  1. So.... the thing i hate most about the M2E forum disappearing? This silence. We were having a grand old time with new posts everyday and now.... Nothing. How am I supposed to waste time now!?
  2. Its not a silly question (and one i have brought up twice in the main rules clarity threads as needing a basic example for new players). Its each 'card' that has that suit. So in your example you flip an 8:rams and (if) she has a :rams in her Ca stat then she would have 8+Ca stat and :rams :rams as her Duel Total. If she declared a SS use before flipping she could add a :rams to whatever she flipped giving her (three) :rams :rams :rams. I hope that made sense.
  3. Gah... Originally said JUN release, now says July Oh well. Another month it is. Hopefully it doesn't get pushed again, but I can understand if it needs to in order to get it right. Looking forward to it!
  4. Ah, wish I could come, but was up there last weekend (too far to go too often). Please do post up when you are doing stuff though, as there is nothing in Eugene and I can occasionally get up to Portland on the weekends.
  5. Keeping in mind we haven't seen the actual rule yet, if this statement is what the rule is, then it seems to imply you pay the SS BEFORE you draw your hand, not after. So this would allow you to draw two extra cards as you draw your hand for paying a SS. This would only be useful for a very important turn usually, but still very useful overall. Now that SS don't add another card to the total I really like they have thought of other useful/colorful ways to use our stones. Now it might actually come out to say draw you hand and THEN decide to spend ss and draw 2 more. I personally find that a too easy decision and like the other way, but I'll roll with whats decided after BEta.
  6. Cool. My weekends are pretty busy the rest of this month, but after that if you want to meet up at Evolution and either play Beta V2 rules to learn together or we can play V1.5 if you want. What are the names of the stores in Albany and Corvallis? That's not too far to go for a game.
  7. I'm in Eugene at the moment, but sadly not much of a player base here. The only store (Evolution) apparently has people that own the game and models, but never play anymore. I am hoping that 2nd edition coming out soonish might respark interest. I've tried driving into Portland twice for games, but both nights no one showed, so I'm hesitant to make that dirve again myself :/ I have a pretty good grasp of the rules currently, but I am kinda waiting till the end of the month for Beta rules for version 2. However, I do not believe McCabe will be in the first batch of beta rules (should be in the second batch around July/August I think). I would still be open to some V1.5 games for the hell of it though until then. Where are you located (and what store do you go to - always looking for more LGS's in my area)?
  8. I have a feeling that the changes to game play will require a change to all masters. Just because they work well now doesn't mean they would transfer to the new rules set well. I'm still very optimistic overall and can't wait for the end of this month for the beta!
  9. Second that. Doing so would also make the Vulture worth taking again.
  10. I missed the last couple, but am going to give this one a go. Hhhmmmm.... ideas, ideas... Oh - nice cover too
  11. I agree with most of the others. It seems as if your opponents aren't as experienced and are losing sight of the Strats/Schemes. Overall the Rezzers are not considered one of the most OP factions. Hoewever.... Yan Lo, Izamu, Bette and kill joy are all our very powerful models and can sometimes take on entire crews by themselves. If your opponents aren't as skilled as you (and Collette should not be a cake walk, so I'm guessing they aren't using her correctly), you may want to try taking some of the lower cost models for a while and giving a little advice on how to face the rezzers. Maybe use the tried and true method of switching factions for a game? You make your list and he make his and then switch. This will give you a chance to see how it is to face the rezzers and them a chance to see how you can stop them
  12. Until it is no longer the game you love. :Powerful_Puppet: And that is not a shot at Wyrd - I am very excited by the new rules and think I like most everything I have heard. Bring it!
  13. You know you could try something like the Malifaux Encounter Generator (forget who made it, just have it bookmarked): http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67990595/MalifauxEncounterGenerator.html It could greatly speed up pregame play as it does those flips for you. Printing out Strat/Scheme cards is a good idea too. And you are not mistaken. I too heard that they will have a few well-balanced Shared strats to begin with. The more asymmetrical narrative style strats will come soon after. So hopefully with the reduced Core strats and the limited scheme pools you should be able to get pre-game done a little quicker. I'm hopeful overall and if I can't get any games in I plan on focusing on painting.
  14. It is a shame, but I do think the Dead Man's hand buildings will be a little small for Malifaux. They look great though - prepainted and have detailed interiors! I asked them for dimensions and they put them up along with more photos. The small buildings might fit in OK as a small shack, but the larger 2 stories are based on the same footprint and simply seem too small. I can't find anywhere that lists how large the bases they use on their models are, which would help give an idea as well (from their skirmisher bases, it looks like they might be using pennies, which would definitely make the terrain too small). I am very tempted to buy one and see just how off they are, but the price is a bit high for such and experiment.
  15. ooohhh... Iron Zombies could very well be Horrors. That would be interesting.
  16. I like the idea and I really like Molly and want her to work, but you will have an uphill battle. The main thing I would recommend is trying to fit in a couple of crooligans. You could use some objective grabbers of some kind. Not sure about hiring the Necromany, but her choices are pretty limited, so I understand. Let us know how it goes.
  17. Yeah, but this gives us a bit more detail. Only 4 models at that price seems perhaps a bit steep. Still gonna buy it most likely
  18. Sadly only one store in town and its only got GW and PP players. No one is interested in Malifaux there. I'm still unclear why they would even say something like melee/ranged attack spells use all the same modifiers as melee and ranged attacks if Defensive Stance wasn't included. Defensive stance is listed on the Melee Modififiers chart as Cover is on the Ranged Modifiers chart. I can see why normally DF is used in a Strike Dual, but I thought that the Special Rule about melee/ ranged spells (These Spells follow the rules for that type of attack and receive any bonuses or penalties associated with that type of attack (i.e. a model casting a Spell with the icon that targets a model in soft cover would receive a on the Attack Flip) would not override the regular rules sequence in this case? What other modifiers are they talking about? Oh well. Its not as if I get to play much, so not likely to come up - just trying to understand the, at times, frustrating rules. Thanks. ---------- Post added at 11:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 AM ---------- Yeah, I see that. I was just confused why the possibility of using Ca in a Defense Flip was so absurd. The implication I was reading into the statement (I could have been wrong about his meaning) was that a Defense Flip had to use Df. Clearly if you read that page a Defense Flip is left open to use whichever stat is necessary.
  19. Ah. Too many darn places to look. Don't understand why they didn't do a better job with 1.5 to include a lot of the FAQ stuff? After a second 2 hour drive to Portland to try and catch a game and have no one show up on a game night, plus the various rules scattered and difficult to decipher, I'm starting to think if its worth even trying to play anymore....
  20. OK - just lost a long post by accident. Short version. Page 42 of small manual is the only place a Defense Flip is ever spelled out and nowhere does it say it is only tied to the Df stat. In fact is says to add the value of the flip+ stat value and suit + modifers to get the total. So they appear to have left it open for a Defense Flip to be open to what stat it is, not just the Df stat. So why couldn't it be CA? (that appears to be your argument, but forgive me if I have misinterpreted). I can't find any other mention of Defense Flip other than in that paragraph on Strike Duals in both the small and 1.5 rulesbook. As it never says a Defense Flip is only using the Df stat, I see no reason it couldn't be Ca or Wp or any other stat they may use for some future ability. Also, what about figures that can use their Melee Weapons to attack stats other than Df - like the Onryo's finernails? Would Df Stance only work if the Onryo chose Df to attack and not Wp? Its not even a spell, just a plain Melee weapon (fingernails) that has a special rule to attack vs Wp - but otherwise is exactly the same as any melee attack Strike. IMO you could use Defensive Stance regardless of if its Df or Wp - its a melee attack, in a melee strike dual, and Defense Flip is not tied to any one stat. Anyway, we have derailed this thread. I can see where you're coming from, but I think we still disagree on this. Not a big deal as if we ever played in a friendly game I'd likely concede the point for the sake of fun. In an organized event I'd live with whatever the organizer decided.
  21. Edit. Reading it over again I see where you are coming from, but I still can't shake the feeling that they mean for DS to work against melee spells, but as DS affects the Defense Flip of the defender and not the attack (casting flip) of the caster, I guess I have to agree with you. The wording that all things that affect melee attacks also affects melee attack spells still makes me think that DS should apply, as it affects melee attacks. I can see your point though. I mean, you still give armor +1 for ranged attack spells that hit a target in hard cover, correct? (I'm guessing). And that doesn't directly affect the casting/attack flip of the spell, but is an effect for all ranged attacks. So I still could see DS affecting spells - yet I also still see your point :Paralyzed_Puppet:
  22. Except check the Rsolved Issues thread (and I think the rulebook somewhere): "Spells with the melee icon take the modifier for melee attacks, Casting Flips and spells, never Attack Flips" (emphasis mine) So yes, Defensive Stance would still work against spells that use the melee symbol as they suffer all the same modifiers as melee attacks. I am also under the belief that they would count for triggers off of melee attacks, but can see why that might still be contentious.
  23. This looks fantastic. For those worried about shooty bits, if each tombstone counts as hard cover, there is actually quite a bit of cover available for guys to leapfrog to. Plus some hills. It looks great and if shooty really turns out to an issue, just make some more freestanding grave stones and or more mausoleums to add some more cover. It looks the most 'open' near the middle. Maybe just adding some stone or wood fences that kind of follow the road could help with that? Course that's only if you find it a problem after a few games. I really want to try and do something like this for myself.
  24. Some very good stories overall. Thanks everyone! Hopefully I can participate again next round if I can find the time.
