry fee will be $5, with 100% going straight to prize support! Hope to see you all at noon for an awesome good time!
  12. We have a group in Fort Collins as well. I might be willing to make the drive, depending on timing and what not. Also, I will be running a tournament at Tacticon on that Friday.
  13. Awesome! Hope this goes great. I will be finishing up the league I'm running, so won't be able to join, but I hope it goes well.
  14. I dropped by to say 'Hi', and things were packed! You even had a demo going, so I didnt get a chance to talk, but that board looks FANTASTIC! If anyone was contemplating dropping by, do it!
  15. Models take the fall from lure, only if they can't take a path towards your model without falling. If they can move slightly over and take some stairs, they take the stairs. It's not directly towards, sadly.
  16. The effigies still have to follow the undead, construct, or soulless rule, which none of them are. Only the Hodgepodge's ability to ignore restrictions allows it in a Leveticus crew.
  17. K, here is a "cheaters" way that I think might work for you. Its called over spraying. Prime your model black, then take and spray it with white primer. Basically the white will be your light source, so move the can very little, just give it a quick spray from the angle the light will be from. Stage lights, you might do a spray from two or three angles, but even lighter, so it is only pure white where they overlap. Then just do your normal painting. You won't get OSL, but OSL is a large jump from drybrush and washes. Do not put your paint on too thick, either, the thicker the paint the less the over spray will show. Also, do one model first to see if you even like it.
  18. I would like to thank Greyseerco for running the event, even if it flopped. It is well worth the drive to get even a chance to play in a tournament. I also enjoyed the lunch and the chat. Hope to see you around, and hopefully, someday, across the table. Best wishes. As an aside on the massive whole left by his leaving, there is a group at Total Escape Games in Broomfield starting a league next Tuesday(4/17) with one of them looking to become a henchman. Until he does, I will continue to run events there and am starting to run some things in Fort Collins. I am currently contemplating stepping things up on my end to running a tournament every month. Don't hold me to it
  19. I have to say I am stoked for this one. Looking forward to playing some of these I have only seen at events I've ran. And maybe I can back up some of the smack I always talk(but probably not). I also hope to meet some new people as well, after all, that why I go. Catch you all tomorrow!
  20. That looks awesome! Wish I could get out of work to drop by. Hope your turn out matches the board.
  21. I'm in and I know of at least one guy coming up from Colorado Springs, possibly more, plus the normal Enchanted Grounds crew who come out and any of you guys from Total Escape who aren't afraid to face me
  22. I'm gonna suggest models over straight giving you a list. Rotten Belle - great for messing with opponent's placement, especially with be here or do this strategies/ schemes SPAs - my favorite all comer models Crooligan - a good interact/objective nabber. I don't run Collodi, so these make a mini alternative Canine Remains - you know Hooded Rider - great versus shooting. Fast too. Alyce - I find she is really good for holding a zone. Bette, SS Miner, Dead Rider... Whatever melee trick models/killers you want. If you know strategies, you can tailor a bit more. It's all about the models you like and feel comfortable with.
