I'm a little disappointed; one of the Journeywoman's nostrils is bigger than the other. Unacceptable! Seriously terrific, and an amazing display of brush control as well as a sound understanding of color. A standard that I aspire to but will never achive, nice work!

Her sabre is done in a semi-NMM technique that I like (base coat of metallic with nonmetallic highlights - I like shortcuts). I feel like I rushed her a bit, even though I spent more time on this figure than any other in the set. Hope you like her!

I have used both Dullcote and GW Purity Seal in the past; both are excellent (though a matte finish tends to reveal every flaw in my paint job, YMMV of course!)

I find yellow to be a real pain as well, which is partly why I challenged myself with these figs. It seems to me that of all the colors, yellow is the one most influenced by mixing, so it's very hard for me to blend shades for highlighting. I typically get around that problem with 'impressionistic' yellows that visibly mix oranges and browns, but on the advice of a friend have started shading yellow with purple, which seems to work without giving the yellow a muddy or muted quality. It's tough for me though since I usually start with the shade color and work up, rather than start with a base and work into shadow. I'm pleased you like the end result!

I like how you've Steampunked the GW Sniper by painting his rifle in wood and brass. I'm not sure the ghillie hood fits with the genre, and I maybe would have clipped the bipod and ammo packs from the rifle and body, but he kinda works!

All paints are Vallejo, with Citadel washes used sparingly. The stars of the Show are next, but in the meantime comments and critique is appreciated!

Yay showgirls! I have to get me some of those Coryphee, they totally change the look of the crew from 'cute' to 'nightmare'. Nice job on the bases, too; I like how you've differentiated the sidewalk from the street. I'm kicking myself that I didn't think of that.

My first completed Shogirl: I am loving these scenic inserts. They really finish the figure IMO, and add weight to the model, making them more like double-weight chess pieces. My one beef a typical hot dog packaging problem. The bases come in five-packs, and the Starter showgirls box has six figs... That's OK, says I, I still need the Coryphee and three Mechanical doves... crap that's five more figures! I guess I'll have to scratch build a base for Collette after all.

These guys are terrific! I love the high-contrast, vibrant palette and the custom bases. My favorite bit is the slop-hauler's hat.

How do you use acrylic paints withOUT using water? Maybe I need some new paints; some of my Vallejos are 15 years old.

I will totally poach the ideas I've seen here for other showgirl crews, and use wood planking for a stage, then probably add roses and/or playing cards for visual impact.

Hi folks, First of all, thanks to all you talented and dedicated painters for your wonderful work. It's really an inspiration to come to this thread and see what others have managed to accomplish with a little color and a steady hand. Malifaux first caught my eye because of the figures. I wanted to start a little painting project after finishing up a couple of Blood Bowl teams, and the Showgirls caught my eye. Of course, once I had them, I had to figure out what the cards meant, and the more I read about the game the keener I was to try it out. I'm still rallying the local troops here in Toronto, and await my first game, but in the meantime I've started to paint.
