  1. I should have several guys coming up from the Tow Soldier (I'm thinking we have maybe 3-5 guys coming up). I will also be bringing my terrain, so as long as you have space I can cover enough tables for at least everyone I'm bringing up.
  2. Only one week to go! This has been asked a lot: you do not need to be painted (assembly is required). Future events are likely to have a painting requirement though, so you may use this as a good kick in the pants to get you to start painting! Everyone attending will leave with a prize!
  3. The Demo Day is tomorrow, get excited! Hope to see everyone there!
  4. Hey, I'm from the Toy Soldier and I will be coming down. Are there any painting requirements? I can also help out with terrain if you need any. Thanks!
  5. I think Kaeris won. She got a ton of stuff that she can use without being babysat by a master as well as getting a new awesome babysitter.
  6. Hello Everybody, If you are an experienced Malifaux player, or just joined in the game, then you should come down to the Toy Soldier on October 27 at 10:30am for a Halloween Story Encounters Event. It will be a 3 round tournament using the Halloween Story Encounters (attached, with some adjustments). This means that three of the six story encounters will be randomly determined for all players to use each round. The encounters can be found at: http://malifaux.com/Downloads.php (I have made a few changes but am unable to upload those changes, notably bringing these in line with the rules manual and v2 stat cards). It is 30SS, Fixed Faction, Domination Style Tournament. $10 to sign up, all of which will be put towards prizes. Feel free to post here with any questions, or PM me. Hope to see you all here! http://amesburygames.com/wordpress/ Toy Soldier Games and Comics 113 Main Street Amesbury MA 01913 978.388.2512
  7. Hello Everyone, If you have been interested in getting into the game of Malifaux, or wonder what it is all about, then come on down to the Toy Soldier this Saturday (October 6th) to get in a demo game and to learn more about it! I will be there at 11:00am until 8:00pm so be sure to stop by! http://amesburygames.com/wordpress/ Toy Soldier Games and Comics 113 Main Street Amesbury MA 01913 978.388.2512
  8. Yeah, it appears to be easiest to attach the two halves of the head scarves together first, then glue the head into the helmet (dry fit first so you know where the scarf will attach and watch where the front of the helmet is, it has the "eye" sculted into it), then attach the scarf to te helmet with the head already glued in and finally attach it to the model.
  9. What are good ways to grow a local Malifaux community? (i.e. what are good events for a henchmen to run?) How do you generally go about picking your schemes in general play (i.e. how do we get everyone to stop taking bodygaurd and holdout every game)? What about in tournament play? Has 6th ed. Warhammer 40k reignited your Tau-killing ways? What are your toughts on Dead Heat so far? If you were to run Dead Heat yourself what would you have done differently? Furthermore, if you were to do a campaign for your local group, would you do a Dead Heat campaign, or would you change it a bit to scale it down to a smaller group of players? Keep up the great work, always love the show and can't wait to "meet" the new hosts!
  10. I play against Zoriada with Stitched a lot so my immediate reaction of no may be influenced by this. However,I would say that hex removes the talent (i.e. the ability) and not the effect thereof. So the Stitched would no longer have the ability "Does Not Die!" but would still be affected by it. This is to say if the Stitched had eaten a lot of ice-cream and got an ice-cream headache and Zoraida, being the meanie that she is, takes away that ice-cream, it does nothing to the Stitched's ice-cream headache.
  11. Bill from the Gamer's Lounge has a good blog post about an amazingly similar scenario (randomizing to hit a target that is out of Line of Sight). It can be found here. Hope that helps!
  12. I've been having trouble getting a good flame effect on my Fire Gamin. So either them or Avatar Sonnis has just a wee bit of fire to her model as well.
  13. I have not tried these out yet, but a few suggestions from thinking about it: 15 SS might be a better point, this is usually what I demo at, as it allows the Master and two lower SS-costed minions and one "special" minion. For example, I usually run Seamus with two Rotten Belles and Madame Sybelle against Von Schill with two Freikorpsmann and the Freikorps Specialist. You may want to simply say the Core strategies instead of limiting even moreso, but that shouldn't really matter. I don't like being forced into choosing from two possible scheme choices. I would recommend simply having each player choose only one scheme, and not giving a SS bonus for not choosing the second. Limiting the SS cache to 6 might also be something to consider. (This goes along with the idea of one less card, so it scales the same as between a Scrap and a Brawl.) I would recommend naming it something. I am thinking a Bout or a Spar (Goes along with the naming of Scrap and Brawl). Otherwise it seems great and like a good idea, definitely something to consider using for demos, since those take extra time simply due to explaining/teaching the rules, playing a shorter version of the game would help mitigate this somewhat (although I would recommend not reducing the number of cards in hand for a demo, so as not to confuse a potentially new player).
  14. @ timelapse, That is a great writeup but just note that the Mobile Toolkit is 4 SS for Hoffman to hire, because he has to pay the extra stone for hiring out-of-faction. Also try checking out the Malifaux tactics wiki: Pull My Finger.
  15. Waifs cannot use Avatar of Entropy's spells, page 42 of Twisting Fates, fourth bullet, "An Avatar's Talents and Spells cannot by used or copied by another non-Totem model." Waifs are not Totems, and can therefore not use the Avatar of Entropy's spells. Drain souls cannot be performed on insignficant models, which the Waifs are. The Waifs are really only going to give you activation control, and I guess you can simply try to cast their Tap Soul spell every activation because why not.
  16. Yeah, so I play it as if it's an aura (without it actually being one, so it can be used wile next to Hoffman), but I'm not sure if it should be played that way, or simply he gives everyone within 2" when he uses Stalwart armor and then if they run away from him they retain the armor. Playing it as an aura seems simpler, so I play it that way rather tan having to mark and/or remember who does and does not have the armor+2.
  17. I do not believe it is an aura. As he is meant to be used with Hoffman, and Hoffman has the Dampening ability, which says no , , or may originate within 3" of Hoffman except during Hoffman's activation, it would seem to follow that it is not a pulse so that the Guardian may use Stalwart without being affected by dampening. Were it to be a pulse, then the Guardian would be unable to do Stalwart while within 3" of Hoffman, so the only way to have Stalwart would be for Hoffman to Assimilate and then use it.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/user/ThePaintingClinic#p/u/27/9ZfEhEUOPa0 This video really helped me out, this is part two (shows how the stockings were done but part 1 is informative as well.
  19. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/259096.page This is a tutorial I used for my showgirls that I found worked really nicely, you can alter it a bit to make it more yellow or more brown or whatever you would like.
  20. Thanks guys! I was trying to go with the urban camouflage type idea and I'm happy to know that it worked!
  21. @constructatron I usually use P3 Primer if I'm priming white or black, otherwise Army Painter is good for colors. These guys were undercoated black and I drybrushed them witha little bit of grey so I could see the detail better so I could paint them easier. @OneInABilliam Glad to know where your priorities lay.
  22. Hey all, thought I'd share my Von Schill crew. Went with more of an urban color scheme. Hope you like them, questions and comments always welcome!
