  1. Sadly this is exactly the kind of dookie that has made me stop supporting GW. Now the only time I play 40k is when I'm trying to convince a player to join Malifaux instead. It's not so much the rules of 40k, though I do have my issues, but that the company seems to care only about their bottom line and nothing about their product or the consumer.
  2. BP counters drop. They are counters and not tokens so follow all the normal rules for counters. This is actually a pretty good idea, never thought to try Datsun with McM.
  3. They stay but as no one can really use them, barring removing them like lady j, they are essentially ignore.
  4. Let me know what you think. I have done it in a few games and it's pretty nice.
  5. For Seamus I can't agree to anything that mandates the cck. I am firmly against mandating you take a specific model to complete a scheme. My suggestion would be something like: Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Must be announced (I believe most if not all master schemes must be announced) If at least X(2-3, not sure which) enemy models die while under the effects of undead psychosis score +2 VP.Fits his whole dread/terror theme and is accomplish able no matter what your crew comp.
  6. Sorry I'm against idea 1 entirely. I would refuse to participate in any tournament where my opponent can deny what crew I play. That or it would encourage people to take the one "strong" master of their faction and you'd wind up with a bunch of people playing Hamelin, kirai, pandora.
  7. Hey all I mentioned in a comment I was waiting for a trigger & with the announcement of the summer campaign I have it!So here is the first of our summer painting Contests, the contest is open to all redditors. So here we go painting contest #2 is also single model. What I will need from you:A pic of the model (Must be wyrd, may be puppet or malifaux) unpainted & a pic of the model painted both with your reddit username & Summer contest #1 written on a piece of paper & clearly visible in the pics. If you don't have one of those, then join in and make one. (reddit.com/r/malifaux) these must be submitted by no later than 23.59 on the 19th of August. You can send them in a PM to the moderator of the malifaux subreddit, cmrade_dorian, yes we are the same person. The usual prize will be issued of $20 in online store credit. As will the usual entry fee of absolutely nothing. I do these because I love you all. Also in conjunction with this contest I will be awarding "Bonus votes" for use of the theme, which is in no way mandatory. I will not tell you how many and in order to VOTE you must have been a redditor for one month prior to the end of the contest , 23.59 US EST, the 19th of August. Sorry new guys & lurkers but there were some legitimate points brought up from the last one. With that said the theme is any country but America! Again the theme does NOT need to be used but will be worth bonus points. So join in & remember, it will only cost your soul to my feline overlords.
  8. I voted no. The jokers are great, they give me hope. Hope that my little zombie chihuahua can take down big bad aRamos. Hope that a desolation engine trying to smash nicodems face I after the mindless are gone will miss.A parallel I see for you dnd players is how would you feel if the critical hit and critical miss were removed from a d20 and it became a d18 with 2-19 and an extra 2&19? It removes that small glimmer of hope or that risk factor when the deck is low. I like it and feel it should be here to stay.
  9. Exactly mudge. I've won games by cheating my df down to give my opponent a positive twist and watching black joker come up.
  10. If you could change any one thing about the gameplay of malifaux what would it be?
  11. Aseamus is easy to get out and works great. Just remember he becomes very low on wp and loses hard to wound in favor of better healing effects. I tend to pop the avatar once I'm already stuck in so he isn't vulnerable while moving in. For avatars you pay 2ss to attach it then there are 2 requirements to manifest. Once you meet one requirement it is possible to manifest, meeting both makes it cost less and happen sooner. For full rules you will need a copy of book 3.
  12. Yes, you're sacrificing a 5 SS model that's great at melee. If it dies using the slow to die to bring out kj is a good idea but I wouldn't be in a rush to get him killed.
  13. Save yourself a soul stone and get grave spirit instead of cck, cck is kinda crap. Aside from that it could be a decent starter list. Have Sybelle go and companion the other 2 belles the chain lure an enemy model in for the pun to shred and bring out kj. Also I'm not a huge fan of kj. If you can spring for dead rider and save 2 more SS for your pool which is too low. Personally I always like having 6+ but with the 2 suggested changes you'll have 5.
  14. Let's not forget. A key component I absolutely LOVE in malifaux, Deny. I played a game against Nayte yesterday and got an early lead. I realized he could still tie by delivering the message to Ramos, who is quite slow, so I had his mobile toolkit blast him with electrical fire and red joker the damage. No other game can I say, alright I've got X points locked up guaranteed even if I get tabled here and now, so I just need to deny my opponent Y points and I can secure a win. I absolutely love that mechanic which may stem from LoL and the old deny-plank.
  15. Hugo weaving for lucius. I mean common it'd be a crossover between V and agent smith.
  16. Seamus - John Simm I think he could play the semi cultured madman fantastically.
  17. I like malifaux having the competitive aspect but I don't want to see it go the way of 40k, where everyone has a 3+ and the stats look the same.
  18. For scheme changes I will again raise my torch & pitchfork and say Seamus got screwed. Not only is the scheme near impossible but it also mandates you take his totem. No scheme should ever mandate you take a certain model. That said some schemes are obviously easier than others, I don't want any of them to be free VPs but I think the difficulty should be made more uniform.
  19. Ill also submit my top 5, single best is hard to pin. Stitched together, yes even after the change The twins Von schill Grave spirit Desperate mercs
  20. Bosco, can you please refrain from making attacks like that? I find it detrimental to the thread and topic at hand, game balance issues. Von Schill is known to be a very efficient model. However at 10SS to any non outcast crew he accounts for about 1/3 of the army in a 35ss game. Yes he is annoying, yes he is good, no he is not unstoppable and no he is not taken "just to win" also if you are not playing to win, why not set that up with your opponent before the game starts so you can both agree to bring casual and fluffy lists (raspy with ice golems, zoraida with a bad juju)?
  21. I think good old jack gets banned because of his VP mechanic. I know a couple tournaments used to ban him because people didn't know about at rule and a tie becomes a loss and could have been a win had they known that. I don't think he is a broken model I just think he's a pain to deal with but I can reliably drain my opponents hand by targeting him, no one wants to lose a (9?) SS model AND a VP.
  22. Not really something to add but mannequin replace the stitched. They won't get their does not die. Though teddy is probably a much bigger target for that.
  23. Every event I run I usually include the "no duplication of schemes" criteria to it. I find it forces people to play differently and not kidnap, bodyguard on Lilith every game. I'm cool with play almost every scheme month, I just hate the one for Seamus. I think cck is a piece of crap and since the scheme must be announced its relatively easy to thwart given the totems low Cb and Ca, combined with relative frail ness. If the totem dies I fail the scheme.

  25. Freikorps trapper or stitched together. They are rare 2 and 3 respectively but have only 1 and 2 sculpts, respectively.
